I'm kind of nervous about going to DL this upcoming monday and tuesday (22 and 23)..

I read in another post that this past monday and tuesday were crazy!

I'm going with a group of 10 girls, and one of them has never been to DL so we want to make it special for her.

How do you think attendance will be?

I think much of the craziness this past week was because it was the last couple days before SO CA APs start their summer block out period so was the APholders last chance to see the new fireworks/return of Fantasmic and DEP before late summer. I bet it will be a more normal summer business next week.

Sorry to be less optimistic. The projections are
unusually high for this week. It's going to be
crazy busy.

It is summer so it will be crowded but that doesn't mean you can't have fun. Don't get worried, just be prepared. That is your best bet. Use FP as much as you can. Read up on HydroGuy's FP strategies if you haven't read them before or if you need to refresh your memory. And do everything you can to try to get to the park when it opens. This might be hard with a large group since it might be hard to get everyone coordinated to get up and get ready on time but it is very important to try to do this. The first several hours have much shorter wait times. Even with big crowds projected, you will be able to get a lot done in the morning if you show up early.

Have a great trip!

We just returned today from our week long vacation. It was VERY crowded. There were alot of June Grad parties/groups everywhere. They closed the parks early a couple nights due to grad parties. Then there were just a TON of locals. We were there to see Kobe Bryant on a float with Mickey going down mainstreet which was way cool:thumbsup2 Even though it was extremely busy, my family and I had a BLAST!! This was our first trip to California and Disneyland and it was a memorable one, even with the crowds. So, that being said, you can't predict how busy the parks are going to be on any particular day really. I mean one day, we were there, we had left Disneyland because it was like walking like sardines packed in on top of one another and headed to California Adventure. We had found out later that Disneyland closed because it was FULL. You just have to go when you can go and enjoy the parks! That is really all you can do. HAVE FUN;)

I'm worried too, though since we are only going to DCA tomorrow I know it won't be as bad as DL might be.

Last week was crazy b/c it was the last days for the lowest of the so cal AP. But the next level of so cal APs can still get in the parks tomorrow and next week up through Friday...along with Deluxe (us) and of course Premium. Many people on micechat feel that there are likely MANY more deluxe and premium passholders in the so cal area, b/c of the payment plan, so, ya know...anything might happen tomorrow and the rest of the week.

So just know your basic plan, the basic strategies, know how to use FP, etc etc etc...know your options so if something gets pushed out by huge crowds, you have a fallback plan.

We'll be there 6/23-6/27 and based on all the reports on here, I'm a bit worried too. We arrive mid-day on the 23rd and I'm just hoping to be able to collect fastpasses to use later in the evening (if they're not all gone, that is!)

I looked on the DL website and there are two groups of S. CA APs. The first group got blocked out last week and the second group still has this week. So I'm afraid it will be a repeat of last week with the second group trying to see the shows for the last time. We will be getting there early everyday!

Thanks everyone!

I just don't want my friend Serena to be like, "I HATE this place!" lol

We plan on getting there at 830am, so that will be a good time to start the FP process.

I would say, go to DL first thing in the morning, and when the crowds really pick up around 12-1 PM, I would hop over to CA. You can return to DL later that night when alot of families and local day trippers may have gone home for the day.

We did this a couple of times on my recent trip and it worked out well. Either way, I hope you and your friends have a wonderful time.

Well, the parks open at 8. People will have been in line at the gates starting just after 7, and definitely by 7:30.

While getting there at 8:30 (and by "getting there" I assume you mean at the gates, tickets ready) is great and good and better than what many do...you'd do better to get there earlier.

And then Tuesday is a Magic Morning day, so if you don't have access to that, you're coming into a park with people who have been there since 7am. Yes they will be in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, so if you go to a different land you will have something up on the MM people *at 8*, but getting there at 8:30 you have the MM people out from their last MM rides AND all the people who got there early for opening.

I would get there earlier to make the day EVEN better. :)
