World of color dessert party?!

My understanding is you have to use a credit card to book.

Does anyone know if there are diabetic options? My odd is T1D and while she can have whatever she wants to eat, she tries to keep the amount of insulin she injects down to a minimum because it starts to hurt.

If they could accommodate my gluten-free husband, I'm sure they would accommodate diabetic guests. Everyone gets cheese and grapes; DH had a lot more fresh fruit than the rest of us with our regular plates too. He also had special, different desserts. A CM actually called me on the phone two days before we had booked it to discuss options.

I figured as much because Disney is just like that! Nice to know, though, that someone has experienced accommodations though kwim.

I should call and talk about my husbands coconut allergy. I did mark other when they asked about allergies. As long as his food doesn't have coconut meat in it he would be ok.

I dashed my previous post off too quickly and wasn't very clear! So - I booked WOC dessert party online, noting the gluten allergy when I did so. Then I called a couple weeks prior to our trip and talked to a CM to make sure all of our reservations had his allergy clearly noted. (Mostly I did this b/c with WDW, it's more detailed to book an ADR with an allergy note, so they know which member of the party has the allergy. No way to do this with DLR - which seems weird b/c it seems like they'd want to know if the member of the party with the allergy is a child or adult.) The CM went through everything, and we chatted about how WOC food works. Then two days prior to our booked WOC date (and this is where my wording above was confusing!) - a CM called to confirm the allergy and discuss the food options. I assume this is because they plan out the food restricted plates the day prior, so they want to make sure you're still planning to keep the res before they do that. I was very specific that DH would rather have more fruit and savories than sweets, and she noted all of that - and that may be why he got a ton of fruit but not as many desserts.

Hope the extra details help a bit!

Be sure to call and talk to them. One of the desserts contains coconut.

When booking online, could I pay with a gift card? My booking window is coming up.

I had to call in order to use a gift card. They insisted it was an option, and the lady who finally booked it really had no idea what I was talking about so be persistent.

Plus, I just booked mine only two days in advance.

Ha! :rotfl:Same for us - DH told me to "stop looking for amazing things we need to add". We have also convinced ourselves with need Blue Bayou in our lives as well!

Haha, we were opposite! I wasn't sure about BB PTN but we were planning to eat there anyways, and DF convinced me. He didn't know we're doing the dessert party to-i told him it had really bad reviews... little white lie

I'm a little tardy with this post, but I wanted to come back to this thread to let folks know that we did the WOC Dessert Party on May 6, and it was fabulous. The seating/viewing for the show are fantastic (we sat at one of the tables in the back row with the higher stools, because I am short, LOL), and it was such a great way to see WOC. We really enjoyed the dessert platter, and the service was terrific. My son ended up with a platter that was missing one of the items (I can't remember which one now). When we pointed this out to our server, my son had already eaten about half of his platter. Instead of just bringing him the missing item, they brought him an entirely new platter, and left the one he was already working on. I'm pretty sure our servers would have brought us multiple alcoholic drinks, but when we switched and wanted half hot chocolate and half coffee, that was no problem. I would definitely do the Dessert Party again.

So far this is my one big splurge, and I'm getting so excited! I haven't told my family yet. I'm trying to decide if there is anything else we "need" to add on, but it's already an expensive trip overall.

Our son is T1D also. Don't you find that the sugar free options have almost as many, if not more, carbs than the standard? That has been our experience. On the plus side, looks like the plate has cheese on it too, which would be a nice protein/fat balance to keep the sugar from spiking quite so high. Doesn't help with the amount of insulin, but at least might help a crazy high afterward.
