OK, let me start out by saying that I am about ready to go and hurt someone after the day I've had.
Today was the day of our field trip to Washington DC. We were to go there and do a scavenger hunt using everything we've learned this year as help.
We were all excited to go because it sounded fun and all the 8th graders kept telling us we would have an awesome time.
WORST FIELD TRIP EVER!
First thing that irked me was that the questions were HARD!
The second thing that irked me was how we had to keep walking from one end of the mall to the other.
The third thing that drove me over the edge was the fact that it was SOOOOOOO HOT!
So, finally, at 2:00 we leave on the buses for our 1-hour drive back to our school.
As we are driving down the highway near Reston (25 minutes away!) it starts to pour. Out of the blue, sheets of rain are pouring down from the sky.
Chaos ensues.
Everyone is rushing around trying to get their windows shut so as to not get soaked.
Lightning and thunder are exploding every two seconds adding another lot of noise to the bus.
Then, our bus driver almost crashes.
Wonderful.
THEN we arrive back at school (our bus was the first one back) and my history teacher from last year (BEST TEACHER EVER!) comes running over to our bus and tells us that we are supposed to go to the cafeteria because their is a tornado warning.
WONDERFUL!
So, we go to the cafeteria and because all the tables have been put up, there is no room along the walls to do that Tornado tuck thingy that we are required to do.
SO we get moved into the hallway and crouch down there.
Ten minutes later, we are allowed to sit up and talk quietly as they wait for more instructions.
By now it is 3:20 and normally we get out at 3:28.
10 minutes later we're supposed to go to our 8th block (Tech Ed) and wait for the buses to come (While driving home the elementary kids they had to stop at the nearest school and do that crouching thingy).
Finally, at 4:05 the buses have arrived.
They are having rush down to our houses, get our stuff from our lockers, and then get on the buses.
We are finally heading home and at 4:20 I finally get home.
After this day I have blistered feet, feet in a huge amount of pain, my back and hair is STILL (Over an hour after we got off the buses) soaking wet from walking in the rain, and I now know that I should have played sick today.
WORST DAY EVER!

Sorry your day was so rough! On the bright side, its almost summer....and you will probably have a better day tomorrow!

That sucks, Allie. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Awww i feel so bad for you.Hopefully tommorrow is better.

What sucks is that we're still under a tornado watch and it is still raining.
And our power is out.
Apparently, some idiot crashed into the backup power source for Loudoun County this morning.
So, the main one goes it and no backup power source is going to pop up anytime soon.

How are you on the computer? :p

Laptop people, laptop!

Sorry you had a bad day Allie. Unfortunately, we aren't in "Pleasantville" or "The Giver" where the weather is regulated.
And hey, I'm not trying to be a downer, but at least you could walk all over the place and see some things not many people get to see. Make the best of the worst situations.

EXACTLY!

Sorry you had such a horrible day were you using the Metro to get through the mall as the mall is very large. I know what the tornado warning feels like last year when we were in D.C. on the 4th of July their was a tornado warning and coming from Washington we completlely freaked out. Then to make us even more nervous they closed the mall. I hope that my 8th grade class fieldtrip to Seattle next Thursday goes better than that. I'm sorry Allie

i hope my trip to D.C. is not like that
It won't be.
I live 45 minutes from DC and have been there at least 200 times.
It is normally not like that, but there are those days.
But it seems, around here, that everytime it thunderstorms there is a tornado warning which is why nobody was really freaking out.
