Worried about honeymoon

My hubbie and I went on a disneymoon and couldn't have picked a better place. He had never been there, and I had been there a lot when I was younger....it was just amazing. It was so great to spend the time together just exploring and sharing the magic. Forget the knot, they don't know what they are missing. Disneymoons are as magical as you make them, and sometimes even more than you planned (thanks to pixie dust!)

Well I prob can't say anything all the other ladies have already said on here, but it is your honeymoon and you should do what YOU want to! We are also going to Disney for our HM in December, and we cannot wait!!! I go on the knot too from time to time, for ideas, but the ladies here are all so nice and awesome, I don't feel that over on theknot. You will make friends here! And the Poly is beauuuutiful, we stayed there a few years ago. Read some of the ladies' honeymoon and even wedding trip reports here to get ideas of some extra romantic ideas and things to do. It will be magical!:goodvibes

You ladies are awesome. I'm so excited again for the disneymoon! I knew better than to feel sorry for myself and second guess the trip that we'd been so excited about. I'm having a blast reading through everyone's trip reports.

When is your wedding and honeymoon by the way?? There are alot of disneymooners going in the next 6 months or so...

Aw, I am sorry the girls on the knot made you feel badly about your choice of a honeymoon. As other ladies here have mentioned, those girls can be VERY snarky. Unless you are going to Tahiti or Hawaii (and staying at the Four Seasons, no less) they tend to look down on you. So, it's not surprising that they would think Disney is uncool. I know as soon as I decided to have a Disney wedding & honeymoon, I stopped posting over there. I pretty much knew the reactions I'd get. Forget them! You will have tons of fun on your honeymoon!

And I'm with you on the not wanting to lay on the beach thing... DF and I went to Clearwater Beach a few weeks ago and were mostly bored!!! Well, except for the one day we drove up to Disney ..:rotfl:

We are getting married November 17th and will be going on our honeymoon from the 19th-26th! I know it's busy at that time, but we really love fall and I didn't want a hot july summer wedding. It actually works out pretty well around school since it's a holiday week. I'm in grad school and FI is getting his bachelors degree so it was really hard to plan a time! I hate missing Thanksgiving with the family, but I figured it was a great way to celebrate a new family!

We are going in December for same reasons, I'm in grad school and that's our break so it was the best time for a wedding and honeymoon, even though everyone told me I was nuts for getting married during the holidays!
It's so good to have another fall bride/honeymooner here! You should do a planning journal/pretrip and trip report. I'm going to get started on mine sometime soon.

i know its not for my sianeymoos, but just wanted to say we will bein disney the 15th-22nd!

Congratulations for planning your honeymoon at the most magical place on earth:goodvibes We have never been to WDW before but we are getting married there and honeymooning there. Like Lynn, we too are taking a Disney Cruise. We are also taking in Universal, Seaworld, Busch Gardens and Discovery Cove. We are not sit about on the beach type of people, I have a military operational view to my holidays, they are planned to perfection:lmao: My view has always been, I can sit around on a beach anywhere, why spends loads of money to do it abroad? I am going to Disney because I love Disney (been to Disneyland 3 times) I believe it brings the magic out in things AND I believe it can be highly romantic, think of all the beautiful restaurants, resorts and of course watching Wishes with your husband by your side, can it be any more romantic than that:love:
Feel confident in your choice of destination, only you know you and your DF and what you both like!

I agree with all the girls on here. Disney can be very romantic if you want it to be. I just spent the most fabulous weekend with my fiance at the Wilderness Lodge this past weekend. We spent a lot of time at the Poly too. We didnt do any of the parks. We just enjoyed the resorts. We swam, went boating, rode bikes, ate yummy food. It was fabulous to just spend time with him. There are some really fun and romantic things at Disney. You'll have a great honeymoon!!! :)

I agree with you completely. A few weeks ago DF and I were were staying at the beach in a condo and drove up to Disney just for the day to look at wedding sites (we're having an intimate so we didn't get an "official" tour, just walked around and looked), shopped in DD, ate in some of the restaurants, and looked around all of the resorts. We didn't set foot in the parks and had a lot of fun just doing that. That's how we knew a Disney wedding and honeymoon was right for us. My fiance LOVES amusement parks but thought he might want something a little more relaxing for our honeymoon. After walking around for a few hours it was obvious it wouldn't be all about roller coasters and he was sold. You can make it as fast paced or laid back as you want. We are so excited!!

Glad to hear that you loved the Wilderness Lodge, that is where we are staying! I thought it was SO beautiful. I liked the look of the Poly, too, but DF didn't.

Thats funny that you're DF didnt like Poly..to each his own I guess ;) Wilderness Lodge is awesome though!! It has such a cozy feel. You'll have a great time there :) Make sure to spend some time on the beach at night. It's so quiet and romantic. I loved it there!

I KNOW! What a weirdo... haha. I love him anyway, though. Yeah, we parked at the ticket and transportation center and walked over to the Poly. It was the first resort we saw and I LOVED it. I kept jumping up and down saying "Isn't it great? Isn't it great?" He just kind of looked at me funny and said "It's okay...." He LOVED the GF (out of our budget), the WL and he even really liked POFQ and POR. Still not sure what he has against the Poly... it seems to be one of the more popular resorts.

Yeah, we actually sat on the beach in front of the WL for a few minutes the day we went up there and looked around. It was really peaceful and the pool looked so awesome.

Yeah the pool is great. Both of the pools actually. The themeing (sp?) is SO great at Wilderness!

To the OP, the pool at the Poly is awesome too! Make sure to spend some time there. And I really liked the Luau too. The dancing was great and the fire guy was AMAZING!! You should check that out if you have time :)

My DF loved the Poly but it reminded me too much of Brady Bunch, Hawaii Bound! :rotfl2: I kept getting images of cursed tiki statues and big black spiders...eek!!! Suffice it to say, we aren't staying there! :rotfl: We are, however, going to have dinner and take some photos there...it truly is beautiful! :thumbsup2

That is hiLARious! :rotfl2: I totally remember that episode. But it makes sense when you think about it! The Poly was built in the 70's, the Brady Bunch was a 70's t.v. show...

Yeah, we plan on going there too, for dinner at Ohana's. Now all I am going to think about when we are there is the Brady Bunch... :rotfl:

That is funny about the Brady Bunch...I've never thought about that but it's kinda true!! I loooove the Poly, we stayed there last year, the rooms and bathrooms seemed a good bit bigger to me, and I loved the beach at night. I expected my DF to love it to, he loves all things tiki, but he had the same reaction, "its ok". Maybe its the 70s thing w/him too. So, we are staying at the WL which I've wanted to do since I was a kid, glad to hear people love it. I think its perfect for Christmas time too. Who could argue with a Disney honeymoon after hearing all the ladies on here?

We will be at the WL close to Christmas, too! We will be there from the 13th-21st. I have heard it's really beautiful that time of year.

Awesome! maybe we'll run into each other! I can't wait, I've seen pictures of the lodge at Christmas and it looks amaaaazing. Have you made your reservation or room requests yet? I'm trying to decide what kind of room/where I want...MK side or courtyard view...I know we want a king bed, but I've read theres not alot that aren't disabled rooms.
