Worst View at a DVC resort - has to be BCV?

I was at Disney last week for a conference. Our conference provided bus service between Disney resorts and the Swan/Dolphin where the convention was. The bus took us to the Dolphin via Epcot Resort Blvd (?) directly past the BCV side facing Epcot. I couldnt imagine staying at one of these rooms with cars and buses constantly driving by, exhaust fumes making their way to the patios and balconies of these rooms along with the loud noises. What a terrible place to have a room I would think.

I have read others here calling this road a "service road", but it seemed like anything but. The bus took us via this route probably 15 times in our 5 days, and there was always plenty of regular cars driving by. Never void of cars. I even took my rental car by a couple of times down this road off-hours and there were still plenty of vehicles driving by.

I would love to buy/stay at BCV because of the proximity to action and theming, but I have never stayed at a Disney resort where you are stuck soooo close to the real world (literally 25-50 feet from a traveled roadway).

What gives?

I haven't stayed there, but I wouldn't let that bother me. While there are some rooms who do get a pretty close view of the road, many more I expect have better epcot views and equally many more still that have nice pool/garden views.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe all the EPCOT views also overlook the service road.

MisterDisney - Because of the EPCOT view (and the ability to see IllumiNations fireworks from the balcony), these views are very popular. In fact, I believe it is the most requested view by BCV guests! Perhaps the noise from the service road isn't as big a deal as you think. Maybe the road is only really busy during the day when most guests are enjoying the pools or parks and not so busy during the evenings and night time.

What Gives?

The Disney vacation club section was built years after the orginial resort was built. The only available land to build on was, what used to be valet parking and the tennis courts. Hence the view.

The pool views are the best that they offer in my opinion. None are great though.

The worst view we had was durning our stay at Vero Beach.

But your right, BCV's is close to the 'service' road, but as others have stated, road is down, Epcot is straight ahead... nice trade off, Vero's lousy view didnt have an upside.

Carol- I agree, I didn't mean to imply anything else, except to mean that a second floor + higher view would proably be better for an epcot view.

I have stayed @ the BCV twice and have not had a "road view".

But....OK.....don't stay there!!

We own at BCV and have stayed there once so far. I requested a high floor. We were on the 4th floor and had a fantastic view of SSE. My kids loved it. The traffic did not bother us, however, we live in a pretty busy burb and have a pretty high level of traffic right in front of our home. It would take a lot of road noise for us to even notice. I would always prefer to stay higher up though. We love our BCV! BTW, we stayed at OKW in October. While our room was no where near a major roadway, I did notice that some units where quite close to the road. I think every resort has some "not so great" locations and views. I know we will not always get the best location on our DVC trips, but I can guarantee that we will always have fun anyway I see your point, I just don't worry that much about it I guess.

Best View at VB (not including GV's) is the Ocean View Inn Room. Won't stay in anything else!

Or should I say; don't judge a resort from the road!! We've stayed in 561, 563,
461, 344, and 244 (all studios, epcot view). Yes there will be some traffic while you're sitting on your balcony, but the key here is "some". It's not the LIE....that's the Long Island Expressway. The traffic can not be heard when the door to the balcony is shut. Each of those rooms had a great sized balcony, with various viewing options for illuminations!! We have just returned from another trip and were assigned room 527. This was the only studio (so they said) left when we were arrived and we were disappointed when we were told at the desk that it was a "woods view" room and not an Epcot view. Well someone needs to re-educate the front desk because I watched and video-taped 2 nights od illuminations from our balcony and you can see 90% of the fireworks and hear the music!! Not bad for a "woods view". I'll look for you at Lotussphere next year. That's all for now!

While you all know I lurve SSR there's a pretty nasty view there. Our first trip home last May, we had a 2nd floor Studio in Bldg 1 (the first to open) that faced the Carriage House. The actual view, however, was of a swampy canal, complete with corrigated metal "dams" and algae-covered water. Being a "given lemons, I'll make lemonade" kind of guy, we did enjoy watching the birds that swam/flew around that area, but it wan't very pretty to look at....

Every DVC resort has the same WORST view...It is the one you see in your rear-view mirror when your stay is done!!!

What DVC needs to do is build a sacrificial unit at the end of a long exposed hallway, surrounded by a service road, near a swampy canal, with a dumpster right under the balcony and in plain view of golfers relieving themselves.

Then, as long as they never rent it out, no one will complain about the room they end up with.

OK now I understand why the view is what it is, BCV was an afterthought after the BC resort .. still surprising though because this is a premium Disney property (per the prices). I dont think the values or mods have a public road almost within spitting distance of resort balconies/patios. The resort however other than that looks gorgeous.

I've stayed at bcv and never been upset with the view. Once facing the pool, once facing the trees and once facing the courtyard, never had a room facing a road. However, I wouldn't be upset if it was. I spend very little time in the room and really enjoy the pool at BCV and its ready access to EPCOT.

We've only stayed at BCV once and it was for one night. We got an upper floor Epcot view that was also above the road. We didn't hear anything and it never bothered us at all. We could see the higher fireworks from Illuminations which was nice.

That "MAY" be one, if not the worst-agreed, but we are on the waitlist for spring break (from OKW) and would take it in an instant this second, they could even put a dumpster on the lawn while we are there if it would get us the room.

We had a 2bdr in Jul 03 for a week,room 364 or 365 something like that. Anyway , whilst on first inspection I did'nt like it, after that we did not mind it at all. I fact we overlook the canal that the buses go under and saw the villagator on a few occasions.

We had our first trip home in September, room 429, I think. It was a woods view, with an excellent view of Illuminations. We could even hear the music. It was so perfect, I almost don't want to try any other resort.

Had the 'road view' on one trip, WAY at the end of the hallway (4th floor I think). Didn't bother us a bit, and absolutely LOVED having Spaceship Earth directly out from our two balconies. Off to the right we could see the higher Illuminations fireworks each night. I'd take that Road View room ANYTIME!

Too bad there isn't an 'Epcot View' to request anymore... Wonder if they'll take 'Road View'
