Heading down with my daughter's dance team on 7/1 for her competition at CSR and wondered if the World Cup is having an impact on the number of groups coming from Brazil this summer? I know that it will end before our trip, but just curious if anyone knows if that has had an impact?

Thanks in advance!

The World Cup ends July 13th.

I was wondering the same thing, we arrive on July 13th, have been on vaca this week, has been loving the World Cup games, hopefully they will all stay in Brazil and only come to dw the next week, when I safely home!!!!

I have been here for over a week and I have seen a few groups here even while the World Cup is still going on. I have also seen a few sports and music groups also. Nothing like the groups I have seen in July though. I would expect July to be business as usual.

I agree.:)

I personally don't think The World Cup is going to have any effect at all on July South American Tour Groups.:)

1)The World Cup ends on July 13
2)A LARGE number of the SATGs are actually from Argentina as well as smaller numbers form Ecuador, etc.
3)I don't think these 15 year old girls are going to give up their "once in a lifetime" trip to NYC/WDW/Miami to stay home for The World Cup-it is a HUGE thing for them to take the USA trip!:)

These are 15 year old girls we're talking about and this is THE trip for them.:)

Thanks for replies, and for some reason I thought I saw something that the world cup ended next weekend...probably the preliminaries. Gotta learn how to use this internet thing!

Appreciate the feedback, was hopeful that maybe fewer groups were coming so they could enjoy the WC in their backyard....wishful thinking!

Well, I guess my 15 year old son will be happy then! :)

15 year old girls? Most of the BTG's I've run into have lots of men - late teens, early 20s. Some older. Older girls as well. It was a mix. I'd maybe expect some of that demographic to stay home due to the World Cup, but I don't think the impact would be a noticeable one. While it may be a big deal to them to visit the USA, it's equally a big deal for their country and possibly home city to host the World Cup. Soccer is a MUCH bigger deal there than it is here.

I think the only difference will be that the chanting will be much louder on the buses.

Here now and the Brazilian tour groups are EVERYWHERE! There are also special CM's all over the parks (green shirts) to help out with them (Portuguese speaking). And yes, most are teenage girls. I was surprised at how many are here now since it's still June.

We just came home today :(, and I was surprised at the number of BTG for June. We have been to WDW several times in June and July and thought there were more groups in July, but we saw more this June than the same week two years ago.

Many groups were groups of 15 year old girls, but we did see some groups that seemed to be families.

Was there last week and noticed a lot of tour groups. I'm not familiar with this. Is it a special thing that only happens in summer for 15 year old girls?

I agree!:)

Also, the "interaction" between the BTGs and ATGs will reach new "levels" if they meet in the Finals!lol:)

I always go to WDW in July for my Birthday(lucky me with a July Birthday!;):))and have learned the BTGs and ATGs do not like each other AT ALL!

I have seen them pointing and shouting at each other at Bus Stops, etc. and since I don't speak Portuguese and Spanish,I don't know what they shout to each other, but I don't think it is "Let's all go get a Dole Whip!"!:)

The Super Greeters always assure us that it will never escalate into anything physical, but it can get pretty wild.

We usually end up talking to some of both the ATGs and BTGS when we run into some that speak English and we have found most of them to be really, really nice young ladies and many of them wish me Happy Birthday when they see my Birthday Button.

But when the ATGs and BTGs "collide" LOOK OUT!lol:)

And if they meet in the Finals DOUBLE LOOK OUT!!!!!lol:)

Not all the groups are 15 year old girls, but the majority are.:)

For these girls, coming to WDW(their trip also includes NYC and Miami in many instances)is considered a "rite of passage".:)

They take the trip in place of a "traditional" 15th Birthday Party at home.:)

I believe the schools were let out early this year in Brazil for the World Cup which probably accounts for the heavier June BTG crowds.

Loved your Dole Whip statement. I truly did laugh out loud.
