We decided instead of POFQ we would stay at WL. Through this board I've heard many awesome things about this resort!! :cheer2: I booked a standard room but now I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a woods view. I don't want to spend the extra $$ if it truly isn't worth it. Any suggestions? TIA!!

Sarah.....SAHM to three fantastic pirate:

May 1999 Coranado :bounce:
May 2001 AKL (Savannah) sooo awesome!!

May 2005 WL and soooo excited!! :earboy2:

Stick with a standard view and ask at check-in about possible upgrades. Usually people that book standard rooms end up with a woods view/courtyard view without even asking.

No not at all if you ask me I wasnt happy looking at trees and leaves 20 feet from the window, not much of a view at all except the otter pond which well no otters to be seen.

I did go down and asked about an upgrade to pook view and they gave it cause they had availability, I would have paid anyways cause I was very unhappy with the woods.

I would stick with standard too. You have a very good chance of getting an upgrade. Last year we were upgraded to a water view room and had a lovely view of the water falls and pool. No extra charge!

If you can get a room in the North Wing, woods view, 5th or 6th floor, you should be able to see Wishes from your balcony.

I have a question also. When you are checking in, do you just ask for a complimentary upgrade? I mean is it that simple? :confused3

We didn't ask --we just got it! But I am sure if you ask in a nice way they wouldn't mind. My DH and I just got back from Vegas and stayed at the Flamingo. We booked a standard room. At check-in I asked for a newly renovated room--we got that and a strip view at no extra cost. I do think that if you arrive early in the day and mid week you have better chance of an upgrade.

Sarah, I'm sorry to impose on your thread. Please forgive me. Okay when my travel agent booked us she requested a bunk bed room. I've learned on this board that there are no bunk bed standard rooms, so do you think there's a good chance we could get that sort of an upgrade?

I know that from certain wood view rooms you can see the castle, which would be totally worth it in my opinion! We are staying at a woodsview for our honeymoon, just because I had my heart set on it and I didn't want to chance not getting one.

It is very simple to ask, you don't always get one though. Just make sure you state complimentary.

Yah I have never asked, I have been upgraded twice, once at AKL and once at WL. WL I wanted to pay to be moved :) AKL the girl was just gave us the upgrade.

I wouldnt plan your stay if you are counting on an upgrade. If you really want a pool view then book it, if you dont care then an upgrade is a nice bonus if you get one, but shouldnt be expected.

We had a great main courtyard view when we stayed at WL 9nights Oct 01. That visit was what convinced us to become DVC members.

This Aug I have DS & myself booked in a standard for 3nights. I figure since its the short part of our vacation that if we end up facing a roof I'll keep the drapes closed and not use the balcony
