Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Tandy - GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!! :thumbsup2

Beth - Congratulations on finishing the 16 miles. There's something about those distances over 14 that gets tough. I've threatened not to do a LR over 16 while training for my next marathon, but now that I've actually registered for one, I guess maybe I'll do more. I'm good to about 16, but after that I start having those horrible conversations with myself, even when I'm running with other people.

Challenge update - Water complete, plus some. We're considering moving our offices into the bathroom just to make life easier. :rotfl2: Half the dairy done, and half the veggies done. Fiber - I just don't know. That's a LOT. I'm not even a third off the way there, and it seems hopeless. DH is in the shower now and then we're headed to the grocery store to see what we can do about buying things to make this easier!

Oh, I am hearing some fiber angst! Let us reveiw.......

Fiber is 'oh, so important'. Everyone has difficulty with getting it all in. I will caution everyone now.....if you are not getting 25 grams of fiber at this time.....go slowly to increase it. It does cause alot of gastric issues (as in gas! :lmao:). If you are one working towards 25 grams as a goal, I will credit the point if you show that you are working up your totals week to week. It is all about lifelong, healthy habits. This is a long race, not a sprint.

Some ideas......look for high fiber breads, English muffins, wraps. One high fiber wrap can have up to 14 grams of fiber in one wrap! :thumbsup2 Thomas's high fiber English muffins are 5 gr fiber, and only 100 calories.

Fruits and veggies are our friends, and also high in fiber. Look up some totals on Sparkpeople, or another calorie web site. Some of them are loaded with fiber. Think blueberries, raspberries, broccoli.....

Some of the drink mixes are made with fiber added. One lemonade packet for a water bottle can have 1 gr of fiber! That can add up if you are drinking your 64 oz of water (yes Jeanne, it was a typo!).

For those with some gas issues.....don't worry your body gets used to it, and it won't cause the gas issue for long! ;)

The point list is to help you......they are great habits to live by, even when your eating gets out of control. If you keep the habits all the time, it's much easier to 'get on the wagon'!

Let me know what issues you have.......I might be able to help!

Beth

Good Evening, Lean Ones!

Just for grins, I decided to see how much fiber I ate today. I'll be honest, I was just not even going to try for 25 grams because I had no idea how much I ate, and that sounded...optimistic. With everything but dinner and dessert, I've had:

Banana nut vitamuffin 5
Pineapple 2
Yogurt 2
LC Butternut Squash Ravioli 5
Cape Cod Reduced Fat Chips 1
Hostess 100 cal cupcakes 4

That's a total of 14g, and I missed my usual other two veggies and grapes. I think 25 is doable! The Hostess cupcakes are a real bargain -- 4g of fiber and only 1 WW pt...I don't dare read the ingredients, I just use them to quell my urge for sweets. ;)

Tandy -- You are going to have a fantastic race! :cheer2:

Beth --Thank you for running this Challenge, it comes at the perfect time! :dance3: And Congrats on those 16 miles, you are the real warrior woman!

Jackie -- I actually have come to like drinking alot of water. I know it sounds odd, but it really makes me feel more alert :confused3 I'm glad my "guilt" was helpful -- you guys are usually making me do workouts I don't want to do!

Debra -- Starting at ground zero means there's no place to go but up (or down as the case may be!). You are totally going to rock this out! I guess fish really are friends, for you, not food. Nothing wrong with that, no scary smells coming out of your kitchen! I love a cleaned up Desmond...I'm really glad he got his own week, I was starting to miss him.

Vicky -- No salmon? Are you sure he's a keeper? I can't talk, my dh abhors all things Disney :scared1:

Kim -- Although I won't officially weigh in until tomorrow AM, I am with you. This has not been my best week, and TOM officially arrived today, just to put some extra lbs I hadn't counted on in the Challenge. Think how great we're going to feel next Friday!

Jeanne -- They're going to be taking in those MOB and MOG dresses, 'cause the lbs are going to drop off of you, once you get that water going! :drinking:

Cindy -- Are you out running in the rain? What a nasty day! And no fish for you, either? You'd better make up for it with some of Mike's Pastries! :rotfl:

Ok, so this is not going to be my best Challenge day, as I've gone off my normal week day diet -- but I'm hoping to redeem myself with dinner, and I might get a few more points. So far, I've drank all the water, I'm over halfway on the fiber, I got 2 pts for exercise (lovely brisk walk, since I'm doing my LR tomorrow and upping it to 7!), had 2 veggies, half the dairy, and done the situps. Doing all these things is really going to help me reach my goals, these points are brilliant! :yay: Now that I read over it, I'm doing ok!

