I'm so happy and so proud!!!! Today my Mom weighed in 10 pounds lighter than she was 39 days ago. WOO-HOO!!!
She's been doing "unofficial" Weight Watchers (I help her figure out her meal plans and points) and she's been EXERCISING, a word that was very unfamiliar to her before! Before starting WW she didn't eat most of the day, then had a hefty slice of cake in the afternoon, then had dinner and then at night she'd eat regular ice cream and lots of chocolate! She also smokes quite a bit. This was her eating routine for at least the last 15-20 years!
What's amazing is that she just turned 61 and she's probably in the best shape she's been in for about 25 years! (Maybe 30 years...)
I've got before pictures of her from day 1, then a 4 week update, and in about 2 weeks it will be time for her 8 week progress photos to be taken. I will be really excited about posting a link to the pictures at the 8 week point, hopefully there will be a really big difference in her body shape.
My father has lost 6 pounds during this time. My mother just feeds him larger portions of what she is eating. He is very happy with his weight loss (had a bit of a belly, but he's got toothpick legs and arms...)
After she worked out with weights for a week, he decided to join us! Now he's got really great looking shoulders and biceps, and his chest is filling out nicely too!
Thanks for letting me brag! I have a great time working out with my parents and I am so proud of them for sticking with their workout routine and healthy eating habits. They started walking recently and can walk about a mile at a time now. For years my mother has been unable to walk from one end of the mall to the other because one of her legs would get very tired. Now she can walk an entire mile at a small clip and she feels GREAT! Her leg is getting stronger and she has lots more energy and just feels super about herself. Her posture has improved, her skin looks better, her thighs don't jiggle as much as they used to, her bum is shrinking, and she just has a really young attitude.
Good gosh, she just walked into the room wearing my old Eddie Bauer size 10 jeans and she looks smashing! (I'm posting from their house!) She started off just barely squeezing into size 12 pants! I can't wait for the 8 week point so I can show you guys how much progress she's made. She's looking pretty buff!
If she can do it, ANYONE can do it!
