Our guide just called -- we'd only been on the wait list for a month or so, and we were just able to pick up 80 OKW points!! I am SO EXCITED!!! This is 7 nights in a studio each year or in a 1-bdrm every couple of years, alternating with our VWL points. They offered us 190, but we only wanted a small add-on, so the 80 was perfect!!

Just had to share my happiness with people who would understand!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I also own at OKW. I thought they sold out a couple years ago. The points you bought must be ones Disney decided to pick up using thier right to repurchase on an older contract that was being sold??? Do you know if that is the case? Just curious. Welcome to OKW!!

DiznEeyore,

Just wondering what use yr you have for OKW?

Great news for your "add-on!!!!!:bounce:

When we were talking with the guide at the BCV models, she told us that Disney does sell the points that it has bought back with first right of refusal. She said they choose their right of first refusal option depending both point price and the number of people on their waiting list with a use year.ending that is the same as the points that they are buying back. If a lot of people are waiting for a certain use year month, they will buy back points that are being sold for that month and sell them to the people on their waiting list.

Thanks for the welcomes!! :)

Bob: I'm sure the points are from DVC exercising their right of first refusal on a resale.

And our use year is August, same as our VWL use year. :)

DiznEeyore,
Thanks for the quick reply on your use yr. We have been on the waiting list since Jan for OKW (Sept use yr=3rd on list back then)
So we are still waiting for a small add on or re-sale at OKW ;)

Nick & Cindy:

I hope you get yours soon!! :D

Congratulations! We are on the wait list for the June use year.

Wow lucky you, only on waiting list about a month. We waited more than a year for our recent add-on - April user year. There were 230 available. We bought 60 and should be closing either 7/24 or 7/31 - this Wed. we are closing on our BCV add. I must say DVC works pretty fast. Congratulations!

Congratulations! We added on 70 at BCV in May since it seemed like the wait list for April was so long.
Good luck Doctor P and Nick & Cindy with your OKW add ons.:D

Just wondering....

If Disney is selling contracts that it buys via right of first refusal, and people are buying fewer points than what Disney is offering, does that mean Disney is subdividing the contracts that it buys back????

My dh was the one who spoke with our guide and I just had him explain to me what he was told. They'd bought back 2 contracts, one for 60 one for 190.

Initially, we were going to do the 60, because I thought we had to choose between the two options. Then, after further discussion w/dh and looking at the points charts, dh explained that we could choose whatever amount we wanted, up to the 250. So we went with the 80, leaving 170 for the next folks on the list. :)

Hi. We just recently purchased DVC at BCV. All this talk about buying points at another villa, use year and add on points. I don't quite understand all of this. I understand when your use year starts you get a new set of points to use. Ours is Feburary is that bad? Thanks for the help. We are very excited about becoming members. We never thought we could do it. :)

I would assume that the points could be available from first right of refusal, but could they also be avaible because a member stopped paying on a contract? I know that it seems silly that a person would do that instead of sell the points and make some of their money back. But our next door neighbor was just foreclosed on after being in the house nearly 10 years and she didn't try to selll the house first. Now the bank owns it and she is out everything. Do you think that some of these available points could be from foreclosures?

February is not a bad use year at all. That's our use year too! I don't think there is a bad use year. A lot of it depends on when you like to vacation. We go a lot in May so Feb is just fine. One year we went over Thanksgiving and I was a bit worried that we might have to cancel and would be past our banking window. You are right that your points will be replenished every Feb 1st. But many members add on to their contracts all the time. We bought 150 at OKW originally, but found that we wanted more points. So we did an add-on of 50 points at OKW awhile back and an add-on at Vero for 100 points this year. Now every Feb we have 300 points added to our account instead of 150.

Whew, after reading this thread I was pretty scared that Disney was going to exercise their first right on our pending offer. But Jaki from atimeshare just wrote me and said that Disney approved our offer and we will soon be BWV owners!! We are just psyched to get all the membership information and make it official!!

Congratulations Michelle and welcome home. Welcome to the disboard too.:D

Welcome to the DIS!

and ...

Welcome Home!

is great. I am sure that she sort of led you in the direction of what was the current low offer "making it" through the system for BWV private sales. She did that for us when we bought in at HHI a few years back. Our offer of $55 was a real bargain then, now it is a steal. Congratulations!
