We had some terrible storms hit Ohio this week. On Monday night/Tuesday morning we had one heck of a storm hit us. It caused us some minor roof damage, and most importantly, we lost power. For three VERY long days we were without. I can't tell you how thrilled (even at this hour of the night/morning) that I am to say I have power!!!!!!!!

Somewhere around 9 PM last night one nice guy finally came to our neighborhood. When a transformer blew for the 2nd time in 3 days, apparently he called in the back up. Within minutes there were three new trucks (all with out of state plates... as far as Texas) there to assist. They worked non-stop from 9:30 PM until just after 2 AM. If I hadn't been in bed and in my PJs I would have rushed out and hugged these guys. I know they were doing their job, but they sure worked at it and worked hard to get us going.

So there is my early morning ramble. Hopefully I can fall asleep soon too. For all weathering the storms, good luck to you. For any without power, I hope you see it soon. And to all who are out there working hard for us, thank you

Someone on the news this morning said when her power came back on yesterday, she felt like she reintroduced to the 21st century... Luis and I laughed because we agreed. Our saving factor was we did have hot water though

I can feel your pain...we have had the same storms and we were lucky in that our power was off and on during that period. There is nothing worse than a hot midwestern summer and no power. I am glad that got you working again!

I used to complain about ComEd when I lived in IL - too expensive! Now that I live in FL and there are a million power companies, power is cheaper. But every time it thunderstorms (everyday) the power goes off for a minute, at least once. Of course, that means resetting clocks, turning the computer of then on, etc. What a pain!
But I agree: to the guys and gals who work out there to keep things running - THANK YOU!

We went four days without power one summer after a bad storm. At the time I worked at the one and only little party store in our town and when the Consumer trucks started to come into town, they stopped at our store. I bought them their lunch and sweetly asked if they would start at our "end" of town.......they did!!!

We also had a roofer come today and we should have a new part on our roof in a week or so. Now as soon as I can go home and get more than 2.5 hours of sleep in my A/C I will be happy... I never knew how much I missed that or how much it helped me breathe at night w/o trouble (allergies). I'm sure not taking A/C and electricity for granted again!

Oh and I had to thank all you who got me into Yankee Candles... if it weren't for you all, I wouldn't have had such a well lit house after dark