Maria :upsidedow

Just a quick one to post my starting weight. 148.2. UGH. Downward from here.

Have a great night everyone. Good luck tomorrow Tandy.

Cindy

Tandy: Good luck with your race tomorrow. You will rock it out!

Maria: I am glad the healthy habits/daily points are helpful to you. It's a great way to get a snapshot of things we should be thinking about. I didn't know those little cupcakes had so much fiber! Nice to know! :thumbsup2

Cindy: You are in a good place with your training! Don't worry, things are all on the way down!

AFM: I actually took an hour nap today (thanks to those 16 miles). I don't usually have the time to nap, but today was not much of a choice. My kid had me up since 4 AM, so I was exhausted.

I made a 'healthy' peanut butter fudge yesterday. It's a nice little treat for less than 50 calories, for one inch sized piece! I did have a piece after my run today!

Beth

Good morning ladies. Just wanted to get on to say that I think I love this plan. :lovestruc Being held accountable for water, fiber, dairy, fruits, veggies and exercise REALLY keeps you on track. I got in everything yesterday. The fiber was, in fact, easier than I thought. Once I looked at how much was in all the veggies I was eating, I went over the 25. Water was great. I have always needed to drink more water, and now, I know how much is in my portable bottles and how many of those bottles to have.

Anyway, because I ate so well yesterday, I woke up feeling great and energized. Now, I just need to go kick some butt!

Tandy

Good Morning, Lean Lovelies! :flower:

I'm reporting in with my starting weight -- up almost 3lbs to 193.8...I'm blaming TOM, and ignoring the junk I ate this week. Onward and downward, right?! :thumbsup2

I've gotten my exercise points for the day. I did my 7M, and followed it up with 20 sit ups. I really felt good doing my workout, I know I could have gone to 8, but decided to stop for time reasons. I did 7M in 82 minutes, so that's a great pace for me. Next weekend I may go up to 8, it depends on how I do this week with getting 6M in most days. We have a lot going on next week, so time will tell.

Tandy -- I can't wait to read your report, you are going to cruise! :cool1:

Beth -- Ah, the luxury of the nap! I hope you enjoyed it tremendously, what a wonderful treat! :cloud9: Now you know we need that pb fudge recipe!

Cindy -- It is a gorgeous day, I hope you are having an awesome workout! :goodvibes

No Saturday slumps today, Ladies! We are going to plan those meals and snacks and feel good about ourselves when we go to sleep tonight! :cheer2:

Maria :upsidedow

Maria: I actually try to be a little heavier on the first weigh in! WW, I used to wear jeans or something to weigh in the first time....after that I would always have an 'control' outfit to wear each weigh in (that were very LIGHT!) You know how it goes! The first week is usually a good one then! ;)
Your workouts are right on target!

Tandy: I am glad that you are appreciating my little healthy habits! They are good formula for a lifetime! Good luck today!

AFM: My day didn't start off real good. I had to take ds#2 to Environthon practice today, and went to the wrong dang park. He was then 15 minutes late after we figured it out. I am not the best mom in the world today.....sigh..... I had it wrong in my schedule book. That little mistake has screwed up my day in general. I have to fit in a run somewhere along the way.....time to be creative I guess!

Beth

Hi ladies.

Well, I did it! I finished in 1:46:22! I was way ahead of the 1:45 pace group and almost running with the 1:40 pace group for the first 5 miles. Then, I started evening out. At mile 8, I tried to eat my sports beans, and proceeded to feel sick to my stomach for the rest of the race. I have never had Gatorade before and had that about 1/2 mile after the beans, so it didn't sit well. At mile 10, I was done. But, I pushed it out and got a really good time. I think I need to be more mentally prepared for the next one and not eat at all!

Beth: I'm sorry your day got all screwed up! Hopefully, it is getting better. Your WW weigh in strategy made me laugh. Makes perfect sense to me.

Maria: Congrats on 7 miles! Each step is a big one to me. I still can't believe you run 6 miles everyday! Wow!:thumbsup2

Jackie: I now know how huge it is that you've signed up for a marathon. Our first 11 miles were on the same course as the marathon. When we split and went one way and they went another, I felt so sorry for them! I don't think I'll ever be mentally or physically ready for a marathon unless I walk part of it. I talked to hubby about the Goofy for 2013 (our 20 year anniversary) and told him I think I could do it if I run the half and walk the full. He still thinks it's crazy, but he's not a runner, so what does he know? :lmao:

Thanks for everyone else's support!

