Worst room you've ever gotten?

Hey everyone, I just checked into the Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Resort. I booked a theme park view studio for 1 night for 39 points per night back in December. Some time last week, I requested to be placed on floor 7 or higher. I'm not sure who I hurt or what I did to deserve this but I ended up with a first floor accessible room. No view of Magic Kingdom whatsoever. Attached is the room view we got. Plenty of people walking by I promise. Also attached is the accessible shower we did not request. Pretty disappointed since this was just a one night staycation. I know the 7th floor or higher was never guaranteed, but being given a room that clearly does not have a view of Magic Kingdom and is also an accessible room when paying 39 points a night for a studio is unacceptable. They did finally agree to give me 300 dollars as compensation but I was kind of hoping to use this trip to help the wife see why we should own at Poly and I'll admit it's left a sour taste. Anyways, it just made me wonder what were some of your least favorite rooms you were assigned? 1000004228.jpg

I see no view of a theme park. I’d be upset.
Yeah I promise I didn't chew anybody out. It's not like these cast members assigned me the room. But I wanted a resolution and still this was unacceptable for the amount of points per night it cost. I know theme park view can be a very loose term, but I still do expect to see it in some form.

What’s the best way to provide feedback that’ll be seen by the right people? This is unacceptable.
Yeah I called member services who basically told me since I checked in it's out of their hands. The member services person I spoke to was very nice and she agreed for the number of points we're paying and as a DVC member herself this is not okay and she herself said that this number of points could get you 2 nights at a resort. But essentially she told me to go back and ask for a supervisor. So I went back and did just that. No other villas available at Grand Flo or Bay Lake. They offered me the standard studio rate in the tower which was a difference of 9 points or 300 dollars. I would've taken a TPV at BLT but they sadly did not have that so I settled for the 300 dollars. If they send me a survey, I will definitely be voicing my frustration. Under no circumstances should anybody paying for a TPV room at the Poly tower be put into the 1st floor in an accessible room without a view of said theme park.

They really need to knock it off with this BS.

Ouch, that’s really terrible. Glad you got some compensation!

The worst room we’ve had recently was at RIV. It was a last minute trip so only a preferred studio was available. I requested near the skyliner. What we received was a room on the 4th floor in the east wing overlooking the retention pond at CBR right above the smoking area. ☹️ No balcony time for us!

I’ve vented about this previously but our worst room was at AKL - Jambo. We were directly across from the elevator and it was just horrendous (both the foot traffic and the actual elevator going up and down). I complained and initially they brought a fan. I had zero interest in moving rooms in the middle of the night with a sleeping kiddo so we stuck it out. I had rented these points but they did offer me $100.

In your case, while the $300 is ok, I would push for some points back.

I’m sorry you have to deal with this.

Wow - I thought theme park view is described as being an upper level floor, but just looking at a map of the tower it looks like MOST of them are actually in the bottom half of the building. There are going to be a lot of people frustratingly put in those crappy overpriced ones over the years.

Well, I’d of been happier with that room BUT I requested and received an accessible room that was pretty sad otherwise. It was room 7619 in Kidani Village, part of the AK DVC.
I booked late and knew before arriving that it would have no Savannah view but having stayed at other deluxes in the past figured it couldn’t be that bad.

Hah!

The shower water regulator in the wheelchair accessible bathroom was broken and only allowed cold water; bracing to say the least.
The washer/dryer unit was mildewed and finally the entire unit was replaced in the middle of a week long stay; our cold storage food provisions were left at BWI for three days.
Finally, in the flawed room department, several of the kitchen base cabinets were gouged/scratched and quite noticeable in the open plan designed space. And all that chocolate brown decor was just sad and possibly on purpose.
No idea why no automatic door opener was installed as another person was always needed to hold the door.

I could go on in great detail on the response of the front desk CM and the guest response CM who took 3 weeks to initiate communications but I’m trying to calm down from DEF-CON 6 Evilena Deville goes to Mars mode
before responding to the paltry (in my view) compensation offer made.

To add insult to injury, I asked my DGD if she wanted to return in May visiting BWI with me and she asked if I was a glutton for punishment. Methinks she’s spent way too much time with me 🤣😵‍💫😂.

Lol so it's even worse than I thought. I thought this little blue spire was the tip of the castle but instead it's Space Mountain. The castle is completely hidden behind Grand Flo from this view. I hope they never give anybody this room and dare call it a theme park view room ever again.

They tried to give us that room at 89 points a night. They ended up giving us a 4th floor room facing Grand. They said that anything facing the water and not the golf course was TPV. We all need to complain so they reclassify some of those first floor rooms.
That is terrible. What theme park am I even looking at? If I didn't actually know Disney World I wouldn't be able to tell if the fireworks were coming from Magic Kingdom or from Epcot. I still like the Polynesian but at this point I'm considering only booking resort or preferred view if I own here so I know to be disappointed with my room's view.

Sorry that happened to you. That is totally unacceptable.

That PIT “TPV” first floor room makes me glad we decided to NOT buy direct points at the Poly2 tower.

The price chart for the TPV rooms at the PIT is outrageous! Especially since you could be stuck with a first floor “TPV” room.

And when we took the in-person tour of PIT, we were not impressed.

I’m glad we’ve allocated our funds to another DVC property with a more reasonable points chart.

Yeah idk I like the tower still and the location but I don't like the charts and I apparently don't like these "theme park view" rooms. I would consider booking resort view, preferred view and the longhouses. Perhaps I was too harsh on VGF and should've considered the direct firesale but my wife is still not a fan. BLT resale is becoming more tempting. Point charts are the best on the monorail, its arguably the best location and it's theme park views are actually theme park views.

I would send en email to MS and ask that it be escalated to whomever can get the view decisions to the board.

Many of this decisions are made before the rooms are built and once done, don’t fight in reality…think the BLT situation.

This should definitely not be theme park view IMO.

This is crazy. I'd be upset too.

I'll be there in a couple of weeks in a TPV. I'll let you know what we end up with.

As of yet I've never been given a DVC room I was disappointed with. I've enjoyed them all. I guess the one that does stand out is the Duo Studio at VDH where the hot water didn't really work.
