Our TA just called and has our docs for the 9/25 cruise, but she got a call from DCL and we have been upgraded from a Cat 4 to a Cat 3!!!!!!!!!!!:thewave:

The screaming from our house must have been heard all the way to Florida!!

Now we have some questions. What are the additional perks that come with the suite, like conceirge (sp) service, priority boarding etc. For those who have experienced this luxury before, please give us the benefits of your wisdom. I am a retentive planner and know most of the ins and outs, but my knowledge stopped where my pocket book did!

Also a quick note, we received an an e-mail from DCL today in response to one I sent. The following is an encouraging statement....

"Currently, the Disney Magic sailing for September 25, 2004 will sail on the scheduled itinerary."

So it sounds like, barring swings from Ivan, that CC may be back on for us after all.

Oh my goodness, but the pixie dust is flying tonight. Now if Florida can be spared another storm and no more show up before we sail, life will be sweet!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

1. You get to be one of the first ones on board.
2. You go to the concierge meet - and make all of your reservations. Palo, spa, kids club, etc... They have reserved slots.
3. Nice reception with food one night.
4. Daily treats - cookies, etc....
5. Of course - MORE SPACE!!!
6. and usually - a departure gift. We got one signed picture of the Wonder and a framed litho.
7. You can order room service on the day of disembarkation.

The only downside - is you'll LOVE it!! (It spoiled us!!)

Any idea what room?

Congratulations!
You will get priority boarding, your key to the world is gold, the concierge will make reservations for you if you need them, they will leave gifts(food) every evening in your room, free soda (cans). But the best is the size of the room, there is a huge difference between a Cat 4 and a Cat 3. We had a Cat 3 on the Wonder in 2003 and all the suites were sold out when we decided to take the Magic in 2004, so we got a Cat4, and you cant compare them.
Virgil is right, you are going to love it so much that you will miss it next time. But enjoy, you are really lucky
Congratulations again
Lydia

Virgil and Lydia,

Wow that was fast! Now we're even more excited, if that's possible!!!! I am afraid that this will spoil us terribly. On our past cruises we've been in a Cat 4, and have loved it. So much so that when we booked this cruise we tried to go a little less expensive and maybe get two staterooms in lower categories, but we couldn't bear to part with the veranda. Plus I really wouldn't want to have my two oldest (teen agers) loose in their own room. But now, I hope we'll be able to go back to that category after being pampered in a suite. Oh well, we'll just have to suffer through the adjustments.

Thanks for the insights, we are so stoked and this two weeks can not possibly go fast enough!

PS, Virgil, we're in 8080

Another perk, not only space but a huge verandah, 2 bathrooms, and a round dining room table for 4. It will spoil you. Enjoy! Kathy

That is really GREAT!!

What is the 'rule' for the concierge - tip or not? Just curious and hoping that some of that extra pixie dust floating around might land our way!

No need to wait for the concierge meet and greet on departure day. Someone here will post the number to Debbie and you can go ahead and book Palo if you desire. You can use the meet and greet for the spa and flounders.

Congrats!!
Take good care of that room! We are in 8080 for the 10 day Christmas cruise.

I can't wait for it.
Please let me know how you like the room.

How on earth did they get the big ol' ship to sign that little bitty picture? That one I'd like to see...
:D

Thanks to you all for the great information and kind words.

Also curious about tipping the concierge. Anyone?

tinkfan, I promise we'll take good care of the room. Maybe we'll even figure out a way to stash something for you.

Someone else told me about Debbie, I think I'll be calling tomorrow.

The concierge team will not take tips (we tried on our 8/28 cruise and they refused to take anything).

Additional perks....
1. Room has a VCR and CD player. Concierge has a list of VHS tapes and CDs you can borrow for free.

2. Concierge has board games you can borrow.

3. You can order full service (hot) breakfast every morning (except the last morning when you can get a contential breakfast).

4. You can order room service for lunch or dinner from any dinning room (except Palo).

5. You can eat at Palo more than once.

6. Concierge will get you tickets to the galley tour, wine tasting, bridge tour, and any other tours/activities you want.

Our concierge team was Monica, Maria and Thierry - they were wonderful and very helpful.

Have a great trip!!

PM me if you want the phone number to contact Debbie and she can setup Palo reservations, confirm your dinning rotation, and confirm a table size if you like.

Hey allears! Congrats on the upgrade!!! Be sure to email John about it, I'm sure he'll be thrilled for you too!! Enjoy...

Mary Rose,

That's a great idea, I'm doing it right now!

Congratulations! We were in 8080 a few weeks ago and it's great. We were worried about being right by the elevators, but it wasn't a problem at all. It was very convenient! It's also great because you just have to go up one flight of stairs and you are right there for Topsiders and the Mickey pool. One flight down and across the hall and you are very close to the washers and dryers on 7. We did hear a little noise over the bed in the bedroom -- like they were dragging trolleys or something, but it was only occasionally. We did give our concierge team thank you cards, with a small Wal-Mart gift card tucked inside it. Our first cruise we didn't use the concierge staff much, because I didn't want to "bother" them. On this last cruise, I asked for more help with different things/problems and was glad I did -- they made everything so much easier!

Never even thought an upgrade like that was possible! Congrats :) Hopefully you got a good location on the ship :)
Have fun!

Couldn't happen to a nicer family. ;)

Have a fabulous time, say hi to J.C. for us, and ENJOY YOUR SUITE!

Heather and Gavin from T.O. :wave2:

Heather and Gavin,

How fun to see you on here and thanks! Adam has said all night he wants to e-mail your folks.

I don't think we've been this excited in some time. And we're looking forward to seeing J. C.. We got an e-mail from him yesterday and he will be on the ship for the 9/25 sailing.

We must say though, we are going to miss our favorite table mates from up north. We all said that and hope to get together one of these days and of course cruise together again.

Thanks and we'll make sure to say hi to John for you.

The Becks

WOW!! Congratulations!

Another perk that I hear you can get---a massage on your balcony instead of in the spa:earseek: :earseek:
