I bought my wedding dress! I can't believe it!

OK, it's a year ahead of schedule, but, when I saw it, it was the closest thing I have seen to what was in my head - it's a kind of chocolate and moss colours, with gold bead work - it's kind of "forest ish"

My hair is kind of chestnut with natural red highlights, and I am planning on having it curly and with small floral hairpins - I think it will all go together in a kind of wandering through a forest grove type way :rotfl2:

Plus it was a total bargain, for a proper, formal, full length dress, so it seemed pointless to wait!

Just have to work out how to gwt it all those thousands of miles - but maybe if I put on my best pleading the flight crew will stow it on the plane, and not in the hold, for me?

Congratulations on getting your dress - it sounds wonderful !!!
I am in the same predicament as you being all the way over here in north london. I ordered my dress on saturday but they have promised me in the shop that if I take in a trolley suitcase small enough to go in the overhead locker they will 1. fit it in neatly and 2. it will be under the weight limit for carry on luggage as I do not want to put my dress in the hold either.

Congrats!! It sounds perfect - I'd love to see pictures!!

Also for travelling you might want to check out www.theemptyboxcompany.co.uk - they do dress boxes that are within the size limit for on-board luggage. I'm considering getting on for my dress as I'm in the 'no hold' club too!

another fellow UK diser!

Yay for the dress- have you got photos!!??

I am taking mine either on the hanger in a bag and will play ignorant about not knowing how to take it on, or i will get the dress shop to pack it in a soft carry on holdal and it is sitting on my lap the whole way there! it isnt leaving my side!

It sounds really pretty....post pictures...congratulations on finding your dream dress:goodvibes

how's that?

Wow! That is a beautiful dress! So unique!

And I just wanted to mention that you can bring your dress (in your own garment bag or the one that the bridal store gives you it in) on the hanger as your carry-on. Once you get to your gate at the airport, go to the counter and tell the person there that you are carrying on your wedding dress and would be ever so happy if they would hang it up for you in the cabin. Most planes have a "closet" for the flight crew's bags and coats, and they will normally hang it up there for you with no trouble at all. I've seen it done on several flights I've been on, and was planning on doing it myself (until we decided to drive instead).
