Yes boring and yes it’s a holiday, but I am away 19 days and I run several businesses, 2 of them have staff and we have systems in place for me to go away and it not all fall apart ;-) However 1 is a new small business with my father-in-law and he is on this trip also, this means we need to check the business email daily, we have got WorldSim’s and can divert our calls to that so that side is covered but I am bit worried about the reports of wifi being rubbish in Disney Hotels. Is it so bad I can’t download email or surf the web? Is there an alternative like cat5 access, is that any better? I will also have 2x USA sim cards with unlimited data/2gig of data but I have no idea if they can be tethered to allow a hotspot or not. It would be good to know the experiences of anyone else “forced” to run a business all be it for just 10 mins per day while in Disney.

I only plan to check the email in the morning and then forget about business the rest of the day, it is a holiday after all ;-)

I am not good with IT, in that I just switch it on and use it. Pretty efficient then, not a clue what to do when it goes wrong/slow. I also get 100 + e mails a day which is don't want to come home to. I got up an hour earlier than the troops every day last August and did my work e mails on an i-pad using Disney Wi-Fi at the Beach Club. Had zero issues. Now I didn't try and stream any massive media data, but for my e mails I was fine. The Wi-Fi was also fine for me in the parks for chat rooms and the like. So I can't give you a technical answer, but I did okay with my e mails with the Disney Wi-Fi.

Thanks, as long as email is just fine, everything else is a bonus ;-)

The Wi-Fi is best in the resorts of a morning.

DH & I both have to work on holiday its just part of our jobs and running a business.

There is no wired internet access in any of the resorts now which is a shame as it was more reliable. When we have had connection issues we have rung the helpdesk and they have rebooted the router for us which helps however it is not the fastest connection.

We have AT&T sims in our iPhones so check the email on the go as they give us 4G coverage in addition to anything we get with wifi.

I work while away too and have had no problems checking emails in resort or in parks

Just to add if you need anything more than email speak to conceirge.

We were at okw and they were happy to print a document for dh and possibly fax it too.

I too work while away and in OKW last year, 1 hour in the morning at 6-7am was fine. I found that enabling defaults for all the wifi settings (ie don't tweak anything like DNS etc) worked best. For some reason Google DNS wouldn't work let alone my own DNS server (yes I'm a geek).

I also got an AT&T Sim and kept on top of emails from the parks. There is something tremendously subversive about answering work queries from the queue at Peter Pan or Dumbo!

Another one who has to keep an eye on things whilst away. Never had a problem with email in Disney resorts.

I also have to check my emails and never had a problem. I also used my blackberry as a wifi hotspot for my tablet and that worked fine as well.

Don't you think it's a bit scary how many of us who are supposed to be on holiday actually work ??????

Indeed but then if I didn't have my own businesses I doubt I be able to afford the amount of money this type of holiday can end up costing ;-)
