Hi

We are supposed to be flying tomorrow at 5pm, feeling a bit worried as Edinburgh airport is currently closed due to heavy snow with more expected later and overnight.......

Was looking at the terms and conditions of our hotel and it says any alteration less than 7 days before would be treated as a cancellation.....

Has this sort of thing happened to anybody else?

I'm beginning to panic as well. We fly out from Edinburgh on Friday, so hoping the weather improves, but its not looking good:sad1:

Hi Fiona

Assume weather is bad in Dundee today as the football was off at Tannadice (me and dh season ticket holders), but here in Edinburgh I could clear my path with a shovel and folk are out and about in their cars so how a snow plough can't clear the runways....... (selfish thoughts)

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!!!!!!

We had heavy snow overnight and its still snowing now. OH went out earlier and said people were WALKING up the fast lane of the Kingsway (a dual carriageway:eek:) At least I've been able to try out my thermals!

We also had thunder and lightening all night long which was pretty spectacular. The lightening lit up the snow!

Hope it clears up for you by tomorrow. Sending some pixiedust:

Thanks

Spoke to the insurance company, we would be able to claim for the disney hotel but not the same......
Also my friend thats coming with me and ds is due to fly up from Birmingham and meet us at the airport, not looking good......:sad1:

Hiya sending massive hugs to you and anyone else due to travel soon :goodvibes

We had terrible trouble in may because of the ash clouds and missed 3 days of our dlp trip.
The first day was just cancelled
The 2nd day was cancelled too but as our return flight was changed to a day later I insisted that our travel agent call Disney and see could they also push our departure day back 1 day.
They did after much moaning and we flew out the 3rd day :-). Came back a day later than expected :-).

This may be an option for u too?

I tell ye between volcanoes, strikes and snow I think someone is trying to stop us getting to dlp !

Best of luck to all of you travelling xx

Oh no!

We went at the same time as Rosabelle but were fortunate enough to get our flights in the window between clouds. I remember what it was like the weeks before though, just not knowing if we would be able to get there. :headache: We had back up plans for the journey, 2 in fact! Have you looked into any alternatives? Are the trains disrupted? Could you manage to get to another airport further sounth? (We don't seem to be as affected!)

For us, not going was not an option! We were going to get the train to London & catch the Eurostar if it came to it.

:wizard: to you!

Just checked and Edinburgh airport is open again, but with some cancelations. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Edinburgh airport doen't have a main train station near it, there is the disaster tram scheme that won't be finsihed before 3012 - I did type that date on purpose, nothing is happening again for about the 5th time because of disputes :goodvibes

You could get a train to Waverly or Haymarket station then out to South Gyle or Edinburgh Park and the airport is a short taxi from these - especially Edinburgh Park. Never used them so I've no idea how frequent the trains are to these.

MY BIL does taxi shuttles from home to the airport and he's been over to Dunfermline overnight, he says the roads are bad but driveable. :thumbsup2

The big problm with the airport is it's flat and open and the snow just drifts in. I hope you get away all right, more snow is expected for the next few days but the snow ploughs are out and about. We had one in our steeet last night but another 4 or 5 inches overnight so its not helped. :confused3

I really hope everything works out ok for you..in Janaury we were getting a flight from Edinburgh and the roads were REALLY bad..we got stuck on the forth road bridge for ages and they actually closed it while we were on it..we needed to get help to push the car out of Dreghorn travelodge the following morning..but we left with air france..

on the way back we were on stand by as the whole airport was behind with flights because of the snow...we were offered 200 euros per person (4 of us)..a hotel, transfers and food if we stayed in Paris that night..I said I just wanted to go home (now looking back I should have bit their hand off)..the plane was delayed because THEY couldn't make their mind up if to put us on it or not..they were waiting for 4 people on a connecting flight to get our seats...they didn't show so we got on..what looks we were getting as if it was our fault..:rotfl:..even the pilot gave me daggers!!!!:lmao:

so good luck and I wish you well but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy!

I'm hoping that in Feb the roads are clear!lol..we are going with Easy Jet then and I think there is only one flight out.
