Worst untruths inexperienced WDW people say...

The absolute worst advice I've heard was a family who were going Christmas-New Year's week because they were told that no one vacations during that time. :scared1:

I swear I tried my best to talk the mother out of it and explain about the Disney calendar, but there was no convincing her.

Funny, she never mentioned their trip to me at all after they came back. Think she was scared I'd say "I told you so." ?? :rolleyes1

My DSIL who lives in Tampa once told me that you could see the castle from DTD :confused3

Maybe if you are in the hot air balloon thing? :rotfl:

We had friends tell us to avoid Small World at all cost because there was a massive drop and the kids will hate it. :confused3 We tried to convince her otherwise but 'apparently' there were no drops in Pirates of the Caribbean or on Splash Mountain

My biggest pet peeve is people who call the Magic Kingdom "Disney" as in,

"We spent the whole day at Disney on Thursday & Friday and then went to Epcot on Saturday"

It drives me crazy!!!!

"It must be nice to be able to afford those fastpass things. But we are on a budget."

My son did this. He argued all week that he wanted to go to Disney World. I kept telling him, "This IS Disney World." He wouldn't hear of it. Of course, he is three...

We were speaking with a Canadian family in January at the MK. We were discussing DVC and she said she didn't think they needed to come back because they had done "everything" this trip. She asked what my favorite ride was and I said Haunted Mansion. She replied "What's that?" Since we were standing in Liberty square right around the corner from the Mansion I pointed to it and explained it. They hadn't done it.

I am another who hates the "They [kids] won't remember it" line. Actually this one totally drives me bonkers. :scared1:

We took our daughter when she was 3 years old and before we left my sister-in-law (19 without kids, thinks she knows everything ) wanted to get into a huge fight with me about how I am wasting our [my husband and I's] money taking our daughter to Disney when she won't remember.

We have since gone to Disney over 7 times [daughter just turned 5] and bought annual passes for this year. I have LOVED every moment of watching her grown up at Disney. Everything is so magical to her and real. Watching her face light up when a princess waves to her or as she sings and dances to the parade. Laughing as she suddenly gets shy when a cast member calls her "princess" and how in awe she was the first time she met her favorite princess, Belle.

She remember details of her first trip that are not in photos or have been bought up. She remembers exactly what rides are her favorites and which ones she hated. She constantly talks about Disney World to all our friends and family. I hope when she gets older she remembers Disney as that happy place where she was allowed to stay up late and eat ice cream for dinner. I can only imagine missing out on all that because I listened to my sister-in-law.

A friend of mine this past weekend told me she hadn't taken her son to Disney and won't till he is five because he "won't remember". It took every fiber of my being not to go into my "Disney is magical" speech and just nod knowing she wouldn't listen anyway. Thank God I have you people who truly understand the Disney addiction! :rotfl2:

Actually, there is still a McD's on property, the one by the All Star resorts and believe me there is no $1 value menu. I think everything was at the very least $1 more per item than our McD's at home.

I don't have much problem with people I know not knowing about Disney, because they know I have goine so many times, I know the answer so they will ask.

My problem is with strangers and the things they say. sometimes I will correct them, but sometimes it just isn't worth it, just let them find out for themselves.

Megkel, we have heard people say their kids won't remember if they take them that young, but I took my cousin and her children when her youngest was 2 (almost 3) and that was in Dec 2008, she still talks about that trip now, she remembers everything.

My (almost 7 year old) talks about our Disney trip (Sept '10) still.

Two days ago he and his sister were talking about it and asking when we would go back. He turned to me and said "Disney is Magic, is it Mommy?"

I'm so happy to hear him say things like that! :goodvibes He loved Disney World!

My DD told another mom at school that we are going back this year. And we'll take them again in 2012 or 2013. After my DD left, the mom gave me this shocked looked and said "to Disney by yourselves??? Why not go to somewhere else and relax on a beach?!" I tried to explain about all the things we wanted to do without the kids, but she couldn't understand "Why Disney"! :rotfl:

Last trip DH coworker tagged along with us. I helped her plan her trip and told her about touring plans. Well her husband thought that he could just sleep in and show up at any time he wanted. Needless to say she was stuck in the parks with a 1 year old, and 4 year old and couldn't do anything until he got there. Then she tells me she didn't like disney world :scared1:! She didn't even ride most things.

What about people who think they can go to Universal as one of their park days? I hear this a lot. They are owned by different companies people!!!

I made a touring plan and went into great detail about fast pass with my SIL when she took her DD there the first time. When she came home she said she hadn't ridden very many rides because she spent so much time standing in 2 hour lines. I asked her why she didn't use the fast pass system. She said they didn't really have anything better to do than stand in line!...uh, OK, I give up.

My coworker just recently went to Disney and Universal in January. Since I had just gone in Nov/Dec she was always asking me questions about tickets and everything. She said "I just bought my tickets, I got 3 day passes, so I can go to Animal Kingdom, Magic Kindom, and the Harry Potter World." It took me about 30 min to get her to understand that they are not owned by the same company and that Universal is not "right next" to Disney. (She thought they were within walking distance of eachother.):lmao:

I have actually met people that didn't bring their toddlers because someone told them they wouldn't have fun :confused3

Or how about the people that think going to WDW is not affordable & decide to instead travel to Hawaii :confused3

Oh, I also know some moms that won't take their kids because "they don't watch Disney Channel " so therefore "they can't relate to the park" :lmao:
