Worth it to buy a US guide book?

The past two times I've been to DW we've purchased a book and it seemed pretty helpful. Should we buy one for Universal?

It isn't necessary per se, but I love having one. I get Universal Orlando by Kelly Monaghan

See if your local library has one. That's what I read. I didn't see a need to have a guide book on hand when I was there.

Yeah, I wasn't necessarily needing it while there, just for the information and planning. I'm pretty sure the book we took to DW we didn't really look at at all on-site!

But yeah, seeing if the library has it is a good idea.

I've just ordered the unofficial guide to Universal Orlando Sean Kubersky published August 2015. I like to have a book for bedtime reading not a screen. Most upto date info on forums though.

The thing is, these guides are written so far ahead of the 'year' they are for, that the information is usually dated and some of it wrong. The last time I got one to read was last Fall, it was a 2015 guide, it only mentioned the HP area in Universal and showed where it was going to be on the map. It had already been open for quite some time. Doing research online you'll find more up-to-date information.

I don't think a guide is worth it. Universal Orlando web site is all you need. It is very easy to navigate, it lists the park maps, rides, restaurants, menus, resort information, city walk information. Save your money and just visit the web site. Use what you would have paid for the guide book on a few butterbeers for yourself and the family.

I found that my library has a couple of this years' US books, so I will look at them and see if it's worth buying (or checking out) the newest versions once they come out.
