We have been on Tmobile since 2006. Have had the same phones that long too:rotfl: Mostly we call each other and I do some texting with my sister and best friend. DH doesn't even know how to text and the amount i do doesn't come close to justifying the "as often as you want" plans. Base rate is $50.00 a month. And its just the 2 of us.

Is it worth it to shop around and see if we can't get a lower rate? Don't need or want Iphones/Droids etc. I DO need something that is compatible with my cochlear implant processor.

Right now the only drawbacks to our current plan is that when we visit my parents in DE we have spotty coverage. Their house is a deadzone for us, and sometimes have to walk a few blocks away to get coverage. Other areas in their city are hit or miss as well. Sometimes i can text with the deadzone and sometimes not. I never know.

We will be starting on Dave Ramsey's Money Makeover soon(reading the book now and logging incidental purchases for Aug.), so I'm just wondering if its worth it to do this:confused3

Any suggestions would be great
TIA

ok, I guess that's no.

So new question. Is it really worth it to give up landline phones for cell phone only?

Well. . I'll chime in on the shop around thing. We had T-mobile for years and switched to Sprint. . .I hate Sprint! They do have better coverage though, but I can't wait to switch. I would say shop around see what you find. . .maybe pre-paid would be better for you. Check that out too.

As far as the landline. . .who calls you on it? We dropped ours, and I didn't miss it at all. The only people that ever called us on our landline were telemarketers and my Mom.

I have TMobile too, and it seems to be the best value for the way I use my phone. Have you looked at billshrink.com lately? They will ask you questions about your usage and needs and recommend the plan that is best for you. Ironically, I was first sent there by TMobile. :thumbsup2

One other thing I like about TMobile is that their non-contract plans are cheaper than their contract plans. I don't need a fancy phone, either, so I just do the non-contract (not the same as prepaid, though) and buy my own cheap phone. My son and I pay about $90 per month total, that is with a data plan for me and unlimited texts. I would go broke if I had to pay for all of his individual texts!!

I can't even consider leaving AT&T because I love my iPhone however, Verizon has a Disney App...

Exactly my thoughts. My sister calls my cell if she doesn't text first. BF same thing. We're paying Verizon for a local plan and AT&T for a long distance plan we hardly ever use. I posed the question for fun to my Dh a few minutes ago. He said I'm thinking about it. With him that really does mean he's thinking about it. We NEVER use all our minutes on our plan and likely wouldn't anyway. I'm thinking if we got rid of the landlines and upgraded our service, a bit we still save a bunch of money.

This is the first I've heard of Billshrink.com. So i skedadled over there and joy oh joy I AM on the best plan for my needs. Lucky me:rolleyes: Nice to know I'm saving money, and I do really like T-Mobile all except for the lousy reception in Rehoboth.

And I will say this for Motorola phone I have. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking:lmao: I've dropped that so many times the front is held on with scotch tape but dang if that thing doesn't work perfectly.

I recently renewed my contract with T-Mobile after shopping around. I called customer service (611 on your mobile phone) and they were able to give me a better deal than the T-Mobile store-front was able to do.

I just thought that I would throw this out there. My family has a family plan with AT&T. My daughter and I have LG neons and my husband has an Iphone. Both my daughter and I have had to get out phones repaced becaused they stopped working. Thank God thye were under warranty. Only problem, they sent my daughter a broken phone as a replacement. Once that was corrected my husband tried to resolved the problem of poor service. We rarely get service in our house. He always has dropped calls no matter where he is. We were told by AT&T that there was nothing they could do! When we asked how much it would be to end our contract .....$378!!!!! When we said that we were not getting the service we signed up for in the contract we were informed that the contract states that service IS NOT GUARANTEED!!!!! MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING!!!:headache:

+1 on Billshrink. Also +1 on T-Mobile. Had them for years and they were definitely they cheapest I found. I just finally got the Android bug and switched to Verizon. :) But if you want no-frills, good service, low prices, I'd say T-Mobile.

I would stick with T-mobile. I pay $49.99/mo for my line with 750 minutes, Dh is added for $5/mo and we have T-mobile at home for $5/mo which gave us a wireless router and free long distance. Now, I do have a Blackberry, so I have a Data Plan and texting, but DH doesn't have either of those, although we may add web for $10/month, he fell in love with it when they gave him 30 days for free.

Our bill averages $150/mo, but that also includes 3 phones we are paying on each month.

T-Mobile has just as good or even better Android phones than Verizon, and the data plans are cheaper and unlimited!

Look at the Samsung Vibrant... probably best Android phone out there right now.

I love my Samsung Vibrant! I also have an ipod touch and I think my vibrant is better than it.

I'd vote check it out. Billshrink shows Tmo as the best choice in my area, I'm on VZW, but I know for a fact VZw has a much better signal. Neighbors with Tmo complain all the time of coverage.

that said, also, check if your company, or DH's has corporate discounts. Ours has a 15% with ATT or VZW, so the "savings" that billshrink shows, isn't a savings at all once the discounts get added.

I would stay with TMobile because of the low rates.
I just got a TMobile HTC HD2 phone and I love it plus a very low bill. Check with TMobile about coompany discounts. I was able to get 15% off the bill each month because they have a deal with my employer.
