Worried about Northwest flights in 2 weeks. Advice?

Our flights to and from Orlando in a couple of weeks are on Northwest. I know that a judge blocked the flight attendants from striking last weekend, but I also understand that was just one battle in the war.

What recourse will we have if there is a strike? Is Northwest responsible for getting us on another flight if they aren't flying? If not - what should I be doing (short of booking a totally new flight at my own cost)?

I don't understand all of the issues, but I certainly also don't understand what the flight attendants would gain with a strike, since that would essentially kill the airline. :confused3

Right now there is very little you can do. IF you choose to book another flight that's entirely up to you but NW will not assist you and probably will not reimburse you even if they go on strike.

If the FAs do strike NW will rebook you on another airline. (It's not going to be pretty, but that's another thread)

As to why they would strike...I have to say that I see both sides. The pay cuts imposed are very large. I don't think they want to strike, but NW doesn't want to pay them what they think they need to survive. (Keep in mind that a few weeks ago NW management released a booklet on how to survive the pay cuts that REALLY did endorse dumpster diving... Management has not done much to make the employees trust them!)

We're flying out of Indy in 2 weeks also. I'm not too worried. Like the previous poster said, NW will book us on another carrier.

We're on 822 on 09/16 and return flight 823 09/23. I picked them because they were non-stop and got us there fairly early. Now my husband wishes I did SW. Live and learn.

Have fun on your trip.

Is there another thread on that, though?

Keep in mind that getting booked on another carrier is a difficult proposition, especially if you're flying from airports where NW is the only or predominent carrier. Be sure you're prepared to make the best of a bad situation if you're faced with this proposition.

I am hoping we don't have to get to the rebooking thread... I just think it's going to be ugly. I have been on very few flights lately that weren't full so where would those NW passengers go?

Many experts believe that the judge wanted to wait until after the Labor Day holiday to issue any type of ruling that could result in a strike action.

Flight attendants in Memphis (a Northwest hub city) were saying today that they expected a ruling from the judge as early as tomorrow. If that were to happen, at least we would have an idea on what was going to happen.

BTW, I'm flying NW on Saturday, so I have a fairly vested interest in this, too!

I'm another one in that position too.

NW is THE ONLY airline that flies from my airport.

I guess I'll be the one scrambling if something happens.
