Worst Disney movie ever?

to the people who mentioned Treasure Planet: out of curiosity, what exactly didn't you like about the movie?

I thought it was incredibly boring and too long.

I would also go with Atlantis, Home on the Range, Lilo & Stitch, and The Emperor's New Groove.

:rotfl2: I must love awful movies because Pete's Dragon and Oliver and Company are two of my all time faves! :rotfl:

Don't feel bad - Atlantis and Treasure Planet are two of my favorites too ;) And DSD8 love Pochahontas (God only knows why...)

Here are my pics:
Home on the Range
Chicken Little
The Aristocats

Treasure Planet and Atlantis have more going on to them, a lot of which goes over a kids head. I'm guessing that, in a nutshell, that's why they wern't liked. We like Treasure Planet because we can identify with Jim a lot more than the "average" child coming from a two parent home. They're also much more sci-fi than fantasy or fairy tale, so there's a smaller market for their stories.

Pocohontas was barely tolerable, but the one I just despise is Lilo & Stitch. Lilo is such a BRAT! And she always gets away with being a brat. That movie will never be in my house if I have anything to say about it. :rolleyes1

I would also go with Atlantis, Home on the Range, Lilo & Stitch, and The Emperor's New Groove.

I've never seen Home on the Range and LOATHED Lilo & Stich. I liked Atlantis a lot (but then, I'm a sci-fi kind of gal) and absolutely loved Emperor's New Groove.

Disney has produced some absolute garbage over the last 10 years or so. Not even counting the direct-to-video junk, you can pick just about anything they've released since the late 90's. The only possible exception is TENG, and I'm not all that crazy about it. Home on the Range? Chicken Little? Meet the Robinsons? Atlantis? Lilo and Stitch? Brother Bear? Thanks goodness my kids don't want to see newly released Disney movies anymore!

to the people who mentioned Treasure Planet: out of curiosity, what exactly didn't you like about the movie? I've been doing research lately to figure out why it failed at the box office so badly, and it would be helpful to know what it was about the movie that he general public didn't like

My vote goes to Home On The Range. It didn't have a single redeeming quality that I can recall; appalling animation, the character designs sucked, the CGI was glaringly bad and didn't fit the rest of the art in the slightest, the characters were boring, the voices were underwhelming, the story was nothing to write home about, and the actual movie was worse than the sum of its parts. I want my Netflix rental back.

Stupid story, weird animation, and generally nothing memorable or entertaining about it.

A lot of you have mentioned movies that I like. Okay. This is all subjective.

DD7 just got Alice in Wonderland out of the library. Absolutely dreadful. The animation is good, but it's dull and plodding, and what it did to "The Walrus and the Carpenter" should be illegal.

okay after reading this thread I thought of some that i couldn't think of yesterdayl..

Hunchback..
Lilo and Stich
Brother Bear (I liked it before I saw the Primetime special about the truth behind the story..)

Brother Bear (I liked it before I saw the Primetime special about the truth behind the story..)

???

I never really liked this movie, but I never really thought of it as awful either. What's so bad about it? :confused3

I vote Hunchback...never made it through. BUT, I loved the stage show at MGM.

LOVED Pochontas, and Tron :)

I agree with the sequels. Nothing but garbage to make money. Sad and sick...

Emperor's New Groove-only good thing was David Spade
Chicken Little-see above but change Spade to Zach Braff
Brother Bear-blame my Joaquin Phoenix kick for this one

Valiant, any of the two's (exept like someone posted about, Toy Story 2) those were horrible movies!!! Brother Bear, Lilo and Stitch, Home on the Range. That's al I can think of now..........

Brother Bear was apparently based on a guy who went to study the bears and lived with them.. In like Alaska or somewhere... and he video taped everything.. one day the bears killed him but I am not sure if it truley is like the movie or not.

The movie has absolutely NOTHING to do with that! It is about an Inuit clan in the Arctic a long time ago.

I liked Brother Bear. My vote would be Tarzan 2, Cinderella 2, or The Wild. I wasn't too excited about Hunchback, but I thought it was an OK movie- just a little too much twisted sexual obsession on Frollo's part for my taste, especailly for a children's movie.

I'd say any of the direct-to-video 2's such as Cinderella 2, Hunchback 2, etc.

In my opinion, this was Disney being greedy. They were churning out any old thing; not caring about the quality of their films and how it negatively impacted the classic originals.

ETA: Exception: Toy Story 2!!

I second this, though Toy Story 2 wasn't direct to video. But I also think the part threes were terrible, too.

One direct to video sequel I did like was Aladdin 2, except for Genie's voice acting. But hey, I was a kid when that came out.

ETA: After going back and reading pages 2 and 3, which I skipped before posting this, I have to say that I love Treasure Planet! I see a lot of similarities to Titan AE, which I also love and have heard that a lot of people hate it.

The Black Cauldron was great, too. I think it was just released before its time. Disney didn't really do "dark" movies back then. Probably the second best fantasy movie Disney has made behind the Sword in the Stone.

I'm sort of neutral on Lilo & Stitch. The movie wasn't bad per se, but after replacing Alien Encounter with that Stitch junk, it's made me not care too much for it :lmao:

Wow. I guess I'm an odd-ball. I love most all of these movies that have been mentioned.

I guess about the only one I could throw in would be Emporer's New Groove.

The Country Bear movie....don't remember the exact name of it and one that made many moons ago with Jan Michael Vincent called something like The Million Dollar Athlete?

That was The World's Greatest Athlete with Jan-Michael Vincent. I can't agree with you there - watching JMV run around in a loin cloth was a treat for me!

Animated: Chicken Little
Live action: The Country Bears
