Worried about Polynesian Concierge

I just wanted to voice my opinion on this subject. Disney is providing a service, one that doesn't come cheap I might add, and yes you should come to expect more without having to deal with inconciderate and rude CM's. If something can't be provided then the answer should be "I am sorry, but we cannot provide that", or "we will certainly take care of that".I do not care whether someone is there for the 1st or 5th time, you are still paying for this service. With this said I do believe if you are having a problem ask for a manager or supervisor and address the problem while you are still there, remember once you come home it is to late to have that Magical Vacation. These people need to realize it is your vacation, your time to have fun, and their job to make sure you do. Yes you should expect it and I 'm sorry, but Disney needs to take some disciplinary action on the CM's who have these non-caring attitudes.........Just my opinions.....Have a Magical Vacation

Just my two cents. To quote the Tikiman
There are bad reports about every resort and they seem to come in waves but remember it is still a small percentage of all the experiences.
Tikiman is Correct. There are always a small percentage of people that are dissatisfied with their stay. I will call them CWs , complainers and whiners. These are the people that no mater what you do you cannot make them happy. Working in Customer Service for two years I found this to be true with about 5% of the people I dealt with. Are these the same 5% that you see in the lounge at 7:00 a.m. pushing their children to make it to the parks when they open, and then yelling at their children about 4:00p.m. when their kids have reached a breaking point ? Or maybe these are the same people that make a complete mess of their table and make no attempt to clean up a little for the next person. I could go on and on in regards to the rudeness and lack of manners on behalf of resort guests I have seen over the years. Working at any Resort would be the last job I would take. My Hats off to the Resort Staff.

It's a shame that you can't comprehend the fact that there are indeed some rude CM's at WDW. And there are instances where guest do have legitimate complaints.

I agree with Bojangles 100%
You are also forgetting that we are paying alot of $$$ to stay concierge at the Poly and should be treated a certain way. That is why they offer concierge, it is for those guests that want to be treated with that extra bit of magic.

Come on everyone. This is just getting ugly. This is the number one reason I don’t post in here much anymore. Disagreeing is fine but we are turning Cali’s post into a mess of mudslinging.

Cali will make a good decision on where to stay and I am sure he is happy for the advice.

We all know CM’s can be rude and yes even at the Polynesian. I have seen it myself. I also have never said that negative posts about the Polynesian or any other place should not be put in here. They absolutely should be. All I am saying is that if you are making a decision on a place and you see some bad posts look at the resort more carefully. Don’t just change your reservations because a few people had a bad experience. Yes some people are impossible to please. I have seen them in person. Yes you should expect a lot from a Disney Deluxe resort for how much you pay. Even at a cheap resort you should get a smile and a good attitude from the CMs. I have been scared myself when reading bad reports before I went on vacation but luckily I stuck with my plan and there was no problems like were reported.

On the other side of it there can be reports that tell you a resort is the best place in the world and then you go and it was horrible. My point has been said by many. Pick a resort that looks like what you want on paper and take the reviews with a grain of salt. You can get a bad CM, a damaged room and noisy neighbors at every resort. You can also have the best vacation at any of them. If you start with one that has what you want and the theme that you like than you are off to a good start. If you have already stayed there and bad reports are scaring you off than use your best judgment.

I think I have beat the dead horse enough.

Happy Holidays

Steve

Hi all!... well.. first things first.. I totally agree with Steve as to personal experience being your best guide... and with that being said... Here is my two cents :) My very first experience at Disney was at the Poly.... Concierge..before it had it's own building... anyone else remember that? The "lounge" was in the main lobby.. where the art gallery is now... and all it consisted of was some juice, water.. and cookies.. oh.. yeah.. coffee too.. and back then.. WOW.. we thought we were getting the world.. (And I paid Rack rates then also!!) Now.. the concierge has relocated.. and I was a loyal Poly concierge guest.. the CM"s were Wonderful.. but even then there was always someone who maybe didn't live up to the Disney Magic of others... (hey.. they are just people like us.. and have lives.. and problems.. good days and bad) However.. there were some Extraordinary CM's.. Donald being one.. and Diane being another.... any regular Poly Concierge guests will know exactly who I am referring to.... well... long story short (too late!!) These CM's were relocated over to AKLC when it first opened.. to help get the Concierge over there up and running.. the way it should.. well.. Longer story even shorter.. we stayed at the Poly one last time after they left.. and it just wasn't the same... after that.. we moved on over to the AKL Concierge.. and guess what??? MAGIC!!! I agree that everyone has different experiences.. however.. I aslo have to say from first hand experience.. that there truly are CM's who make your vacation Magical just by being there.. That being said... I would HIGHLY recommend the AKL Concierge.. and say HI to Donald and Diane when and if you go!!! Tell them Kathy and Mom say hi!! (They will know exactly who you are talking about.. that's just part of what makes them special!!!) Whatever you decide.. remember.. somone can make or break your vacation... ONLY if you allow them to.... Happy Holidays to all!