I made a mistake today and decided to go to the KC zoo after the half. I was hurting bad by the time we were there for 2 hours! So, now I'm going to bed!

Jackie: Again, two big thumbs up for signing up for the MCM. It IS such a big deal, and you're gonna love the race. Tons of spectators, a great course, and lots of places to get a decent post-marathon beer. :thumbsup2 You're not just a half-marathon fanatic but a marathon fanatic.

Jeanne: I do not envy you your multiple tax-filing chores. DOOD and I just did ours yesterday and it's such a headache. And while I don't mind paying a fair share of taxes, looking at our city tax this year – after seeing how our mayor did not handle the winter weather emergencies – made me a mite bit cranky. You have the patience of a saint!

Beth: That's a great pace for your 16 miler. And I know what you mean about the mileage being daunting. I'm back down to the puny 3 milers right now and can't imagine that I've done more before (and will do it again). You're strong to keep going, no matter what you had to say to yourself to accomplish that, and at that pace, too! :worship:

Mmmmm, peanut butter fudge. Sounds delicious, although I'm suspicious of my own ability to stop at just one piece. I'm weak-willed. And I think you're a great mom – your DS was a little late, but it's your running that has to be adjusted. See, you prioritize your family.

Tandy: Woot woot! What a fabulous, fabulous time for your half! And a great experience as well, from the sounds of it. I'm so proud of you--I'll eat your dust any time! And yeah, Goofy will be yours. I can tell. Sorry to hear about the slight tummy troubles, but am glad it wasn't worse than it was. I hope you're feeling mostly recovered today, after the KC zoo touring. I am a big fan of walking after a race, but that might have been a bit much. :lmao:

Maria: You rock with your 7 miles, woman! Congratulations on taking that extra step (or couple of thousand of them) and at a wonderful pace. And for feeling like you could have done more. I love the fact that doing all the things on the list, crossing theme off, is motivating. I feel the same way.

Cindy: I know just how you feel – as do so many of us. It's one of the few areas where a downward spiral is a good thing. I'm hopeful that your stomach issues subside and the rest of your BL challenge can keep pace with your fabulous race training.

AFM: Okay, I'm on a mini-working out streak, which is good. I'm still way too tired afterwards and that lets me know how much of a slacker I'd become. But I'm sticking with it, and with the sit-ups. So far, I've gotten all my points for the BL challenge each day. (The fiber is a bit of a pain, made easier for me by the vegetarianism.) The scale has yet to move, but I'm so grateful to have those things accomplished, to say that I am making progress. Thanks! :hippie:

I hadn't realized how I'd slacked off on the water intake until the BL challenge, Beth. My body thanks you as it clears out some of these toxins. (And that's as much detail as you get. :rotfl:)

Our big stressor this weekend, taxes, is over with. Very little tension, just a lot of resignation about paying them. And no food issues to go along with them this year, although I confess to snapping a lot of gum and gnawing on carrots. Yep, tension chewing. Better than grinding my teeth! :rotfl2:

Good evening my Lean Ladies! Nice to see Debra stop by! We are so glad you are back! :lovestruc

Debra: I hear ya about the tax situation. Dh is responsible to get them done every year, and it is usually the last minute. He did take the stuff in, but we have yet to hear the damage!

My weekend was consumed with making new recipes. That's what happens when I 'start' again with this weight loss thing. I did find a recipe that uses lean turkey with some spices to make an alternate sausage patty! I do love a 'sausage mcmuffin' but the sausage is a big calorie eater! I made them today for the week of breakfasts, and they turned out really good! One patty is only 80 calories, and basically little fat (depending on your ground turkey meat). It taste very much like a turkey sausage!

Tandy WTG! Nice time! I knew you would rock it out!

AFM: I still need to get in my 30 minutes of exercise.....the weekend has flown by me! I did get 3 miles in last night.....and I guess that's what I am doing tonight! My attempt will be to get up a little earlier tomorrow to get in 6 or 7 miles in before work. I have to confess, I HATE getting up so early. I know it's the best thing to do, but boy sometimes I just get cranky about it! I did get to sleep in today, which was wonderful.......but short lived!

Eating is on target pretty much. I am getting my water in. And my fiber was 35 grams yesterday! Not too shabby! The challenge is helping me out this time too!

Beth

Hi lean ladies! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Beth - WTG on your 16 miler! I'm still struggle with the idea of a long run too. I start thinking how much time it's going to take and start procrastinating ... and it kind of snowballs from there. Great pace btw!! Can you share your turkey sausage recipe (and the peanut butter fudge  )? I love breakfast sandwiches but I'm with you - the sausage is a killer! I'm going to add popcorn to your list of high fibre foods but it does have a lot of salt. I eat the low fat type and use it as an alternative to chowing down on chips when watching movies at home.

Debra - WTG with the mini workout streak! What kind of exercises are you getting in? I'm curious because I'm looking to do something other than walking and gym exercises. I don't have access to a pool or a bike so I'm kind of limited while my ankle is getting better. And I hear ya on the taxes - my dad gave me a birthday "present" of cash last year until he told me he's claiming it as a business expense. WHAT?! So I ended up paying for my present ...:headache:

Tandy - Congrats on your first 1/2 and what a fantastic time! I remember you said you wanted to finish in 1:50 so you did that and a little extra! Was the Gatorade on course full strength? So when's your next race and what's the new time goal? :cutie:

Maria - Ya know the keeper question is one that I've been asking myself lately and because of the salmon :rolleyes1  But seriously, he'll eat salmon if we go out for Japanese ... just not at home. Cupcakes with 4g of fibre? Sign me up!! :thumbsup2 The closest thing I've found are these snack bags of sweet popcorn that have about 110-130 calories (depending on the flavour) and 5g of fibre.

Cindy - As Maria says onward and downward from here! Hope your training is going well :thumbsup2

Jackie - Be careful about the office/bathroom suggestion! I'm laughing about it because we've run out of workstations on our floor at work so they might just do that :cutie:

AFM - I've been getting in my exercise, it's just walking 3 miles but I figure it's better than nothing for now. I forgot to count my fibre so I'll start doing that tomorrow. Ate dinner out on Saturday and ended up going to a steak joint. I skipped the diet soda, drinks and only had two pieces of bread. I walked out feeling full but not stuffed. I guess I never realized how much bread and soda, I was loading up on before  But boy how I do miss the diet soda. I stared at a can of Diet Dr. Pepper for a really long time today!

Tomorrow, I'm getting a workout buddy. One of the actors we need to get into shape is coming to train with me and my PT. Should be interesting since I've been doing my training with just my PT and myself for so long. But I'm thinking it will be fun!

Have a great night everyone!

Vicky - We have extra office space if you need to use some. Might be a long commute, but I'd be happy to share! Often during the winter the bathrooms are the warmest space, so we've wished we COULD work in there.

Debra - As the time gets closer, I may ask for the suggestions on where to get that post-marathon beer. Although now that I'm hanging out on the BOT board, it seems that the best option may be Matt's home brew. I'm keeping my options open!

Tandy - GREAT JOB on your race! You totally rocked! Sorry you had a bad experience with the beans. You need to experiment with different combinations - I wouldn't necessarily try to do without eating next time, just try other things on your long runs to see what works. Gatorade right after may not be the best idea.

Beth - Thanks for the fiber pointers. I spent a long time at the grocery store on Saturday reading labels on everything I bought. DH thought he wanted to go with me, but I made him stay at home. Wise decision on my part! I made the 25 grams both Saturday and Sunday. Water isn't a problem for me - I'm a huge water drinker on a regular basis, but sometimes early in the week I have to remind myself to get the full 64oz. Closer to my long run, I go into serious hydration mode.

DH thinks I've lost my mind. We ate dinner last night at the hot bar at Whole Foods. He mentioned that the sweet potatoes weren't as good as usual, and I said I wouldn't know since I don't like sweet potatoes. He looked at my plate and said "Why did you get them?" I said "They have fiber and they're a vegetable." He just shook his head. :confused3 Whatever works... I got all 7 points yesterday!

Jackie

Good morning ladies.

Jackie: I had been using the beans on my long runs, I just think that mixed with the Gatorade and the excitement of the whole thing, it was too much for my stomach! Lesson learned. And, yes, I'm sure I'll have to eat something. You can't run that long and not have something. They were handing out GU at mile 8 and 10. Maybe I should train with that.
It sounds like you're doing great on the challenge. I, personally, love sweet potatoes. But, I do find myself trying to pick the food items that get me the most bang for my buck. Now, if I could just find a food that was a veggie, high in fiber and dairy, I'd be set.

Vicky: I have already been thinking about my next race. I think I'm going to limit myself to 2 a year and just do the KC half in October. I'm going to keep my weekly long run at either 8 or 10 miles so I don't have to work as hard as the race gets closer.
How's the ankle feeling with the walking? Do they have any idea when you'll be running again?
I am a Diet Dr. Pepper lover as well. I haven't had anything for weeks now, but I still dream about them! They are the best ever!

Beth: Did you get the run in this morning? I love the breakfast sandwiches too. We go for the turkey bacon, egg, 30 calorie cheese and an english muffin. My son loves them. I use ham sometimes also. I just assumed sausage was out. Please share your recipes! :lovestruc

Debra: Yah to taxes being done! :woohoo: Mine were done ages ago, but that's just because they're simple and straight forward for us. I used to own my own business and that was a pain every year. I feel your pain. Good job staying on track. It'll get easier as you get back into it.

AFM: Did 3 miles today. I was so sore all weekend that I did nothing except a 30 minute walk Sunday night. Oh, and I planted a garden for a friend.
I've been impatiently waiting for the race results to be posted. I came in 2nd in my age group. It's a good thing I turned 40 last week, huh?:rotfl:Those 20 and 30 somethings had a lot more women faster than me. I ended up 22 of all the women though. I just wish I hadn't had to stop to go to the bathroom at mile 1. When I got to the race Saturday morning, I decided I was going to shoot for 1:45. If I hadn't had to pee, I could have made it! :lmao: At least I was hydrated!

I'm doing pretty good on the challenge. I didn't get situps in on Saturday. And, I only got 1 exercise point yesterday, but the eating has been the best. I just feel so good eating this healthy! Of course, Saturday, after I ate to get my points, I ate 2 whole boxes of donuts. But, since I ran for almost 2 hours, who cares?

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. :flower3:
Tandy

Good afternoon Lean Ladies! Another Monday on tap!

Vicky: How's the ankle feeling? It's good that you are still walking (if it doesn't hurt it) to keep yourself moving! I would like to swim sometimes, but my gym doesn't have a pool either....a real bummer!

Jackie: You made me laugh out loud with the sweet potato comment! True....we must do what we must do to get those points!!!! I bet your dh thought you were crazy! WTG getting all your points in!

Tandy: I bet the Gatorade was the problem! I usually dilute mine with a water on the course. Full strength gatorade always makes me sick!

AFM: I have been eating well, and getting my points in! Salad has been top on the list for the veggie/fiber thing! Last night I wrote everything down, and figured out I needed another fruit....so it was an orange at 9PM! (((with a 1/2 glass of skim milk to get the dairy in too!) I missed the sit ups on Saturday.....and I know that will be a problem since you'all are getting all those darn points!! :lmao:

I did get up earlier today and got 6 miles done (((thank you Maria!)))). I did mix up a smoothie afterwards, and got a dairy and fruit in with that! ((and the exercise points!)))) I have to say that I got the exercise in this weekend ONLY because of the challenge....I think I would have skipped one of those days, just being lazy!

Hope all is well with the rest of you!

Beth

Good Afternoon, Leaners!

Well, I'm glad Beth got 6M in this morning, 'cause it didn't happen for me. I plan to run 4 when I get home from work. I'll also be adding my 20 situps, they're becoming a habit :goodvibes

Tandy -- What a great race! :yay: And I agree with Beth, I bet it was the Gatorade. I don't drink it normally, so I don't add it in on race days. I do use Clif Blocks, I tolerate those better than anything else. The GU does not sit well with me...I'd give it a try on a LR to see how it makes you feel before a race. Oh! And I don't run 6M every day! I run 6M most of the time when I run, Mon., Wed., Thur., and a LR on Sat. I just do yoga Tues., and I walk 6M on Sun. Friday is up for grabs, sometimes it's yoga, sometimes a short walk.

Jackie -- You are the woman! Eating foods you don't like for the fiber! I am totally impressed! :thumbsup2

Vicky -- Bread and soda are awesome food groups, but like you, I need to steer clear as much as possible. These are definitely foods that are best in moderation, at least for my figure :rotfl:

Beth - I love how the Challenge is bringing out your cooking creativity! It must be fun to be in your house when all these neat new recipes are being made! :cool1: We all have those mom days that just don't work out as intended. I think it's good for the little scrubbers to see we aren't perfect. We certainly don't expect them to be :sad2:

Debra -- Like you, I've got the mini-streak going. I seem to do well for a few weeks, so I'm trying to actually make it for a whole 30 days. Right now I'm up to day 8... :rolleyes1

Cindy -- I looked at my calendar and freaked, realizing you are running Boston in just one week! You must be so psyched! How are you feeling?! :cheer2:

Jeanne and Kim -- I know you're out there -- Hope your week is off to a great start! :dance3:

Ok, new week, new opportunity! Let's rack up those points and move down those scales!

