Would a member be able to wait list for a non-member?

For Adventures by Disney, specifically. I don't think the chances of getting in are likely; but I'm planning a trip to New York this year and the Adventures by Disney New York trip would be perfect for my budget/interests. I'm just wondering if it's possible for a renter to get on the wait list for me, a non-member.

It is going to cost a fortune for a points trip. You would probably have to pay the member just to waitlist in case it came through seven days out.

Is this a member only trip?

It is a members only trip. Do you mean the dollar per point cost would be high? On the website it's listed as 160 reservation points or $1599 per adult which I think is a great deal for all that's included - if we could get points at a reasonable price. Also, I do know the member can't have made a ABD reservation within the past 4 months :/
I know it's a long shot with it being booked and members only.

The rep. did tell me that within a month they should be releasing the 2014 dates which should be open to the general public. I just hope the price isn't skyrocketed.

DVC exchange rates for Adventures by Disney, Disney Cruises, and other external exchanges aren't usually optimal. These exchanges give DVC members alternatives for using their points on non-WDW/Disneyland vacations, but they come at a premium. The members aren't getting the same financial savings on these vacations that they get when using their points at DVC locations. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The value of the points used for one of these vacations is usually higher than the cash price of the vacation. Therefore, while renting makes for a great deal for a stay at a DVC resort, it's usually cheaper to pay Disney the cash directly when it comes to cruises or Adventures.
