I finally did it, made reservations for our May 2004 trip at the Poly (got the AAA rate). When I went to WDW as a kid with my parents I always wanted to stay at the Poly, but we never did. I just got a promotion at work, so I thought we'd splurge. DW thinks we're staying at HIFS, I'm just not sure I can keep my secret!

Can you tell me what rate you got for the Poly using AAA discount...also, did you book it through CRO or AAA? Thanks!

Congrats! I will be there from April 28-May 10 too. I love the Poly! I booked without my AAA discount as I'm waiting for an AP rate. I might change it to a AAA rate though. What kind of rate did you get with the AAA? I usually don't find it worth it to do it. Also can you still cancel within 5 days of arriving using a AAA discount? Thanks!

I booked through CRO instead of AAA.

Yes, you can cancel up until 5 days before your arrival date with the AAA rate.

I'll have to check the rate I got when I get back to the office in morning, I don't have the info here at home.

I'm not sure what the rate is for may with AAA, but when pricing our trip for July, I was quoted $283.33 a night with AAA. The quote was for Value Season, which starts 7/5/04. HTH

Thanks for the info! I planned on doing it through CRO but didn't know the terms exactly. Being able to cancel within 5 days of arrival is good to know though I hope I never have to do that! I will be calling tomorrow and at least applying my AAA to get some kind of discount. Thanks again!

Thanks John! I am paying $383 a night right now for a garden view in regular season. I imagine I might get 20% off of that. Hopefully! LOL!

I actually just found a note in my wallet with my deposit information. We have a Concierge Lagoon View reserved at $396 per night (10% discount off of the rack rate of $440 - Regular Season rates).

Concierge Lagoon was basically $100 more per night than Regular Lagoon view. I'm still trying to decide if that $100 per night is worth it.

How many people are in your family? That will be the deciding factor if the extra $100 per night will be worth it. Also, if you think you'll be around a lot for evening snacks/dessert and wine.

FWIW, I think you'll keep the secret until the holidays .

There are 4 of us the family, 2 adults and 2 boys (5 & 2) at the time of our trip. I figured we'd be around in the evening quite a bit since historically the parks close fairly early during May (MK @ 7, AK @ 5), EPCOT has been open later (9:00?) I guess.

I think you're right about keeping the secret until the holidays Robin! I'm terrible at keeping secrets!

Congrats on your recent booking. You are going to love the Poly.

We took 2 of our Grandchildren there last February for 7 nights, got a great AP rate ($199 taxes included) a night. They both said it was their favorite resort. Hope they are not too disappointed this year I've booked WL. LOL DH doesn't understand why we just can't stay at the same resort each year.

There something special about being on the monorail line and having a view of the MK day and especially at night.

Whenever you feel the urge to tell your secret, come here we are always willing to listen to an excited future Poly resort guest.

Well I called to switch my current reservation over to a AAA rate and they didn't have any GV left. I could have switched it a lagoon view but that would have been almost $1000 more then I am already paying! And I also wouldn't get my favorite building, Rarotonga, as that is only a GV building. So I guess I will stick to what I got and maybe get an AP rate later on. Thanks!

gw_lit - I feel your pain on keeping your surprise. I am taking my DH for the Poly in January for his 30th birthday and he has no clue we are even going to WDW. He only knows I am saving for a trip that may be sometime in January. I have been actively planning it for nearly 4 months and it has taken most of my will power to not tell him. Thankfully my mom and her husband are going with us and I can talk about the trip to them.

I am so looking forward to the Poly Lagoon View Concierge. As far as a way to surprise her if you cannot wait until you arrive maybe get a lei from you local flower shop and give that to her with a note attached that mentions the Poly stay!! Or get the little umbrellas that come in tropical drinks and start putting those in all of her drinks (even in her waterglass) and then finally tell her you are getting her ready for a stay at the Poly.
