I just came back from checking one of the nicer consignment shops in Baltimore for school clothes with some unexpected American Girl goodies. It was actually a challenge to decide who needed clothes more - DD8 or her dolls. Of course, I bought DD8 some things but, predictably, the dolls made out better - after all, they do outnumber her...
So... my haul included kit's rolltop desk, chair, sam's pencil box, pencil & assorted school books for several dolls for $28, the school backpack & computer set with more school books for $15, and three outfits complete with extra accessories for between $12-$15 each. It wasn't super cheap, and higher than I'd spend at a yardsale, but it's nearly impossible to find complete retired outfits w/access that look unplayed with around here. As I carried a huge box out to my car with DD8 skipping excitedly alongside, I was smiling from ear to ear thanking my lucky stars that this was the day I chose to go for a drive.
More importantly though, is the considerable haul I left behind... there's a Lindsey scooter set for $15; lots of outfits with access for $15 each; Kailey's bikini & access for 9.99; the purple tankini with beach towel, sunscreen, tote bag, kailey's wetsuit and a few more goodies for $15; the flower bedrest, rug and dream jouranl which hadn't been priced yet and assorted other goodies waiting for pricing too. I'd post the store name but don't know if it's allowed so if you live within driving distance of Baltimore and want to check it out for yourself pm me. I spent the $$ in my recreation/impulse envelope for this month already so I know we won't be going anywhere near there again until after labor day at least...
