Wonder's EBPC 9/12/14 Who's Going With Us!

Hello All,

I am keeping the list, as David said. I figured out how to make a Google spreadsheet (no small task for this non-techie), and have published it to the web. Anyone interested in signing up to share dining room seating is welcome to add their names to the list. I've added those who have already said they wanted to do that. So far I have: Donna and David, Betty and Armando, Olive and Bob, Carolann and Gib, Karen and Ed. I'll send all who have signed up so far the link so they can edit any information if needed.

If anybody else wants to add themselves to the list, please send me a private message and I'll give you the link to the spreadsheet. I think that's better than sharing the link with anyone who happens to view this forum, but may not be part of our group.

If anybody has ideas about how I can improve the spreadsheet, please let me know. I don't think we should be sharing our reservation numbers or even full names at this point. When we get closer to the cruise date we can split up into groups to sit at tables of 4 or 6 or whatever people want..... assuming we get enough signed up to do that, lol.

Please don't hesitate to tell me if what I'm doing is acceptable or not.... I'm totally open to suggestions of how to do it better.

:) Karen

Thanks Karen!!! I have not seen the spreadsheet yet, but I am sure you are doing a great job :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are having rain and temps in the 50's:eek: but it is supposed to get better tomorrow. Be safe everyone.

Steve,
We can share war stories. I worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in the Psychiatric Emergency Room of an LA County Hospital for 8 years.

Oh my stars and garters you must have some fun ones. I am afraid of psych. I am bad with those.

Another comes from early in my career. The teenage girl who swore to her dad that she was not pregnant. Who, once the baby began to crown and we hurriedly whisked her off to L&D she was heard yelling down the hall to her perplexed father. "It's not mine, Dad! It's not mine!"
LOL :rotfl2:

When I was precepting for my LPN, my advisor/mentor knew I worked NOC shift and I wanted to be an ER RN. She also knew that during clinicals during days and eves was tough on me. So she got me an ER placing during NOC. Yay! The problem? It was during all the drinky drinky holidays (Cinco de Mayo, "Star Wars" day, etc) and all during the full moons. The staff thought it was really funny and a "good learning" experience to give me the meth heads freaking out that "may have raped someone" (?). They handed me the locked leather restraints. The doctor would be like "I need you to put a cath in him and check his bag...." I had a few of those. They liked giving me the weird kids that needed psych evals ("Kim you taught preschool, this is up your alley."). And one night it was super slow and the charge RN (for the hospital) walked into the ER and was like "there's a C-section happening." She looked at me and was like "Joyce will kill me if you aren't there." So I scrubbed in. I should point out child birth freaks me out. Give me a crazy drunk or an obstructed bowel and I'm happy. Nope. I thought "I'm almost done with this program and I haven't seen a baby! Yay!" I scrubbed in. OMG. I nearly fainted a few times. The MD kept asking "are you okay?" Nodded, "fine." Get out, have a bloody nose. I got back to the ER and they were like "you looked like you were walking to your death." And I called my mom after I got out of there, totally scared, and was like "Mom I saw a baby being born." I got home. She popped champagne. I went straight to my medication bowl (fancy bowl reminds me to take it.), and popped my birth control.

:D

I just thought of this today while driving:
My group is 3 CNAs. My friend is going along with some day shift RNs- 3. And quite a few nurses on this board. This will be a good boat for a zombie end of days.

Yep, after seeing my first c-section I commented to my instructor, "now I know where the magicians got the idea for sawing the lady in half." It was gruesome.

BTW: for those of you not in healthcare: ER nurses, contrary to popular belief, hate delivering babies. We can't get pregnant women out if our department and into L&D fast enough. Don't get me wrong we have nothing against childbirth. (We were all born once ourselves).

I am not in the medical field, but when my twins were born I saw my first and ONLY c-section. One of the nurses kept saying "dad look here comes baby #1, quick take a picture." I looked up and saw things I was I could unsee.

Oh the stories we can tell on this boat.

