Ok, I'll be going to the F&WF in less than 2 weeks. I'm trying to figure out which way to begin the countries. To the right with Canada, or to the left with Mexico?

I've never noticed a big difference, but....
Many people enter via the World Gateway and most of the attractions in the World Showcase are to their right, so they go counter-clockwise. Also, most people subconsciously tend to go to their right, so if they enter from Futureworld they would be going counter-clockwise. Therefore, I would go to the left and start with Mexico.

I've tried both methods and don't really notice any signficant difference either way. I have noted that going counter-clockwise often seems to put you going against the "normal" traffic flow. It seems that Mexico is very close so people are drawn to it first.

I guess going to the right would be more natural for you guys. Being from England though I went Left around the world showcase. I did it without thinking, I guess it was because this would be the way I would go if I was driving at home!! Saying that though I didn't feel that I was going against the rest of the traffic!

The reason we have always gone to the left is because we are anxious to do the boat rides in Mexico and Norway.

We have gone both ways, as well. There wasn't a significant difference between the two directions. Although, I agree with mrssalvaggio if you are interested in doing the Malstrom in Norway go to the left first. If the line is long grab a fast pass. We also really enjoy the ride El Tiempo in Mexico! It's a nice relaxing boat ride.

That hopefully will have the 1970's videos updated!
I hope they do something since that ride has such potential, but seems so dated!

Okay. I will give the fact that El Tiempo is outdated. However, it is still a nice place to go to relax and beat the heat. Personally, I don't always like the new improvements to the rides and attractions. I agree that it has a lot of potential for possible improvements; but worry that it would only get worse rather than better. Unfortunately, it seems that to keep current that they would have to change the videos every year. I doubt they would do that. I am also not sure for me personally that I would like that.

I almost always go right, but it usually depends on where I want to eat lunch, which is almost always in one of the countries on that side of the park (France, UK, Morocco, Japan).

And I like El Rio Del Tiempo. It's very relaxing to ride during the hot parts of the day.

Thanks so much to everyone for the replies. It seems as though it really doesn't matter. It makes sense to go towards the place you are eating lunch. I'll let you know if we notice a difference.
Thanks again!

We usually go to WS twice (at least) each trip. We go one direction one time and the other direction the other time. There's really no difference at all. We just do it that way to mix it up a little.

About El Rio del Tiempo We absolutely love this ride. Its so relaxing, and it's become a part of our WDW must-do's. We ride it at least twice (sometimes more!) every trip. I hope if they do decide to "update" it, they change it as little as possible!

The direction to choose is easy for us. Go directily to Mexico "do not" pass the margaritta stand then enjoy a cool drink. I do love those margarittas. We have a special budget just for them.

There IS one other option besides right or left. As soon as you enter World Showcase, hop on a Friendship boat and go straight across the lake. Just something to confuse everyone some more.

Bob, thanks for the other option. Ya know, the wierd thing is we've never riden friendship boat. We may just have to try this out this trip.

Saa62, I love your plan!

Thanks

We typically go left. I'm not sure why we did in the past, but now it's because we're going to be staying at either BWV or BCV and that puts us near the International Gateway when we're finished.

We go left to ride Mexico, grab a fast pass for Maelstrom and eat in Akerhus..every time!!

When walking we always go to the left, to catch the boat rides in Mexico and Norway and then the model train in Germany (for DS#1)

In May we took the friendshop boat and DS wanted to take it back to where we started  so that did not save any walking....

Thanks
