Worst Room View Pics Thread

I always book standard view. Usually, only stay in the room to sleep. Although, I don't blame those that look forward to a nice view, paying extra, and feel this is part of their vacation enjoyment and being disappointed. Then, I really feel sorry....:guilty:

Gotta say, that view from the WL is awful! :eek:But, a bad view at a WDW hotel is better than a great view at most other hotels.

What building is that in the background???

If it's the building in the pic where I'm looking straight ahead, I think it's the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, but I'm not positive on that.

Our worst view was at AKL. WE had booked a deluxe savannah view and we were treated to a small part of the savannah and a very LARGE area of construction of the new AKL villas. It wouldn't be so bad now but it was grey chain link fencing and a large dirt pit with no animals anywhere.

Please tell me that you were either reimbursed or given something to equal your payment of what was obviously NOT deluxe savannah view!

I don't have any pictures, but an interesting view none the less. We booked a stay at POR last year, standard room and they kindly wanted to upgrade us to King. Well since there were 2 people they just assumed... we are not husband and wife, just friends thank you very much, 2 dbls please! We were given a lovely water view room in the mansions or so we thought.
We were in Oak Manor which is H shaped we were the last door in the crossbar of the H. Well, the area to the left of us was used for Mousekeeping cart storage and extra rollaway beds :confused3 Lets just say we had clean towels when we needed them and I went home with extra Mickey head soaps =) You would think they would put those things away in a closet somewhere??

Ok out of the pics so far I think I win...

Tara....by FAR you WIN!!! Everytime I am on the SandD thread, I think of this pic you posted way back when! :scared1: I would have definitely MOVED!:sad1: and not been a happy camper!

I dont have a picture of the view because it was back in 96/7. we were at the wildernes lodge for 10 days and were excited to have a bunkbed to sleep in. when we checked in they told my dad that we would be able to see the castle from our room ( the giant pink cake version! ) 2 little girls waking up to the castle no way!!! they failed to mention that although you could see a bit of the castle the room over looked the loading dock and the smoke house for the WCC!!! every day our room smelled like BBQ!!!!!
we are returning to the WL in December and we have booked a court yard view so fingers crossed for good views! i will have to report back.

This is from our July 2008 trip. It was 7:30am when we arrived, they had 2 rooms, similiar view, in Rapa Nui and a 2nd floor (code for no balcony) room in Samao. We keep this one, we love the location to TCC and having the little known parking lot in front was helpful. We were only there for 4 nights, had it been a longer trip it would have been a bigger issue for us. As others have posted when you have small children who nap its nice to have the space.

This thread is great, we need to keep it going.

I've been reading about some people having problems with views at moderates. From what I've heard paying extra for a nicer view at a moderate just isn't worth it. It's not like you have a private balcony, the "view" is just outside your door on the other side of the walkway. You usually can't see it all that well from the room's window anyway.

When my wife and I were booking for CSR I asked some people if we should go with the water view. I've basically a water view doesn't necessarily mean El Lago Dorado. Some people had views of the main pool, which while the theming is cool, can get loud. Others were right by the quiet pool and mostly had views of other buildings. That really bites that people are paying extra, hoping to maybe get the lovely view across the lake of the Casitas or something and get the quiet pool.

We just went with a standard view. That room is really just for sleeping and showering anyway.

H and I booked standard view at CSR last year, and were given a water view "upgrade" in the Casitas at check-in. It was a Lago Dorado view, but it was very limited by a large tree/shrub that was directly in front of our window. :rotfl2: Of course, we didn't complain since it was comp'ed, but I'd hate to think of someone paying extra for that view.

Since it's going to be our first wedding anniversary and my birthday when we're staying there, the CM kinda hinted at us getting upgraded to a water view.

I wouldn't be shocked if it meant the lake is there but a big tree is in front of it.

CSR is a beautiful resort but if I want to take in the view, we'll go for a walk. The view from the room just doesn't matter much to me.

We have had some amazing views from the Boardwalk (only place I ever paid extra for a view), never any bad views really. I don't understand paying extra for a view at a moderate either, your view will always be of the walkway, right? When we stayed at the CB we had people walking back and forth in front of our window all day, so even when we were in there the curtains were closed!
