Is it wrong to buy a £5 gift voucher rather than a pressie??

I've voted that its not wrong- but then if your all sitting there while all the pressies are handed out it might be a different matter..

I dont think it is either right or wrong - no help am I ;)

I am not a great fan of SS (apart from DIS ones )- you can get a really nice pressie for £5 if a bit of thought goes into it but I personally hate all that furry handcuffs, blow up sheep and chocolate body parts ;)

If you were to get your SS some chocolates or something you knew they really liked that is different - they me be dissapointed with the voucher initially as they cant show off their gift in the office

I voted yes.
IMO a workplace SS is supposed to be fun and lighthearted, and you are supposed to find something within budget that is suitable for your recipient - that's the challenge of it!
The best workplace SS I have taken part in ended in a couple in the office who thought their affair was secret getting a pair of PJ's split between them from their givers.....:lmao: :lmao:
Priceless!

There's nothing wrong with giving a voucher, but there's not much effort been put into it. I know I would prefer a present than a voucher (so I voted yes ;) )

If you let us know if it's a man or woman you're buying for, then I'm sure we'll all be happy to give you some ideas :santa:

I voted 'No' because, from a personal point of view, I would much rather have a useful £5 gift voucher than something really useless/naff.

That said, as Mandy says if you let us know whether it's male or female and the sort of personality they are, we could make some suggestions :confused3

I've voted it is wrong. Half the fun of the Secret Santa is trying to get a pressie for someone, for the nominal amount and relating to their personality.

Definietely voted yes.

£5 is a fair amount and with some effort a nice gift can purchased.

I personally feel you only get a naff present if the person buying couldn't be bothered.

I did a secret Santa this year with a group of female friends - the budget £3 and there were so many amazing gifts we were all asking each other where we'd bought them from as we were going to buy some more!

Hope you get sorted!

I voted Yes. I'm not really a fan of Secret Santa to be honest, however, I still participate and always make a real effort to buy a present that I know the recipient will like.

Thanks for all the answers everyone :goodvibes

I decided against the gift voucher (mainly because I spotted something while queing)

I wouldn't have even considered it but I got a female from another department who I don't even know what she looks like, let alone what her personality is like.

Last year we did it within the departments which was really easy!

We are giving out our Secret Santa gifts tomorrow and I can't wait as there are always some great ones. It is much harder though if you don't know the person.
