Is there a way to figure out high and low seasons for the World Passport resorts? I need a comfortable place in Ft. Lauderdale / Weston area for a week starting May 31, 2007. I will call MS on Tuesday, but I'm curious. The Vacation Village at Bonaventure would work, and it has 1 bedrooms, but is it going to cost me 124 or 160 points? Doesn't seem worth the higher point value, might have to try for a Priceline hotel if that's the case.

There's no hard and fast way to know for certain. The truth is that DVC can't tell you how many points it will be, only what it is now. There is the chance you'd go in thinking it was lower and end up being higher or vice versa.

But it is possible to get a good idea if you know enough about the DVC exchange system and he demand for the resort and week. For the Miami area it's actually high demand (talking demand now not DVC seasons) for Xmas through April and for mid June through late August. Thus I would expect your exchange to be 160 points for a 1 BR. Best case scenario would be 144 points, Miami will not likely be LOW season ever.

Also realize that this resort is not 5* and is not rated that highly on TUG. Not low enough I think it'll be a major problem but lower than I'd generally look to stay at a resort. IS the Fairfield or Marriott at the beach close enough to work? or the Marriott at Doral? If not, research the resort more just to make sure it'll be OK for YOU.

Thanks Dean. I will look into it further. I think the appointments we need to be at will be in Plantation, so it might be equal distance either way. We will be spending a lot of time in the room, so a nicer place would be better!

All of those resorts are available for both the week starting before (26th May) and after the holiday (1-8 or 2-9 June). For Bonaventure they only have 2 & 3 BR units listed currently at the older section of the resort. You will not be able to get a unit that starts in the middle of the week there and it will not be worthwhile using DVC just for part of the week I don't believe. If you want to email me directly I can suggest a couple of other options for you including a couple of direct exchange thoughts.
