Wooo Hooo!!! I'm gonna be a chef!!!

Baking & Pastry Chef that is! This is a lifelong dream of mine that I am finally going to see in reality! Now that the last kid is off on her own it's my turn! I'm going back to college! I've been accepted to the Western Culinary Institute in Portland Oregon! I start next June & will graduate the following March! I'm sooooo excited!!!!! While we are at WDW I will see if the Grand Floridian is on the list for the externship I will need to complete in my last 6 weeks of training! I hope to open my own bakery & wedding catering service here in Montana. This is just sooo cool!
Anyone in Portland that can help with locating an RV park close to the Institute? I plan to live in my camper for 9 months!

Where are you in Montana? I grew up near Glasgow, my parents are still there. We visit in the summers near Yellowstone, one of these days my girls and I are going to visit the rest of Montana.

I love to visit but don't think I could go back to live. I'd love to be able to spend the entire summer though.

Well waddya know? I'm right down the road from Glasgow (by Montana standards anyway) just south of Malta near Landusky & Zortman. About an hour & 45 minutes away I guess. I do the craft show in the fall usually in Glasgow but not this year since we will be in WDW camping!!! I couldn't live anywhere else! I love it here!

Wow thanks so much AJA55! I'm hoping I won't have to bring a 2nd vehicle to go back & forth. Also the classes begin at 7AM so the buses would have to start rather early for that. Just some info... I need a RV space hopefully in a secure park that has propane & laundry on site. I made the mistake of reserving a spot once in a park I had never been to, & when I got there it was more like a hippy commune LOL. People that partied all night with loud music & drinking parties. These people lived there! Needless to say I moved out the next morning & never went back! So that part I am a little nervous about since I won't have DH with me for the duration...only visits when he can break away from the ranch. I'm such a light sleeper I need quiet nights. I sure do appreciate any help you, or anyone else out there, can offer. Thank you so much again!!!! DIS peeps are the bestest!!!

You are practically neighbors We lived close to Fort Peck, dad worked for the corp at the dam. Really a great place to grow up. They moved into Glasgow after Dad retired.

I tried to explain the distance thing to someone I talked to recently that is moving to Billings. Most people don't understand a place where driving 250 miles to go shopping isn't a big deal.

Thank you all so much! I still can't believe this is happening! I went & got all my notebooks & things I will need for the classroom classes since it is all on sale now. Better off doing that than paying full price in June!

I'm so nervous about this whole thing. Especially the part about being separated from DH for that long. We will get a few vacations to spend with each other but even with those... well 9 months is a long separation. I'm sure it will be just fine but I just gotta worry a little you know? I'm so glad we have our WDW vacation coming up soon so we will have an extended length of time to be with just each other...no work or ranch to interfere with our time together there for a solid month!!!!

My final interview with the financial aid folks is tomorrow! We will get all that finished up & I'll be good to go!

Congrat to you!! You live in a beautiful area, if we ever have to move again I want it to be to Montana or Wyoming. You are a strong person. People can't believe that I will go to the movies or out to dinner without my DH and you are going on such a journey, fulfilling your dream. And the best thing is you have a DH that stands with you, how proud you must be of him. It will be a long 9 months but by the sounds of it, the two of you will do just fine.

Congratulations!!! That's something that I'd like to do too. I've done cake decorating for years and have done some dessert catering as well, but I've never gone to school for it. Good luck with everything, and have a great time Camping with the mouse!!
