Where can I find info about the age restrictions on this?
I know BOTH my girls would really enjoy this and this is something you stay with them- right?
So would an almost 3yr old be able to do it... especially if she's NOT potty trained by then (hey, miracles could happen with this child but I'm not betting on it LOL).
I mean if I'm there... does it matter if she's NOT potty trained? I'd zip her out of there fast (with husband staying there) to change her if need be?!?

(edited to add NOT potty trained. LOL)

If you check out the description on this site http://www.wdwinfo.com/just_for_kids/teaparty.htm

it says children must be potty trained.

The only other thing I will tell you, is it also says, " Parents are welcome to stay and observe the fun, but may prefer to use the time to book a spa treatment, shop (in the elegant Grand Floridian shops), take a walking tour of the beautiful grounds, have a quick lunch at the Grand Floridian Café, rent watercraft at the marina or just sit and enjoy the ambience of the magnificent lobby._"

I will tell you when we were there, they STRONGLY encouraged us to find other activities....to the point of not evening wanting anyone to walk their child into the actual room. Done in true DIS style, it was all overly polite but the message of "get lost, please ;) " was clear.

My DD and niece did love it but were disappointed as Alice never made it to the party:(

My 4 yo DD went to the tea party in January. Parents were allowed to bring their children in and get pictures of them by the table, which was beautifully decorated. Then we were instructed to leave and come back in an hour. The CM waited until all the parents arrived before she opened the door to let the parents in.

DD LOVED the Tea Party. I sent a disposabe camera with her--can't wait to see the pictures. We still haven't used all the film LOL!

Indicentally, this was one of the best hours of my vacation. DH was a a conference so I brought a book and sat down by the pool. Because it was COLD that day (and the entire vacation) there was nobody at the pool.

Oh well forget that then. I wouldn't even want to leave my other two there! The pictures I had seen of this on another site (or maybe it was here? Can't remember) were showing all the parents standing back from the table and taking pics/etc. throughout the entire thing. So I thought this was more of a thing the children could do with the parents there. No way I'll pay that much to not even get to take pics or enjoy my kids having a good time... for an HOUR. If I want time away from the kids I'd rather choose a babysitter or one of the babysitting clubs for a longer period of time.
I wanted to do this more as a thing to do much like character meals. Not something to leave them for an hour. :(

Good luck on those pictures. You should have seen the pics my 8yr old came home with from camp last year. HAHAHAHAHA can you say wasted film? LOL

I have worked this before and must tell you, the children love it. There are servers and other CMs there who will take pictures if you leave a camera. The children get to have chicken nuggets and pb&j sandwiches in the shape of hearts. They also get to add icing and decorate their own cupcake. They get to have tea with the Mad Hatter and Alice who tell the children a story. They will have a wonderful time.

My DD went to the tea and had a blast. I left my camera with her and the cast members took fantastic pics of her with the Mad Hatter and Alice. She also got to make a bouquet of flowers which the children presented to the Moms when the were picked up. I explored the Grand Floridian while she was there.

I'm sure any children doing this would have a great time... my point is that since it's a "drop off and leave" type thing (even though it's just for an hour and I thought it was a "stay if you want" type thing because of the pics I had seen of this) then I'm sure they won't bend the rules at all about the potty training. And since my YOUNGEST is the one that would enjoy this... then there is no point in us doing it right now.

In the future though. :)

I took my niece there when she had just turned five, she was fine, kind of.

I had stood outside in the hallway, peaking in, and didn't realize that she knew I was there. After about 40 minutes I went and sat down on one of the benches just outside, and when she realized I wasn't there she got very upset and started crying. A mom was there peaking in as well, and she said she saw my niece crying. So I went to the door, and she was. I let myself in and soothed her, told her I was still right there. It calmed her down, but she didn't want to stay. She did enjoy it, but I think it was a little overwhelming. She's a quiet little thing, and there were a couple of REALLY PUSHY kids (their parents were pushy as well...grrr...that's another story) and it was just a bit much for her.

Maye we'll try it again next year when she'll be seven.

In answer to your question I think the minumum age is three, and most definitely potty trained.

I booked this for DD6 and DS4. DD had a good time, but I left a camera with her and no one took any pictures!!!
DS however kind of freaked when he knew I had to leave him (no parents were allowed to stay) and unfortunately I had to take him with me so as not to ruin it for the others. I learned my lesson that my DS was a bit too young for this as absolutely no refunds either (I tried!)
Bibbidy - I think you are wise to wait until next time.

Thanks for all the info.

It still has me a bit confused though... since the pictures I saw of this showed parents standing all around throughout the entire thing (the website showed pictures of the entire hour with parents in the background all around throughtout all of them). Maybe those are old pics and now they don't allow parents to hang out with them the entire time?

X that off my list for a couple of years atleast. For my youngest to get old enough to stay there by herself. :(

No parents stayed 2 years ago when DD went. She LOVED it there. Had a blast. We left our camera with our name on it by her. They took quite a few pictures. We peeked twice and they chanted "no peeking" at me!:D

Our dd was 7.5 years old when she did the Tea Party. It was an incredible experience for everyone! My dd was born very ill. We lived at the hospital for three years on and off. I didn't like the idea of leaving her, even at 7.5 years old, but she did amazing and so did we! Our 15 month old ds fell asleep so dh and I got a quiet and lovely lunch at GF ~ it was a magical time. dd was very proud of herself for staying and enjoying the Tea Party. I would think a 4 year old would be fine. They give you pagers but we had our own. S

My then 10 niece and 4 DD attended the wonderland party in May. I can tell you that parents are not allowed to stay in the room once they shut the doors. You can go in and help your child find a seat, get settled in and take a few pictures. I left my expensive camera with the girls (forgot to get the cheap one out of the car, which was parked at the CR). The CM's took several pics of the girls with the characters, and my camera was well taken care of. Parents can remain just outside the door, which have sheer curtains over them. You can see movement but not much else. You aregiven a beeper that will work within the main building and perhaps out to the pool but doubtfully any further than that. There are 2 places just off the main hotel lobby (1900 PF is also just off the lobby) that the adults can enjoy lunch. Without a PS my mother nad I had tea at the Garden View Lounge. DH, DS, DSi and her DFi all had luch (without a ps) at the Grand Flordian Cafe.

Both girls had a wonderful time at the tea party.

An option for those who won't/can't leave their kids behind is to have tea with your kids at the Garden view lounge. They have mrs Pott's Tea on the menu for kids which is chocolate milk served in a tea pot, along with kids sandwiches such as PBJ and ham and cheese. I have read of them allowing some substitutions from the regular menu (tea in place of chocolate milkd for example), but as usual that is up to the server
