Worried about 'Ohana Breakfast

DD (7) is allergic to eggs. We have reservations for the 'Ohana character breakfast, but I'm concerned she is going to be limited on what she can eat and that she'll feel left out since she can't have the "special" 'Ohana foods, like the pineapple bread.

I contacted Special Diets, but just got a general response about the restaurants and food allergies. I was really looking for specific info about what foods on the menu don't have egg. Is there someone I can contact in advance to see what can be arranged (egg-free waffles maybe?). I hate to make a huge deal about it, but since we are spending $100+ on breakfast, I want DD to enjoy it and not have to fill up on fruit and bacon!

Thanks in advance!

My son has an egg alergy also. But just direct egg. Like he can eat it when it's baked into something but can't have something like potatoe salad. I'm not sure about Ohana but when we went to a buffet for dinner we were looking at some food and I wasn't sure if there was egg in it. The cheif came out and helped us choose for our son. It was really nice and I was impressed with the service he also offered to make something if we needed him to.

My DD14 can't have egg but she also can't have milk or gluten or citrus so she's much more limitted in what she can eat. We've got a breakfast ADR here to wrap up our upcoming trip. We don't do a lot of breakfast TS meals because of the fact that so many breakfast foods are out for her but this one we're doing because we're staying at Poly at a late breakfast ADR here is just a great way to close out a Poly vacation after packing up our room and checking our bags.

She's still get leis and she'll still get the character interaction and she'll still be able to participate in the parade.

Here's what she got last time we ate there:
waffles
sausage
bacon
breakfast potatoes
fruit tray (pineapple, grapes, canteloup, honeydew)
soy milk

Unfortunately, because of the citrus allergy she couldn't even have their special juice but your DD should be able to have it. I do suspect that the breads contain eggs but I can't be sure since my kids couldn't have it due to milk (both of them are milk free; only one is gluten and egg free).

Here's their hot food platter from that meal. The fruit was on a separate platter. They had already dug in some at this point; it was full when served.

Thanks for the reply! Disney really is wonderful when it comes to food allergies! I feel like they always bend over backwards to help us avoid a run-in with eggs. I wish every restaurant was as concerned - sometimes people act like you're asking them to cut off a leg when you ask if they can check if something has egg in it. I don't think they'd feel that way when they're cleaning up the mess after DD eats eggs! *insert pukey smiley here* :rotfl:

Thanks! The recipes I've found for the coconut/pineapple bread say that it has eggs in it. I plan to ask when I get there. What about the waffles - don't they have eggs too? Luckily, DD is on a bacon kick these days, so along with the fruit, she should be OK. I keep thinking that's some expensive fruit  but I know we're paying for the "experience" too.

Thanks again!

The waffles were made without eggs because of allergies. Just be aware that she may be served gluten free waffles since the allergy waffle maker is dedicated gluten free so either they have to make them gluten free or else make them on the same waffle maker that regular, egg containing waffles are made on which means cross contamination. My DH and DD11 aren't gluten free but they do like these waffles.

Let her eat her weight in bacon. You'll get your money's worth, especially with the price of bacon these days. LOL

Those Mickey waffles are egg-free. In fact, they are top 8 free but they are still delicious. Several of the breakfast buffets on property have a dedicated waffles iron and mix to make those for food allergic guests. We've never been to Ohana for breakfast, but we get them at Chef Mickey's.

So are all Mickey waffles egg free? Or do they make them for people w. allgeries?

NO. The chef will make them special in the back for your DD. Sorry if my posted sounded like that was the case.

I want to eat MY weight in bacon now. I love bacon.

And also wanted to say that we love the Ohana breakfast--not just the food, but the characters, the astmosphere and view, the parade. We almost didn't do it on our trip last week and luckily we were able to get a last minute ADR. I think now it will have to be a tradition.

No, I was pretty that you meant they were "special" ones without eggs, but I wanted to make sure. DD likes waffles, so that should be good, especially since they're Mickey one!

It's been years since we had breakfast there (we've done dinner recently), so I'm glad to hear you had a good experience. We are bringing my mom along who has never eaten at 'Ohana (and hasn't been to the Poly in YEARS), so we're looking for to it!

Thank you all for the help! I'm not worried anymore :)
