I work in the Niagara Region doing data entry from home and I love it. My brother and his girlfriend recently moved to the Kitchener/Waterloo area and were hoping to find something similar in that area to supplement their income, but would allow them to be home with their animals after work.

Has anybody heard of any such opportunities? I have directed them to a mystery shopping company that I used to work for, but they are looking for something else as well.

TIA!

Beglluvr, please tell me about the mystery shopper job. I saw a company that "teaches and places you" advertised on Monster recently and was curious but thought it looked like a scam. Any info would be great.Have your relatives looked into medical transcription? It takes minimal training but seems to be an in demand do at home job.(check out www.canscribe.com)

Alohamom, do you know anyone who has done this course? I am currently working as a medical data entry clerk and have thought about taking a medical transcription course but our local college doesn't offer one.

I would love to hear from anyone out there who is a medical transcriptionist either from home or hospital. Thanks.

alohamom:

I worked doing mystery shopping for a company called Tenox Appraisal. They are totally legitimate, I did this for 2 years with absolutely no problems. The only reason I stopped doing it was because I was having trouble finding time to complete everything with the other job that I do from home. Their website is www.weshop4u.com and I believe they are Canada-wide.

It was alot of gas stations, but they also have clients like Staples, The Beer Store, Northern Reflections, Payless Shoes, Toys R Us, Sobey's and lots more. It's a pretty good deal because anything they require you to purchase, they reimburse you for and you get to keep it (except Payless and they allow you to keep the receipt and return it if you want).

If you would like any more information, I'll be glad to help!

beglluvr, I checked out the website of the mystery shopping company. It looks interesting. How do you get paid?Is it per "shopping" experience? Do you get paid mileage? What exactly does the job entail? How many hours a week were you getting?

I am so fed up with my job right now I really need a low(er) stress change. I am very interested in any information you can give me. Thanks.

Bea:

Working for Tenox Appriasals wouldn't generate enough income to replace another job. It's good as a bit of extra cash. They don't pay by the hour, they pay per job and each job has a different rate. It's flexible as in they give you a window of a week or two in which the jobs must be completed, but some will specify a certain time of day or days of the week.

They will ask on your application which areas you are willing to do without being paid for mileage and which areas you will go to if they do. Generally, they don't send too many jobs that are far enough away to require it.

Each shop is different, but in a nutshell, you go to the assigned location, make a purchase, ask a few questions and fill out a report to send in. It's pretty easy.

They pay their shoppers every 2 weeks by directly depositing your expenses into your account. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for the pays to be processed because expense sheets and receipts have to be sent in by snail mail.

Hope this info helps!

Thanks for the information. I am going to look into it. I work part time right now and really want to do something else for the next little while.

WOW-Thanks for the info, I am sorry Bea but I do not know anyone who has done that course. I think I will become a professional shopper!!!!Sounds like a great thing to do while my little ones are at school! Thanks so much for the web site...:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:
