I'm so happy and so proud!!!! Today my Mom weighed in 10 pounds lighter than she was 39 days ago. WOO-HOO!!!

She's been doing "unofficial" Weight Watchers (I help her figure out her meal plans and points) and she's been EXERCISING, a word that was very unfamiliar to her before! Before starting WW she didn't eat most of the day, then had a hefty slice of cake in the afternoon, then had dinner and then at night she'd eat regular ice cream and lots of chocolate! She also smokes quite a bit. This was her eating routine for at least the last 15-20 years!

What's amazing is that she just turned 61 and she's probably in the best shape she's been in for about 25 years! (Maybe 30 years...)

I've got before pictures of her from day 1, then a 4 week update, and in about 2 weeks it will be time for her 8 week progress photos to be taken. I will be really excited about posting a link to the pictures at the 8 week point, hopefully there will be a really big difference in her body shape.

My father has lost 6 pounds during this time. My mother just feeds him larger portions of what she is eating. He is very happy with his weight loss (had a bit of a belly, but he's got toothpick legs and arms...)

After she worked out with weights for a week, he decided to join us! Now he's got really great looking shoulders and biceps, and his chest is filling out nicely too! ;)

Thanks for letting me brag! I have a great time working out with my parents and I am so proud of them for sticking with their workout routine and healthy eating habits. They started walking recently and can walk about a mile at a time now. For years my mother has been unable to walk from one end of the mall to the other because one of her legs would get very tired. Now she can walk an entire mile at a small clip and she feels GREAT! Her leg is getting stronger and she has lots more energy and just feels super about herself. Her posture has improved, her skin looks better, her thighs don't jiggle as much as they used to, her bum is shrinking, and she just has a really young attitude.

Good gosh, she just walked into the room wearing my old Eddie Bauer size 10 jeans and she looks smashing! (I'm posting from their house!) She started off just barely squeezing into size 12 pants! I can't wait for the 8 week point so I can show you guys how much progress she's made. She's looking pretty buff!

If she can do it, ANYONE can do it!

Karen,
Thanks for sharing more of your inspiring stories. Just like here on WISH, your success is infectious! Congratulations to your entire family on deciding to be healthy. Make sure you keep us posted on their success. It must be true that the apple doesn't fall far form the tree! (UGH! In my case, that is not so comforting! )

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

Your mom's eating habits sound like my mom's! it seems like she never eats! But then at night she eats dinner and many snacks. She joined WW with my sister & I in May, but she was done by June. She didn't really change her habits. She wouldn't eat all day and think she was doing great because she had so many points to eat at night.

So I can really understand how proud you must be. If my mom had made those healthy changes I would be beaming!

Way to go for being her inspiration!

It's so great that you are helping and encouraging your parents in a new and healthier lifestyle!! It sounds like they are both making great progress and I'm looking forward to pictures and to more stories of their success!

Congratulations to your Mom!! That is great news!! :)

How cool is THAT??? Congrats to your mom!!:jumping1:

Congrats to your Mom. You should be very proud of her.

Wow, Karen, that is awesome!! I know you have been guiding your mom along, you must be such an inspiration to her. Congratulations, Mom for your hard work and success! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: ONWARD and DOWNWARD! Can't wait to see those progress pictures.

That is so great!!! I know you are proud of her for getting into the healthy lifestyle plus the benefits are flowing to your dad. You are such a great daughter to be taking the time to help her. I am sure she is feeling so much better. Tell her to keep up the hard work and everyone is so proud of her.:D

That's great. Sounds like your parents are having fun getting healthier. How great that you can work out with them and share some quality time, too.

I'm looking forward to seeing the photographs :)
