I was a newbe did not know where to go find out this important point I missed which I will NEVER do it again so heres to anyone else out there that was like me. Stay ON PROPERTY no mater what the COST IS! I was not going to right sight to read the importance of this and only read it once here so I am posting this hopeing to help someone out. We went to UV in August between the two storms schools in FL were expose to be in they were out because storm alot people did not have elec. so what elese is there to do go UV. We spoke with allot of people who worked there and they stated there were more people there than what is normal in Aug. but nothing like the what its like in June&July. We were a family of (5) stayed at DaysInn 35.00 per night at Main gate. OOOOOOOO the lines what was I thinking! I really did not get it was it worth only paying 35.00 per night? We stood in line what seemed like forever first day saw 3 things. 2nd day saw about 7 things. 3rd day got SMART checked in UV RP on site paid 165.00 NICE room and we showed room key card got in frount of line NO more waiting for anything. We did about 20 things that day and left park 4 hours early to swim. You can up grade your tickets once you get in (that is use a paid ticket) up grade is 45.oo per ticket so for us 45.00x5=225.00 which was MORE than just staying in the NICE ONSIGHT hotels. The upgrade lets you get in frount of the line two however you can only ride each ride ONCE, so if your kids like Spiderman CANT keep re-riding that (infrount with up grade passes you paid 45.00 a piece extra (each person) . If you stay ONSIGHT show your room key/card ride say Spiderman ALL you want INFROUNT line. This was great. Just trying to help anyone out that does not know. We dont go to FL allot SO worth 165.00 in fount of line NO wait seeing everything in 2 days VS save-ing hotel 35.00 per night and waiting in line and needing 5 days to see every thing. If you stay on property great FREE transportion. Our Days Inn was close and FREE transportion but we had to TIP not won way but two that does add up! Also was not on the hour only about 3 times offerd a day/night so really had to plan and WAIT. Even if it stormed. On property boat tenders ran ever 10 mins. or you could just walk about 1o mins. (NO TIPS NEEDED for on property) PLease dont made the mistake I did. After first 2 days watching people just get on rides and I had been standing in line for 45 mins still not in.........Only do so many fast passes. No need to even mess with fast passes if you STAY ON PROPERTY! This is for the WHOLE time/day/night not just first hour. Sorry I did not get it before I made ressie left home. Never ever will I stay off property again!

BB&T mom you are so correct! Although I haven't been to Orlando before I have been researching our Aug. 2005 trip since March 2004. I am soooo greatful to have found these boards because I know I would have spent a lot more than I am projecting now that I am "informed". ::yes::

We are all so excited about our trip next year!!!:Pinkbounc

I think it is fair to say that these boards have saved MANY people tons of money, time, and grief!!

I also agree. Last summer is the first yr. we had been to Orlando. We had four nights booked at one of the hotels off-site, and my cousin (who lives in South FL) told us what a mistake it would be to stay off-site. Well, we took the plunge and paid the extra $$, and it totally made our vacation!!! I just found out about these boards myself, and have learned a lot of useful info. for our next trip. You'll have to go back now that you know how to do it up right!!:smooth:

Agree. For some reason, most people try to visit an amusement park the cheapest way possible. It becomes a game to save the most money, not realizing you get what you pay for. I agree with budgeting and saving money, but sometimes, it can ruin the trip.
You can stay offsite if you arrive to the park early each morning and leave by noon. But if you want to stay thru the afternoon, you must stay onsite.

And yes, your angle on the transportation is right on. We once stayed at the Delta Resort (now shutdown) years ago. We lined up at the shuttle, and waited half an hour. 9am, no bus. We get in my car and drive over.
The only bus system that runs on time is Disney.
So if you stay offsite and want to use the hotel shuttle, don't, it won't get you there on time.

We are staying at Fort Wilderness in our RV during Thanksgiving. I was able to book a room for $129 with the entertainment card. Now we have a place to go back to rest and front of the line passes. WIth 5 in our party, this was by far the cheapest option for us.
