Worth going for one day? January

Hi All,
I'm wondering if it's worth going on a coach trip with one day at the parks? Sadly money won't stretch to more than this right now. I'm thinking of booking it for me and my kids for Christmas. Would a weekend in early January be very quiet? And would you go on the 9th or 23rd to avoid crowds?

Right after Jan. 1 the parks do calm down and attendance levels around 3/10 or less. Martin Luther King Day/weekend the parks are busy. Until the end of January, the parks are quiet.

it might be possible to get more value for your money compared to taking a coach trip to DLP.

How much, per adult, and per child, have you been quoted for your coach trip? From where in the UK, and how old are your children?

Can you drive/take the train to London or the South East from where you are?

At £59 each it's going to be pretty hard to beat!
We leave on a Fri night and travel overnight by ferry coach from Dover to DLP, have all day at the park and leave Sat evening, returning early hours of Sunday.
I'm only taking my older kids who are 11 and 9.

you're right - thats cheap - but its also a very long weekend, with the possibility of no sleep for any of you. Saturdays at DLP are busy - personally I wouldn't do it at all, because you're really not going to see the parks at their best on one Saturday in January. But if thats absolutely all your budget will allow, and you think your kids can deal fine with all that travelling, then go for it - both of your Saturdays will be similar in terms of park crowds and open attractions etc.

Thanks for your replies, it will be difficult but hopefully worth it!
We've been before for a few days so we won't feel the need to cram everything in but can just enjoy what we have time for. I guess I've got awhile to decide.
