World of Color Superthread

At the rate things are changing they may need to rename this World Of Confusion. I'm a bit confused about the change in hours back to 10pm. How are they going to do 3 shows, with the last at 11:30 if they close the park at 10? So the be clear this is where we stand 1 month out?

There may or may not be a dinner package for WOC
There may or may not be "showpasses" for 1 or more of the WOC Shows.
THere may be 2 or 3 shows per night.

:sad2:

"The world of Confusion"- LOL! Yep, that sounds about right! Maybe even "World of Chaos!"

Disney certainly doesn't seem to have this well organized, if what we here is true.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt to Disney. When you are doing something unprecedented it is common for missteps to occur. We won't know how they did until after WOC debuts. Plus, it is not fair for us to hold Disney to a standard of clarity on issues they have not announced publicly. Most of the confusion comes from Al Lutz reports, not Disney reports. And Al will be the first to tell you the situation is very fluid. :)

Well, I know we are all acting on information from other sources but Disney did post info about "dining experience" with WoC then deleted it. Personally, I think they got too many phone calls asking about it and took it off the site until they confirm all the details.

True but the changing park hours and the Dining experience reference came straight from the Disney site. Well as a friend of mine used to say..."The situation is mutable and subject to flux.." :) We will see how this pans out. We only have a shot at it the 15th and the 18th so I hope we get to see it.

We are here now. Room 3508. Nice view, except for that stupid ride blocking Mickey's face.

Sounds like what we saw about a month ago, but more refined...now do the room #'s get larger as you get closer to the WoC viewing area?

We've been in 04 on the 2nd and 6th floors. I have one more stay with the possibility of a view before the show opens, then I won't be back until September for Destination-D, that is if we get tickets!

Not that it helps much, but there was more than a rumour/website posting of dining...my travel agent spoke directly to vacation planning about WOC dining experiences, on 5/7 and " they advised that the World of Color Dinner package will be available to book on May 11th. Please call Disney Dining Reservations (714) 781-DINE (3463) for further information".

Which of course you all have been....and it's not!

So it does seem that they are still organizing things behind the scenes. Which suggest that the info here has been right on target. SO from my pint of view, keep the info coming.

As for Disney, well, the confusion does seem understandable, and I'm sure they will sort it out. It looks fantastic so far.

Disney did post about about WOC dining on a blog. Not sure how "official" that is but someone at Disney did say it. Then they took it down as we all saw.

They did post longer DCA hours and then changed it after a few days. They did something similar in May BTW, and April too if memory serves. Nothing too out of the ordinary there.

They have really not said or done very much officially. They are trying to keep their options open as they develop a plan.

So, yes, I agree Disney has contributed to some of the confusion. Yes, Disney is being slow in making official announcements. And yes, part of what we sort of blame on Disney comes not from Disney but other rumors. :)

I saw a few days ago someone had posted on anothe mouse related board about the different colored fast pass machines. Can't remember which colored sections were the best. I can't remember posting ettiquette about links to competitive boards so I'll change the name to protect the innocent...Rat solarsystem.

So, we are going from June 22 to June25th. We were planning on avoiding WOC alltogether, but then we got our vacation planning dvd and saw how cool it looks! We have a 6yo and a 2 yo. Will they even be able to see? Should I still just plan on avoiding this and focus on fireworks and fantasmic?

exciting news on day time shows.
I am starting to think the comparison for how the seating will go is like Candlelight processional at WDW. You have two queues one for people who bought the dining package, and one for people who didn't. But both queues require you lining up at least an hour prior to the show. In this case the line who didn't pay extra will need to be holding a FP, and they will file in after all of the dining people have chosen their spots.

Ok, VP have emailed me to say that unfortunately at this time they have no dining packages for WOC, and that they realise many guests did read this online at their website, but....

So I guess we'll just have to keep watching and waiting!

Speaking of changes, I know park hours have been wonky lately, but the park hours for 6/10 have currently shifted.

Disneyland: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Magical - Disney's Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular
The Skies above Disneyland Park
8:40 p.m.

DCA: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If it weren't it being the day of the WoC media event, I'd say the change definitely won't stick. But there are a lot more logistics here than a regular grad nite (seeing as they sold tickets for an exclusive event at DCA and last I heard are planning to block off teens from the whole Paradise Pier area, meaning that some of the best thrill and other rides are inaccessible). So I can imagine them wanting to clear out the teens earlier for the media event, and get them into Disneyland earlier for the same reason.

Though frankly if Disneyland closes at 8 PM but fireworks still run at 8:40 PM, that would mean that they'd start closing off the park except maybe the hub area, the castle area, and Main Street at 8 PM. (They usually close Main Street/etc. an hour later than the park so that's not impossible.)

But that would also mean that the vast majority of the folks who visited the park would probably be watching fireworks, and so the crowds would still be in the park until probably 9:30 PM. The difference would be that by 9:30 PM all the rides would be cleared out, etc. because no one could run from Fireworks to Indy at 9 PM, for instance, as I assume they might try on a normal grad nite.

Or they might have forgotten to remove fireworks from the schedule. :confused3 Since the hours they listed may not even be right, I figure it's hard to say?
