Worst hotel ever

I'm usually not one to publicly complain about things but everyone deserves a warning about this hotel. I booked this trip to disneyland kind of last minute so I was booking a hotel 10 days before the trip. I booked through cheaptickets.com (more on that later). The hotel was the hacienda inn and suites. I booked it for the price and location. $65 for the night and not far sounded fair an the pics online looked good. So deceiving. The bad started out when we showed up to check in. First off there was no one in the lobby where you check in and the long wa filthy. After waiting 15 minutes my fiancé finally decided to go look for someone. After coming back with the hotel employee I began to check in. He told me the room and said it was a second floor room. I had specifically called the hotel after making the booking to assure I would have a first floor room as I had just had surgery on my knee 2 weeks ago. He told me he had notions left so I asked him to wait while I went outside to speak with my fiancé. After listening to him tell me that when walking to find the employee he saw filthy rooms and what appeared to be a hooker and pimp hanging out in a room with the door open I decided to cancel. I went back on to talk to the employee and asked to cancel. He said that I should call my travel company first because they are notoriously hard to get a refund from and after I insisted that I wanted to cancel he finally said ok with a terrible attitude. After getting to the car and calling cheap tickets to explain I had my full money refunded to my card and the hotel totally cancelled within ten minutes.

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel and with an employee.

Please do not stay at the Anaheim Hacienda Inn and Suites.

We are thankful that cheap tickets was so understanding and Accommodating. We eventually drove across the street to the ramada by the convention center and got a room for a little more but it was clean and a mini suite so we were happy.

Just wanted to warn everyone about the awful hotel and service by the hacienda inn.

I am curious as to how much more you had to spend at the Ramada to get a nice clean room? Just in comparison.

Maybe I am just not that trusting of a person but I would never stay in a hotel for less than $100 no matter where it is or what anyone said about it - maybe in the middle of nowhere if that is all there is in some small town - but no, $65 a night screams dump to me.

I am so very glad that you were able to back away from the crazy experience and did not end up losing money from the experience and I think it is great you are putting this out here for others to read. It is a very old and tired expression but you really do get what you pay for.

This can be looked at as a good review for Cheap Tickets. Thank goodness they were so easy to get your refund. How horrible it could have been if you had to pay for that and another hotel room.

Lana :)

It was $99 for the ramada. An yes I am so thankful that cheap tickets was amazing.

I wouldn't necessarily say less than $100 is always a bad deal. We got the Best Western Park Place Inn for $89 last month. I do agree, reviews are good things!

Tripadvisor is your best friend-

101 out of 107 hotels in Anaheim....yikes

Oh my that IS bad..I am so sorry to hear about that. For the longest time I stayed with brands I knew ( Holiday Inn , Best Western) , etc because of this very reason..Now thats not to say every one of theirs is perfect but this is just really bad.

I have to echo I would never book something without checking reviews and another reason I would never use Hotwire or Expedia because frankly you never know what you're gonna get and working in a hotel before have seen too many complaints heh.

I'm really sorry this started out so bad for you :(

Wow that's really bad... I like everyone always read the reviews before booking hotels or going to restaurants. Thank God we have the internet! Thank God you didn't have to stay there...

I also wouldn't say less than $100 is always a bad deal. On Trip Advisor (love using that site too!!) Quality Inn and Suites is ranked 52 with rates $96 and up, and Carousel Inn and Suites is ranked 53 with rates $172 and up. When I stay at Quality, we usually book at rates between $55 on a REALLY good night to $80. It's a little bit of a walk, but it's definitely no where near the dirtiness of the Hacienda.

OP I'm glad that cheaptickets was so accommodating! It's hard to choose whether I'd use them in the future or not. Their customer service is outstanding, but are some of the other hotels they work with as sketchy as Hacienda? For me, it would be a mixed review as opposed to an all out great review of cheaptickets.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, but glad you were able to get it resolved quickly!

Ick! Glad you got your money back.

I stayed at that Ramada before, it's pretty nice! And the breakfast is very good AND the restaurant turns into an Indian place later in the day, which someday I will try out. :)

I paid the same 99ish that the OP did for that Ramada, back in March 2011. It was a nice place. A hotel, with food available, and nice employees.

I was there for the evening because my sister was there for a cheer convention, and it's where her group was staying. My dad seemed to think that he, my two 20-something 6'4" brothers, my stepmom, me, and my son could all stay in ONE room. One normal room. I disagreed; we are just not that close. So at the last minute I went downstairs and asked for a room and got one at that rate. No regrets and it wasn't scary or weird or bad at all. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

You've done a tremendous service to everyone. Reading the Trip Advisor reviews are just unbelievable. How can this place be rated 2 stars in the first place with people preferring a cardboard box over a room there?

So sorry you had this awful experience!

That's fantastic! And BWPPI is ranked 12th.

(We're booked at the Tropicana for June. It's a return trip, so we now know that we're content in the 38th ranking range. :rotfl2:)

I disagree, I stay at the HoJo for well under $100 a night, I also stay at the Candy Cane Inn for well under $100 a night, both are very nice places to stay. :)

OP I'm glad you got your money back! That's scary stuff!

You stay at the Hojo for under $100? When? Recently, because even with an AP discount their rates are still around $115 for their lowest category room?

I am not saying you can not find a decent and clean room for less than $100 - that is just my general benchmark.
