Just wanted to share, today is the first ever World Clubfoot Day!

My son was born 12/2011 with Bilateral Clubfoot. We followed the Ponseti method for treatment (serial casting, tendons cut, and braces). Trying to spread awareness since even though it is a very common birth defect a lot of people don't know anything about it!

Clubfoot : (From webmd) What is clubfoot?

Clubfoot (also called talipes equinovarus) is a general term used to describe a range of unusual positions of the foot. Each of the following characteristics may be present, and each may vary from mild to severe:
The foot (especially the heel) is usually smaller than normal.
The foot may point downward.
The front of the foot may be rotated toward the other foot.
The foot may turn in, and in extreme cases, the bottom of the foot can point up.

Thank you for the information. I hope your little guy is doing well.

My daughter was born with a club foot and had the casts, exercises and then special reverse last shoe. When she was little that foot was a different size than the other as it wa s wider and shorter. She never had any handicap from it and at age 3 started ballet etc. She played spoerts and is quite the accomplice equestrian. She is 33 now and her feet grew to be the same size. Her only problem is she can not stand to have her feet touched! Best of luck to your son.

Thanks so much for your story! He is doing well, walking and doesn't mind his braces at night at all. He also does not like his feet being messed with! I wonder if he will always feel that way.