I put my time off request for next year. Well started. I need 14 days of PTO. I have like 3. But with the group that's going from work I thought "I should just put a couple days down now so they know.... " That's what we're all starting to do.

Hi all,
Spouse and I and a couple of friends have recently booked this PC cruise. This will be our 19th cruise (if I am counting correctly) by the time we sail, our 3rd on Disney. This will be our friends first cruise with Disney. Neither couple is sailing with children or grandchildren but we are definitely 'Disney" families! We are from Texas and they are from California. Both couples are on Deck 7, mid-ship balcony. After sailing the Dream, I hope it is not too disappointing to go back to the smaller ship but I am sure the itinerary will more than make up for the lack of an Aqua Duck! It appears there are a lot of posts here and I will begin making my way through them for suggestions and ideas. We will likely go to Disneyland for a day or two before sailing and then -of course- to WDW when we arrive in Florida. Hope to get to know some of you from these boards and then when traveling! Happy Planning!

Welcome!

I have never been on the smaller boats. I am kinda' excited. I got to know the bigger boats so quick that now I'm like "this shouldn't be too hard...." But my friends and I are all planning to pack books to share, I'm packing yarn/knitting, and I know Emily is packing booze.

Welcome to the Cruise! I think it'd be a great vacation to bookend DL and WDW but alas, we're going kidless and two weeks away from them will remind us how precious they are so, we'll be anxious to be home after the cruise.

:wave2: Hi, Maria & Brain, :wave2:

Welcome a Board:welcome::jumping1::welcome::jumping1::welcome::jumping1: My wife and I did the WBPC in '08 and we wish would have done DLR and WDW before and after!!! We hope to do it this time and take our girls to both parks, but time off work might be hard.

Where in California does your friend live?????

Does anyone decorate there doors??? If so, lets see some pics :)

Nice job on the door pops711!!!:thumbsup2 We do put up a couple of decorations on our door, but not we don't seem to be as creative as ya'll are!!!:confused3 I do like this look!!!:cool1:

Steve, just checked out your travel blog and the pic's of your door decorations. :worship:Ya'll do such a great job on your doors. Guess I better get busy and start my collection for this cruise!!!:cool1::banana:

Thank you. It's a lot of fun!

This is one of the pictures I can find. I know by the end of the cruise I had a ton more. The sheep for those curious is sort of like my tattoo. I figured if I got really drunk I could find my door by looking for Shawn. The dog magnets are my boys, they are my facebook pictures at different times-- thought my cruise group could find my room by my dog.

Hey everyone, click on the link above for the DisneyParks blog web page. There is a video about the CM's and guests on the Magic's Westbound Transatlantic cruise painting a mural for a children's hospital in Barcelona. In the video they talk to Cayla who is on the Magic now, and she is going on the Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise with all of us next September!!!:thumbsup2

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE,
Pre-cruisers to Disneyland- transportation questions, ideas:
Have you found it is better to fly into LAX, Long Beach or San Diego? Airfares seem to be about the same but direct flights are easier to find into SD or LAX. Anyway we do this, I'm assuming we'll need to rent a car to get to the port. . Anyone thought about renting a van and ride-sharing from Anaheim to the port? Possibly arranging transportation with a private/public transport company? ANYONE interested in sharing a van from DL area hotels to port on the morning of sailing? I'm happy to do the research and report back.

HOTEL QUESTIONS:
Premium passes and hotel discounts: I frequently get an annual pass to WDW because we do get discounts on the hotels but you don't know until 3-4 mo prior to travel. ANY LUCK getting discounts on the DL hotels w/ the premium pass?
If you stay at the 'good neighbor' hotels, do you get the extra magic hours?

Pops711, Davidls-
Pops711- our friends are from just north-east of San Francisco close to Napa Valley. Not sure if they'll be driving or flying to SD at this time.
Davidls- the Wonder was the first Disney ship we cruised back in 2007 and we really did like it; we've just done so many bigger ships since then!
