WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

Hello everyone! My name is Gino (43). My daughter Allison (17) and I will be joining you all next Spring. This will be our 11th Disney cruise, but our first through the Panama Canal. We're looking forward to going on our longest cruise yet, as well as adding on a day at Disneyland. Also can't wait to see what kind of changes they make to the Wonder after its dry dock. Everyone keep the information and tips coming for someone new to PC cruising. I've also read on previous posts about a possible Facebook page for our group. Please PM me with a link if available. Thanks!

:welcome@ to the group Gino :) We are all excited to see what changes they make to teh Wonder during drydock.

After reading up on loaning a book and seeing that I would have to read it in 14 days(so not happening!), I think I will buy a cheap copy and make mom or her other half read it. Thanks for offering to loan it to me though.

It isn't a loan, it is a bona fida copy that you would have permanently. Let me know if you would still like it.

Hello @TrySomethingNew and @gmc824 ! :boat:

So @runskyhy is going to make us navigators of activities for our group? That is an undertaking right there, :thumbsup2 to you!

Not sure if we could print these up real-time, but it would be cool, wouldn't it? I'll have to brainstorm some. Any thoughts or ideas on how to do this? :scratchin

Isn't that the book that is like over 600 pages long? Good reviews though. Let me know what you need to send it to me, I can't promise to read the whole thing.

I've started it. I love facts but to keep up with all of them, I've gone all post-it all over the book as you can see from the photo...

@wilma-bride maybe your husband shouts "yabba dabba do!"

:rotfl2::rotfl:

I just can't picture Gary doing this but I might have to ask him to try it next weekend. :thumbsup2

Awesome pictures, @ohMom ! Was Dug and Russell on the Alaska cruises? I've never seen them before! :dogdance:

Well....it's Sunday night, and this year's wbpc is over. Which means we're that much closer!!!

Woo hoo!! :cool1:

Us too.....DH does not feel like he can squeeze anymore extra days away from work . We haven't been to DL yet and it's definitely in our near future

So sad!!! Since we live on the West Coast, this is our park that we get to visit the most. Our first cruise out of Florida, there was no way I was NOT going to WDW! We spent two days prior to our cruise, and could check WDW of the list. We have also now visited WDW for a second time, but we usually hit Disneyland every other year. Could you spend embarkation day at Disneyland and take a redeye home? John Wayne airport is not too far away. So hard to be that close, especially since you have never been! Hoping hubby will change his mind.

Good luck with coming up with an answer - you were very close before.

By the way, I'm not sure if you have a Kindle but if you do, I have a copy of the Path Between The Seas in Kindle format which I would be happy to send to you. Warning, though, I have been advised that it is a very dry book.

Perhaps DH is always bellowing for you "Willlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllma"?

Aren't Kindles the best invention!!!!

I had seen posted somewhere here that a cruiser had created an app for their specific cruise. It's to bad we can't do something like that, although wouldn't you have to connect to wifi to run it? As long as we have everything planned with a time and location, something could be printed out before we leave. Keeping it small and easily transportable is another issue!

Now that would be a sight to see, some guy yelling Wilma:laughing: No offense to @wilma-bride, but it sounds like an old ladies name so depending on how young her husband is people would be doing a double take:eek: Maybe Wilma is/was the name of her pet?
I do have to agree, I love my Kindle. It is so much easier to carry that than a bunch of books on vacation(and much lighter to).

Oh my goodness, my Kindle is probably one of my most treasured possessions. I once left it on the plane on the way home from NY - I was completely lost without it. I can't even read a 'normal' book now.

haha, my husband will turn 50 just before the cruise. I am nowhere near that old ;) He did used to have a sound clip of Fred Flintstone yelling Willllllmmmmaaaa which he had as his ringtone on the phone for when I called him.

If nobody guesses before the cruise, I promise to tell you all at the meet & greet :rotfl:

If possible, this is what I would do. I took a red-eye from LAX to Columbus this past Dec -we landed around 5 am. BUT, LAX traffic just for my sister to drop me off was terribly backed up- she said Sun nights often are very backed up Bc business travelers often fly out Sun evenings. Of course John Wayne could be a much better situation.

DL was a good time - lots to do and very compact compared to WDW, so completely walkable. The walk between DL and CA is like walking between MK and where the busses drop you off (very close).

Well, I started the book:banana: It is going to be my put myself to sleep book as I only read maybe 10 pages and wanted to go to bed! Maybe it will get more exciting?:sad2:
