working for WDW - what kind of benefit pkg do they have?

I believe they are either non-existent or minimal if you're working part-time. I believe once you reach full-time, they are a bit better. Pay still isn't that great for anyone...

Googled it and this is what I found:

WDW Jobline - 407 828 1000, rig for more information or to schedule an interview.

Full time Cast Members work 30-40 hrs per week.
Part time Cast Members work up to 24 hrs per week.
Seasonal Cast Members work during peak periods up to 40 hrs per week.

Cast Members earn $6.35 an hour, characters earn only 20c more.

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a Cast Member?
One of the first things you'll notice are all the excellent benefits offered. Whether you're part-time, full-time, or seasonal, Cast Members receive competitive pay and the opportunity to work for the world's leading entertainment and hospitality company. But that's just for starters.

All Cast Members at the Walt Disney World? Resort typically receive:

Free Park admission to four of the most famous theme parks in the world
Discounts on theme park tickets and merchandise
Access to a Cast Member-only lake and recreation area with tennis, volleyball, and an Olympic-size swimming pool
Ongoing career and technical training
Discounts with local merchants and attractions

Plus, if you are a full-time Cast Member, you may be eligible for:

Excellent medical benefits plans
Excellent dental and vision benefits plans
Retirement plan
Paid holidays, vacations, and sick days, and much more!

Tangible benefits like excellent medical, dental, and retirement plans aren't the only things you may be eligible for as a full-time Cast Member. The Disney family is always looking for ways to reach out to potential Cast Members who want to make friends, make magic, and make a difference. That's why thousands of people become a part of the Disney family each year.

The WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort is the largest single-site employer in the United States, which means lots of opportunities for you.

Over 3,000 different job classifications
Management opportunities
Because the WALT DISNEY WORLD? Resort is such a popular vacation destination, many of our Cast Members work 40 hours or more each week throughout the year.

When I auditioned (and this information is given to you), I was surprised at how low the pay was and poor the benefits were. I have a girlfriend working as several characters now and she's forced to hold a retail job and a waitressing job to make end's meet... that was the situation I thought I was going to be in, as well.

IHO, is that they use the psychological key words to reel you into thinking you're working for a fabulous company for fabulous pay and benefits. While I think the corporate is great, not so sure I agree on the other two points. DH and I have both said for retirement and not any sooner. He had tried to get into the company at salaried level when he was transitioning out of the military last year. We have a very close friend who knows Roy and Eisner well. He said that at that level, you're well taken care of and well provided for.

I actually interviewed with them for a management job not too long ago. For that level the benefits were average. They had several medical/dental plans to choose from. They also have both a pension and small 401K match.

Vacation was way under what I would have expected, but everything else was in line with other places I have worked. Medical, Dental and Retirement would not have been deal breakers.

My BF worked for Disney for several years so I can confirm the low pay scale, and also that once the pay was not "hourly" there were mega hours that were "expected". There were some benefits but not until you were up the ladder some.

And as for the fringe benefit of Free park admission... yes, but... it's for the employee only, not even their family until management level, and then immediate family only and the employee must be with them.

Most who work there do so either because they love Disney or because they believe in the idea... they don't do it for the great compensation.

So be kind to your local cast member!

this would be for one of those "corporate" jobs and who needs vacation days when you're where you'd be going on vacation to anyway! :cool1: :rotfl2:
