What is the difference between a standard room and a woods view room at the Wilderness Lodge.

actually, not that much. the woods view gives you an obvious view of trees and some small wetlands. You will see an occasional crane or furry animal and rumored gators. The std room will look over the parking lot or roof area. I have stayed in both and don't mind the std. we will be in a std. this august and whether its a woods or a std, it doesn't matter anyway as long as we are in wl!

Some of the standard view rooms are down low behind the roof of the adjacent building so if you open your curtains and / or go out on your balcony you will have a view of a green metal roof about 6-10 feet away. Other standard rooms look of into the woods but right below ( if you look down) is where the trucks load and unload food and wares as well as garbage and recycling pick up. I would personally pay the extra to make sure I didn't get any of those views.

If you get a Woods view room on the non-smoking wing (facing MK) and get a higher floor (5th or 6th I think) you can actually get a partial view of the MK from your balcony. I we had this a long time ago. I wish I could remember the room number ...

When I made the ressie I requested non smoking and a woods view hoping that we might get a view of the MK, by the sounds of everyone's suggestions hopefully it might work out. does anyone know if you can request a specific floor??

Yes you can request a specific floor and view. Remember to list the requests in order of importance as they may not be able to grant all of them. We put "upper floor, open balcony" for our woodsview room and got the 4th floor. Bunk beds were important to us as was non-smoking. :)
