Worth it to have characters?

I had my heart set on having Mickey at our VR, but prices have gone up and he is now $900 for half an hour. My sister offered to pick up $100 of the bill, but don't know if I want to let her do this. Is it worth it to have him there or is he overrated? What does he do when he attends? Love to see pics if you have them.

He is so worth the money! We had Mickey in his tux at our vow renewal and it was one of the highlights of the night! He danced with our guests, had a slow dance with me, interacted with all the kids, helped us cut the cake and took a ton of pictures with us and our guests. Worth every penny! It felt like he was there a lot longer than a half hour. You can see pics on page 3 of my TR, the link is in my signature.