Maria :upsidedow

Hi Lean Ladies! Just a quick drive by before I'm off to the gym... and a quick question for the bakers in the group. Does anyone know if I can substitute regular peanut butter for natural peanut butter in a recipe 1:1? I know natural PB tends to be more runny (I'm trying to make my own protein bars from a no bake recipe). Do I have to add in something to thicken the mix? I also posted this on my team thread so sorry for the double post

TIA :) Will catch up more later tonight!

Oooh - baking question! I believe you should be able to use both peanut butters interchangeably. I make a PB cake that my MIL always used regular peanut butter, but I always use natural and it turns out fabulously either way.

Vicky: I use Natural peanut butter for the granola bars I make. I actually added an extra egg white this last time, since the first batch fell apart pretty easily. So, 2 egg white, and I froze them after they cooled (mine were baked). They stayed together much better this time.

Beth

Good Morning Leanies.

Vicky: If your bars come out good, please post the recipe. I’m glad the walking is going well. Enjoy the change of pace. When is your next race planned? Do you expect that this injury will set you back?

Maria: Yes, just 6 more days. Good job on making the sit ups a habit. I usually forget until I’m already in bed, then have to decide if it’s worth the point to get up and do them. Great job on the mini-streak.

Beth: Sounds like you are back on track with eating. Good for you. You do seem to do well with a challenge. Your sausage sounds yummy. I’ve found some Morning Star Farms “sausage” patties that were very good and low in calories. I find with the higher mileage I do much better if I run loops. That way I only have to do 10 miles, then I stop at the end of the driveway, fill my water bottle reload on gels and pretzels, then I have only 6 more miles to go. It just doesn’t seem as far that way.

Tandy: Congrats on such a terrific race. You are super-speedy. You definitely need to race another half so you can apply all you’ve learned from this race. I always quit drinking water 1 to 1.5 hrs before the race starts so I don’t have to stop once the race starts. Hopefully you’ll get the fueling figured out so you won’t have stomach issues. I think you would be fine with either sports beans or Gatorade, but you don’t have to do both. Second in your age group is fabulous. Any special medals for that? I hope you do get to do Goofy 2013. (It’s also 20th anniv. for the marathon – so there should be an extra special medal). I did Goofy this year and it was such fun. I’d do it again in a minute.

Jackie: Great job on your PR. What a fantastic race. Congrats on signing up for MCM. There are so many WISHers doing it, it should be lots of fun. Since it falls on Halloween, I just didn’t think I could get approval from the family to go. Maybe another year. Too funny about eating the sweet potatoes even though you don’t like them. I also plan to get weekly massages when I win the lottery.

Debra: Yea for your mini work out streak. Hope it continues. Glad you have your taxes out of the way. My DH always waits until the last minute, even when we are getting money back. I was sort of annoyed this year after enduring months of his nagging about spending too much. If we had gotten our tax return back in Feb, we wouldn’t have had such a cash flow problem. Oh well.

Jeanne: I hope all the taxes are going well, in addition to all the wedding planning.

Just 6 more days until the Boston Marathon. I fluctuate back and forth between dreading it and being so excited about it. I’m worried that I haven’t been doing a very good job with the nutrition part, especially the last 2 weeks. I’m sure I’ve eaten about 10 lbs of Easter candy. I had a good eating day yesterday and I’m hopeful that I’ll stick with it for the next 6 days. I think part of my angst is that so many people know I am running this. If I have a bad race everyone will know. I guess I shouldn’t worry too much about what everyone else thinks, but somehow I still do.
The early forecast is for partly cloudy with a high of 56. That would be ideal for me. My DH is going to take Friday afternoon off and we are going to the Expo then out for dinner in Boston. I’m very excited for that other than the place we are going has killer margarita’s and I don’t plan on having one. I may have to revisit after the race.
I ran 12 miles yesterday and felt very good. I have a few aches and pains, but they were tolerable. I really needed a good run. It’s funny how I’m all set to run a marathon, but still feel like I’m in crappy shape. It’s strange how the taper affects your mind so much.

Have a great day everyone. I need to go fill my water bottle now.
Cindy