Whew.. I need a drink after that one!! :teeth:

Same here. Don will do his best make your stay magical.:D When we stayed at AKL concierge he remembered us from the Polynesian. I never saw him in the lounge when he didn't come up and greet us by name and ask how our stay was going. (and do his Donald Duck voice for the kids) :D

The Polynesian is a wonderful resort and I'm sure we will stay there again...just not concierge. Sorry, but when I'm paying over $400/night I don't expect to be on the recieving end of snide attitudes by the staff. :p

I'd just like to thank everyone for their thoughts and opinions.

One thing I would like to say about choosing a Disney resort. Pick what you really want, and everything will be fine. I really liked the idea about returning to the Polynesian. But, with a short stay, we didn't really need concierge. Plus, I started to miss the Grand Floridian, but of course they don't have any rooms available with the AP rate (they'd of course be more than happy to give me a room at rack rate, though). Anyways, we decided to stay at Wilderness Lodge, and have two rooms for a little space for us all. I'm sure it'll be fine, WL was our first Disney resort and we loved it. I do look forward to staying at the Polynesian again someday, as well trying some new resorts like Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Yacht Club, as well as our Disney "home" of the BoardWalk Villas. :)

Happy holidays everyone!

We spent our 10th anniversary at WL. We loved it too. :D

Yes.. How funny is he when he does that!! I just got off the phone with him from NY actually to let them know I was coming down.. not staying at AKL.. couldn't get a good rate there.. but will stop by to say HI!!.. and of course.. he had to do his "voice".. LOL!! glad to see someone else who recognized them!!

Well I just had to reply once more. Based on the fact that I have been dealing with employee and customers for 25 years.(so I know a little in this area).
1. The customer is number 1, if we do not understand this we should not be in the business.
2. Yes you will always have someone who will not be satisfied, but you still need to smile and tell the customer that you will put them in contact with a manager who will better explain reasons.
3 Disney is a place you will always expect to find children. Guess what? They will get loud.
4. Maybe Disney can put something in writing that will layout exactly what the customer is entitled.
5.Without the customer there are no jobs. Sure people have bad days, but in this job there are consequences.
6. Lets see we are paying and they are getting paid. What's not adding up? Sometimes I read some of these posts and you would think someone is paying us to be there.
8. No, I would think most CM's are tremendous, it is ashame that a few can be so impactful, but what really get me is there are people that would defend there action based on the issues they have with children or parents trying to savor every minute of their vacation.
7. This being said I'm still going to be there in less then a month
( Poly- concierge, LV).
See You Real Soon.................. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
I'm sorry Steve, but just felt somethings need to be said.

WAY TO GO WALT'S FAN---

I too can understand Tikiman's point of view, however, your points are my thoughts exactly!!!

Walt's fan,

Sorry to me? Why? No need to be sorry. I think you stated your opinion very well.

Aloha

Steve

Walts fan...
what did # 8 mean exactly? I'm a little dense. : )

But the other stuff...well said. : )

PPONY,
Do you mean when I appologized to Steve? Well in an earlier post Steve said ' it was getting ugly",and he was absolutly right.
Although I have never met the man, I do respect everything he provides within these boards. I was appoligizing because my view may be more of the same. I just feel everyone is entitled to have their own view on the resort, and/or CM and shouldn't be told it is their own fault someone was rude or inconsiderate. we are still footing the bill.
Thanks........ WALT'SFAN

Ahhh. thanks Walt's fan!

I see you're leaing in less than a month...ENJOY!!!!!! I've already uttered the words "I want to go back." Pity it'll be 4 or 5 years. : (

Safe journey.

Steph :)

No problem Walt’s Fan. I respect your opinion. You were not getting ugly. I just felt a few posts were making personal comments towards others but I don’t believe you were getting personal. Just voicing your opinion and I am ok with that.

Aloha

Steve
