Worth moving to BWI for one night?

We are staying at HIFS from 4/23 throught 5/2.
I got the entertainment rate of $89 and there are 5 of us staying there plus my mom is staying with us for 3 nights.

My question is, I am thinking of changing to BWI for our last night (or maybe last 2 nights). I got a rate of $255 for 5/1 but I can't get the same rate for 4/30.

My DH thinks I am nuts. To pay that much more and to bother with packing up stuff and moving. I tried to tell him that we are planning on doing epcot and MGM on those days so it would be a nice treat to walk/ferry to those parks.

It would also allow me to take the 5 yr old twins back easier for nap/rest and he could stay with 11 dd if he wanted to.

Am I nuts???

I would say that it would not be worth the hassle of packing and moving for only one night. 2 nights would be the minimum that I would have to make it worth it to swtich.

What about the Swan or Dolphin? You can get some pretty good rates there and be in the same location as the Boardwalk

It's not the money, it's just the logistics/hassle of relocating. I would find it more relaxing to stay in one spot.:earsboy:

If you qualify for either the teacher or government workers discount at the Swan/Dolphin, I would check into that. I calculated what you were willing to pay in your original post (8 nights at $89 + 1 night at $255), and that comes out to an average of $107.44 per night (before taxes or resort fees that S/D charges). If you figure 2 nights at $255 and 7 nights at $255, that averages $125.89 per night. I believe the teacher discount is around $129 per night (the gov't rate is just a little more I think).

You'd end up spending just a little more and be onsite the whole time.

I think the resort fee is $10/night, so that's an extra $90 not included in the above calculations.

Just a thought. Have a nice trip!:teeth:

Welcome to the DIS, Threegirls, I'm going to move this to our resorts board for you.

ThreeGirls - The big drawback to your plan is that you may not be able to check into BWI until 3pm - then you would have to check out the next am at 11am - so that doesn't leave alot of time for taking the girls back to the room for a rest/nap......

This is a problem I have with my 4 yo when we switch resorts in the middle of the trip - If I check in at 3pm, then he usually gets all excited by the new surroundings and I can kiss the nap goodbye for the day anyhow... I try to make him rest, but it sort of eats up a large portion of the late afternoon.

Of course, you might be able to check in early- but there are no guarantees....Also - one time my room wasn't ready until 4:30 pm - so we ended up hanging in the lobby (WL) and beach until it was ready. Just something to consider.... Jill

If you are going to do this, I second on the Swan/Dolphin as a potential choice - might be able to get two nights in there at a decent price.

I support your idea of staying 1 or 2 nights in an Epcot Area Resort - it is a great treat

thanks

I find switching rooms for the last day quite disrupting and I always feel a bit like my vacation is over a day earlier even if I'm switching to a deluxe resort. We have to do this quite often when we return to Orlando after spending the last part of our Disney/Florida trip at the beach - we return the day before our flight so that it's not such a long drive to the airport. We always stay in a deluxe resort so it's kind of fun but I would not switch on the last day by choice.
