World of Disney Store not a Disney Store

Ok I bought some gift cards on line through ABC Gift Cards, I thought I was buying Disney Gift Cards that I could use on my trip. My first order was fine I received Gift Cards that I can use all over WDW. My second order I received Disney Merchandise Credit cards good at Disney Stores. On the back of these cards it says good for any Disney Sore in the US. So I thought ok I will use them at World of Disney. So I am told that World of Disney is NOT A DISNEY STORE (SAY WHAT) its a Disney Resort Store. How many of you Knew this?

I found out about it a few years ago when I purchased the seasonal $100 Disney GCs from Sams Club for our trip. They each came with a free $10 Disney Store card. Turned out they were good only for Disney Store retail brick/mortar locations and online - not WoD.

I ended up purchasing a limited edition costume and reselling for more than I paid. So not bad in the end...

I've always known "World of Disney" doesn't = "Disney Store". Disney stores are in the mall, World of Disney is at DTD.

Disney stores in the malls are owned as of now by the childrens place not by Disney Disney is in the process of getting them back and will own them by the Christmas holidays I was told by the manager at a local store!! WOD is owned by WdW good Luck

Umm...that manager was stupid and has no idea who he works for. Disney bought back The Disney Stores back in 2008.

I don't believe that at that time it was all of them it was in certain areas yes but I have a friend who works at Ds and her pay stub as of 2 weeks ago was from the Childrens place

Gift cards bought at the Disney Store, Target and many other locations CAN be used at WDW.

Merchandise credit can only be used at Disneystores or Disneystore online.

Here is what the Disney site says " World Of Disney Store® Explore the world’s largest Disney character store,".

The only Disney store left in Central Florida is at Florida Mall.

I don't know if this helps-but it looks like you may have been saving 6% on these cards. If you have a Target redcard you can save 5% on Disney Gift cards that CAN be used in the parks.

Yeah I found out when I had used a good Disney gift card to buy a Cinderella dress at the Disney store in the mall. Well I had to return the dress and the Disney store gave me a Disney store merchandise card in return. I was so mad as I had paid with a Disney gift card but now was stuck with a Disney store only card.

I bought these cards on line mainly to get more miles on my credit card. .I have bought some cards using my red card I can get my 5% but not miles. MY biggest problem is that it says "Can be Used at any park in the United States" and then I am told World of Disney is not a Disney Store. I have bought thousands of $$$$ of stuff at World of Disney and thought I was in a Disney Store

What I find deceiving is the picture is of a Disney gift card that can be used at World of Disney store, Online, or in local mall Disney stores. At bottom of page I did see something about some may be merch credit. Kinda misleading if you ask me.
