Jo - We haven't lit our fireplace in 10 years or more; DH claims it sucks all the warm air out of the room. But we did make sure to keep some wood around for this recent snowstorm in case we lost power. I can't wait to move somewhere with a gas fireplace so I can have fires again!

You register one time, they think they are saving the environment, and for fires. What did they happened way before homes were really built? I think the world would have been on fire from people having wood fires in there home to cook and keep warm. Just another form of big brother. And if you burn on a non burn day and get caught you pay a fine. Just so stupid.

Sounds oppressive to me...another case of sticking a law on a problem rather than working on a solution.
