Worried about September?

So I posted awhile back about the heat in Sept and decided we would go ahead with next Sept because I'd rather have the lowest crowds and deal with heat and be able to use pools but I didn't think about Hurricane season until this week. I read that the majority of major hurricanes have hit in Sept. I understand its rainier then too which is fine we can handle a shower here and there everyday and they prob are nice cooling things off. But what if a major hurricane comes through? I know that you cannot plan for this and it can happen and nothing you can do but does this keep any of you from wanting to plan a Sept trip? I would hate to be so excited have everything planned and then bam a hurricane pop up the week we are supposed to go. I really really want to experience Disney with super low crowds. We went the second week of Dec and it wasn't to bad but it was like a 5 most of the week. Plus I'd love to go when we dont feel cold half the time also.

I honestly think there are no super low crowd times. Probably the week after Labor Day (when schools are usually starting) and the beginning of January (after schools' winter break) are among the lowest crowd times. Once the Food & Wine Festival starts in Sept., crowds will pick up again so plan a September visit before then.

You might not encounter a hurricane in Sept., but daily rain is possible. We had rain almost every day of our August trip and still had a wonderful time! There are plenty of things to do when it's raining. We still do the rides in the rain, as long as there is no lightning. Plan to do most of your park visits in the morning. Rain often hits after 3:00pm.

I wouldn't stress about a hurricane. If it happens, it might ruin a day of the trip at most. The resort will have activities to keep everyone busy.

Enjoy!

Thanks and we def would be going after labor day early in the month. Easywdw shows this Sept from the 12th to the 20th the crowd levels in order being 4, 3, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 4 I know every year the crowds seem to go up which is fine but we'd go around these same dates and hope the crowd levels are around the same ;) We went the second week in December this past Dec and it wasn't to bad. But it was a crowd prediction of about 4/5 and 6 I think a day or two at the end. Crowds are just our biggest concern as my husband doesn't love Disney as much as me so I want it to be as enjoyable as possible for him and I also dont love crowds. You couldn't give me a free trip at the busiest time and I still wouldn't go. I know Jan is an option but I'd love for once to be able to use the pools.

We went mid Sept a couple of years ago and it was the lowest crowds I've ever seen at WDW. I remember coming out of breakfast at CP one morning and DH rode BTMRR over and over with DD6 and Space Mtn was walk on for me and DD9. We saw some lines, but for the most part...ultra low waits all trip. Granted, I think the hours were shorter and the crane was up, but still a fun time to go. We live in a warm climate that also has a risk of hurricanes, so I really don't let the weather dictate our trips.

We went in early Dec in 2010 and crowds were low, but nothing like Sept. It's blurry...but this pic from Sept was taken on a Sunday morning...about 9:20a...over by Space Mountain...

Well, you get the idea. I mean, obviously there are some people there and some areas are just prone to bottlenecking issues...but it was really a pleasant time of year for crowds.

That looks great! Tomorrow land was basically empty when we were there in Dec first thing in the am!

We always go during September and it's a great time for WDW. We were there during hurricane Faye (I think 2008 or 2009) and it rained all day every day for 6 out of our 7 days. We tried to look on the positive side of it all - the parks were EMPTY! I mean, it's like poepl just stayed in their rooms for the week or something! We toughed it out every day, had a blast, and were able to ride everything again and again due to the lack of lines. It was a fun trip regardless of the hurricane - and plus we saw some pretty cool stuff. It rained so hard one day that the sidewalks in world showcase basically flooded within seconds. it was CRAZY!

Good luck, we're going in September again this year and are expecting great weather - but will be fine if the weather is awful...cause we're at DISNEY :)

I would really hate to be there during a hurricane or tropical storm and it rain all day everyday. I feel like that would be hard to enjoy especially with little kids. BUT I can def handle some rain and it wouldn't scare us into our hotel rooms. I just hope we get lucky and have nice weather. I feel like both our past trips we have gotten crappy weather. Not awful but colder than normal and just not very nice. I would hope for one trip we could have some decent weather even if its hot that is ok.
