Worried about Coral Reef...what would you do?

Other than the tanks, we really don't care much for it. We have been there three times.

However, we did enjoy our last visit there this past Jan. but, it was also due to the King Crab Legs, which of course are now off the menu.

We are going back this coming Jan. only because we are meeting up for two days with my SIL, her husband, and their DD. They have never been to WDW before, and one of their dining choice is the CR, mainly because of the tanks.

I just wish they had a better menu selection, and it wasn't so very very loud in there. But, if you've never been there, I think the tanks alone are worth it to give it a try, hey you never know you may end up liking it there.

Went to CR for the first time in August and LOVED it. The food was great, the atmosphere can't be beat and the service was wonderful. We sat in the third tier and had a perfect view of the tank. No mobbing or bothering of other diners. Keep your ressie and enjoy!

We were apprehensive too when we read bad reviews. We kept our reservation anyways and had a table next to the tank. The food and service were great, but there were occassionally strangers in our personal space and flashes in our faces--not enough to ruin the meal.

We went to Coral Reef last December and never saw any children out of their seats, let alone hanging over other tables to look at the tank.
We really enjoyed the meal there, I say go for it!

We ate there in Feb and I had also heard all the rumors. However it was fantastic. There weren't any mob scenes either and we had a table right next to the tank. Enjoy!

I'm in the minority. I would eat ANYWHERE other than Coral Reef.

Of course, our horrible experience had more to do with a really, really, really horrible waitress than with the food or atmosphere. She pretty much threw our food on the table, rushed everything, and otherwise ignored us. When she did speak to us, she was extraordinarily rude. She came and took our plates, never asked if we wanted dessert and threw our check on the table as she happened to be walking past. She treated us as if we were a personal offense to her.

It was bad. I've been to a lot of restaurants in my time and have never been treated so badly by a waitress. We were truly shocked and couldn't figure out what we did to upset her. I finally refused to deal with her when paying the check and spoke with a manager. I didn't want to leave a tip, but was on the dining plan and (according to the manager) had no choice.

Hopefully, that old witch (replace the "w" with at "b" and you'll know what I really think of that particular server) has been fired.

Even if she's still there, you might catch her on a good day or might not get her at all! Personally, I wouldn't take the chance. There are plenty of other really nice restaurants where the wait staff is nice.

We dined at Coral Reef in late August and had a fantastic time. Our food was great and our server was very attentive. We sat in front of the tank due to a reserved diver birthday message but was never crowded by anyone. I'd go again despite the fact that the diver signs will be discontinued in 09. The tank view alone is worth it.

Wow, sorry about your experience...if that happened to me I would be out of my chair finding the manager asap and demanding another server. No way would I go through my entire meal being treated that way

What year was this? If it was this year, and the tip wasn't included, I wouldn't of tipped. No one can force you to tip.

We have eaten here 3 times with the first two being great. When we went in May it was very dissapointing though. The food was not the greatest. My crab legs were cold and the other dishes were much smaller than remebered and not cooked correctly. The menu has also gotten smaller over the years. I am not screaming for everyone to avoid it, hopefully it is an isolated incident, but I dont anticipate going back anytime soon.

I've never seen a "mob" of children in there. The worst part with kids in my opinion is the lobby waiting area, but I think that's more poor sound design making everyone's voice echo off every surface, not really screaming kids! If you're worried about being uncomfortable with children coming up to the tank ask if you can be seat on the floor level but in the booths - that way you still have a great view without children coming past your table to see the tank up close.

We LOVE Coral Reef!! Stick with it!! It was the best meal we had on our trip in September and we ate at a lot of nice places!

The food was wonderful and the atmosphere is great! Give it a try!

We have been to Coral Reef twice. The first last year and it was excellent. The second was this year and it was one of the worst. I find it very hard to say anything negative about Disney, but our last Coral Reef experience was less than magical an we will not be returning next year.

I would switch.

Yeah, I'm surprised that I put up with it as long as we did. But, we had our grandson with us and didn't want to cause more problems. But, I finally had enough and managed to keep my temper somewhat. I just wanted out of there.

What year was this?

It was June, 2007. The tip was included back then, and I couldn't have it removed. Believe me, I tried!
