I just want to make sure I have the correct info. We are doing lunch at the Carthay Circle, in part for the World of Color package, we can order one appetizer and one dessert--like my husband gets an appetizer that we share and I get a dessert we can share?

Also, what about kids? We will be with a five year old. I don't see an appetizer menu for them. Does that mean they MUST order dessert?

Just want to make sure we don't screw it up.

Correct for the adults, as long as you're both getting a main course.

For kids, others will be able to help you out!

You need to get a main course per adult PLUS an app and a dessert (per table)? Wow, that's a lot to ask for a FP that many feel isn't any better of a spot.

Maybe, but this only holds true for Carthay. The other restaurants that give FP's don't have that same requirement. That's why we're doing Wine Country for ours. We'll still eat at Carthay, though, just. We just don't have to order things we may not want.

Same thing for kids as adults...each must order an appetizer or dessert and an entree.

Ah, ok, that makes more sense. So it's an entree OR an app and dessert both.

No. It's an entree PLUS a dessert OR appetizer for each person, from what I understand. I'm still not clear if that holds true for children (Disney children ages) or not, as I've seen varying opinions at different places online.

Not really. We felt it was very reasonable. DD16 and I had lunch there, we shared 1 appetizer, each had an entree and shared a dessert. Maybe if you have more people, but even if our family of 4 went I think this would be totally reasonable. If we all 4 went we would get 2 appetizers and 2 desserts for the table to share plus an entree each.
And I absolutely felt the spot was better then the standard viewing areas.

I don't believe the viewing spot is the same. And we had no problems choosing things we wanted, not one problem. LOL

Do the kids order their appetizer from a special menu? I haven't seen a kids menu but wondered.

For Carthay Circle dining to qualify for the WoC FP, each diner is required to purchase an entree and either an appetizer or an dessert, these can be shared with the table but each person must order 1 of those items to qualify for the WoC viewing area. :)

It is the same for children too. There is no separate menu for kids appetizers, but they have a separate dessert menu.
Anyone that wants a WOC FP needs to order and entree and either a appetizer or dessert.

Thanks for clarifying.

I've used the WCT picnics viewing area and I didn't think it was any better than the FP machine areas, so I probably wouldn't bother. But it's interesting to see the rules.

The picnic gives you the same FP that is available for free in the machines. The dining packages at CCT or WCT offer FP's into the preferred seating area.

Really? This is news to me. Which pages of the WOC superthread describe this? Or you can just tell me :).

I believe I read it here. Not on the super thread because I don't use that thread, I don't need it. Also based on my experience, the people in our area were all talking about the meals they'd had at CCT, we were discussing what we had all eaten and how great it was. No one was discussing WCT meals at all. But as I said "I believe" it is a different area but I don't know for sure, I don't enjoy WCT so I don't eat there and I didn't ask the CM working the section.

This I can confirm 100%. DBF and I went with his family last month, they all did the picnic meals and we just grabbed a FP from the machine, we all had the same section, yellow. :)

Qustion....do they consider items from the soup/salad menu as an appetizer? Just gives me some additional options!

When I asked I was told no, it had to be an item from the actual appetizer menu.

i was hoping one the salades might have been used as entre but not sure they would

I think it depends on your server. My server allowed us to order a salad as our app, but specifically told us we couldn't order the biscuits as an app. So I don't think it is very consistent. Best to ask your server until Disney gets a consistent policy on this.

Thanks for the info and I will ask the server. Some of the salads are the same price as the apps! I really would like that simple salad...the warm brie and apricots sound so yummy!

Keeping my fingers crossed. 17 days until my dinner there! :cool1:

Here's the menu from the site here on the DIS:

Also, the viewing area for those who ate at Carthay Circle Restaurant is preferred, and in my opinion, better than regular viewing.
