Word of caution, save your Dining Plan receipts

We recently returned from an 8 night stay with the Dining Plan. For some reason, even after all my research here on the boards, I only made reservations for 7 TS credits even though we had an 8 night stay. Once I realized I started working on one more TS and we decided on Coral Reef for lunch. It was by far our most fantastic meal of our vacation but that is not my point. I had a room with my two children and my friend and her mom had an adjoining room. We did all of our meal together and I made all the reservations. I did not save my receipts or anything but my friend's did and thank goodness. After our meal our server brought back my card and said I was all set but gave my friend's their card and said they had no credits. Their bill came to $95 and they were panicked that they had to pay but there was no way because I knew there was a problem. I told our waiter and he made a call then came back to the table to tell them that they had eaten at CRT and that was 2 credits. I told him that we knew that and we had eaten there too and had credits. I am not a complainer or problem consumer but I knew I was right and I was not going to let it go. I asked him if there was someone else we could speak to because I knew they had the credits. My friend said something to her mom about paying and the waiter said he would cover it. I asked him who we could talk to because he shouldn't have to do that, they had the credits. Anyway, while we waited for the manager my friend found her receipt from the day before that said they had 2 TS meals left and the receipts for all the meals after that that they used CS. The manager came, took the receipts and made a call right from our table. She got to the bottom of it, Norway had charged them two days in a row for eating there when we only ate their once. Within two minutes the credits were back on the card and we were good to go. The manager thanked us for having the receipts and said it really did help to prove we were right. She was wonderful, I know she probably has people all the time that think they have credits when they don't but I knew I was right, there was no way I had credits and they didn't.

As soon as I saw the receipts we keep had all 0's on them I tossed them nightly. Please do not be like me, save your receipts and always bring your most recent snack/CS/TS receipt with you to the next one in case there are any issues.

Thanks for the tip. We will be using the DDP for the first time on our trip next week. :thumbsup2

That's good advice. Glad it worked out ok. I saved all of ours in my trusty Passporter!

I thought it would be fun too but then when I saw all they had on them were 0's and no dollar amounts I started pitching them.

Definitely save those receipts. Our first day on the plan, we got two beverages at Sleepy Hollow as snack credits. Thank goodness there wasn't a trash can nearby or I'd have tossed the receipt. After checking the receipt later that day, I saw that Sleepy Hollow had charged us 22 credits instead of 2! Our resort took care of it, and said if we hadn't had our receipt as proof there would have been nothing they could do.

I learned last year to save our receipts after NORWAY charged my TWO year old a TS credit. I had a heck of a time getting it back because the Front Desk people at POR had no clue what was going on and said that Norway SHOULD have charged us that credit. HUH? My DD was two at the time! She eats free! Oh well. We've paid for the dining plan this time and since she's three we don't have to worry about that, but even so I'll be sure to check my receipts after every meal.

What I do is write the total on the "0" receipt to keep try of the value of the plan.

If you ordered her a meal and she didn't just eat off everyone else's plate, then you have to pay for it. Kids under 3 only eat "free" at buffets, family style, or sharing the adult's meals.

We had LeCellier charge us one extra credit in 2005 when our DD was only 2, and she was sharing meals with us. Conceirge at our resort cleared it up quickly and easily with our receipt as proof and looking up our reservations with the children's ages listed.

We ate at Mama Melrose's and our server didn't charge our meal to the plan. We didn't know it until we got our final bill from the hotel (the meal was charged to our room instead). I had the receipt and it was quickly taken care of.

On our trip the last week of September, we were charged credits TWICE for our 2 year old - both at family style restaurants where she eats free (Norway breakfast and OHana dinner). Both receipts even stated "under 3 meal". At Norway, they had to get a manager to fix it (it took about 15 minutes). At 'OHana, the waitress was very unhelpful about it and told me I had to go to the front desk at the Polynesian to get it fixed! We were on our way to MNSSHP, so I just waited until the next day and got it fixed at our hotel's concierge with no problem. I did have the receipt and I mentioned that I really kept track of my credits and I felt sorry for those that didn't as they were being cheated out of their credits!

We had a problem during our September trip at Pizza Planet. The cashier must have been fairly new because I ordered 2 pizza meals and she charged me for 22. I noticed it when I was waiting for the food to come out and glanced down at the receipt. Luckily, one of the managers came out to fix it right there, but the first person I alerted tried to tell me I had to go to guest services. I was not leaving that place w/o my credits, since basically we had no more CS credits and needed to get more food that day.

Other than that, no problems in all the times we've used the plan. And I keep all the receipts also; had them from 2005 and just got rid of them recently. I like to add all the amounts and see what we're saving when we use the plan.

I agree - keep receipts otherwise how is the CM supposed to help...

We got charged an extra CS meal at Blizzard Beach. With the receipts they fixed us up at the Old Key West Concierge desk.

I have used the DDP 3 times and I don't think I have ever had a problem but I will certainly keep my eyes open. It sounds like Norway makes a lot of mistakes. I have had the cart service make mistakes on my Disney rewards card. I will not use that again except on the final bill at the front desk.

The CM at our resort CS accidentally only charged us ONE CS credit for one meal instead of the TWO it should have been. I brought it to her attention and she said she must have hit the wrong button and told me to enjoy. We gave it to a grandma who had her grandson with her. He had Celiac Disease (our son does also) and peanut allergy.
